Keane still has a lot to offer IMO. I think he'd be the perfect foil for Carroll. Obviously i'd prefer someone younger, cheaper and more hungry but he's certainly one of the best options available.

If Barton leaves I reckon we'll go down, simple as that. He's been absolutely oustanding this season and has been our only spark of creativity in a very workman-like midfield. Obviously you can point to Nolan's goals but apart from getting on the end of chances he offers very little else. Jonas, for all his ball-carrying and running offers no goal threat and little in the way of assists. And finally Tiote who has been nothin short of spectacular but whose job is to break up play rather than instigate it. Routlegde and Guthrie look totally out of their depth and Ben Arfa is crocked. without Barton we are doomed....unless we can replace him with Fabregas but I can't see that happening

Great interview from Barton. I'm always surprised at how intelligent he is, given that he's such a lunatic. Him and Carroll were outstanding today and we need to keep them both at the club to have any chance of moving forward.

But what if Pardew does well? It still won't make any sense because Hughton was already doing well, was loved by the fans, respected by the players and the media and had brought stability to the club. From the various ITKs and media stories it seems as though Pardew was already lined up to take over from Hughton and that the Jol resignation has caused them to rethink. Even if that is the case and Ashley is bringing him in for an interview, I can't see him being offered the job. He'd want a decent length contract, a bigger salary than we'd be prepared to offer and probably assurances about transfer funds. Let's just hope Paul Kelmsley has a word in Ashley's ear and the fat turd sees sense.

The thing that most baffles the shit out of me about this is that experience and the ability to take the club forward are the two things the club say they are looking for in a new manager. Pardew barely has more PL experience than Hughton and has certainly never pulled up any trees as a top flight manager. We are currently mid-table and looked on course to finish there or thereabouts. Forward from where we are now means European qualification. Pardew has no track record of taking clubs to European qualification so why the fuck would they think he's the man to take us forward. Had they given Hughton more money to spend I've no doubt he'd have lead us to the Europa League within a couple of seasons. If they give this cunt a decent transfer kitty after depriving Hughton of funds, I will explode with rage
