If you've got quick, skillful players attacking the box from both sides then you're going to commit more tackles from defenders who will make more mistakes and make more fouls in the box. The fact we've got 1, maybe 2, players like that in the club means we're never going to get many. We'll get a few, as most teams do, when there's a tussle in the box and the ref comes down in favour of the attacking team but the vert fact we don't spend much time in the opposition's box means we're going to be light on pens over the course of the season. Teams that fly at the opposition and attack regularly will obviously get more.

I genuinely believe he spends the entire match thinking about what he's going to say in his post-match interview. What can he trot out to explain away yet another pathetic and impotent performance? Who can he blame? How can he deflect things and try and spin it as bad luck or poor refereeing? Can he highlight injuries or the fact he's lost to a good team, who have spend huge sums of money (just like he has)? Just come up with something to keep the pressure off him directly so he can survive another week, another month - whatever. The next 5 games will decide if we stay up or go down imo. Palace, Villa, Leeds, Fulham and West Brom is about as nice a run of fixtures as you could get, beat a few of those and we'll stay up. Lose most of them and we'll get dragged to the bottom of the league and stay there for the rest of the season. The cushion of 8 points could quite easily disappear by Xmas with a run of much tougher fixtures to come after that. The display today was absolutely fucking rotten.
