There's no rush for him as if he doesn't make the move to a CL club this summer then he can walk into a better contract in 10 months time.

It's the 'get out of jail free' card for owners/chairmen. They can resist all bids but once that request goes in and the player publically states 'I don't want to be here' then he's persona non grata. The fans never take the player's side and he gets his move without the owner/chairman losing face.
