Sounds likely. I think Quinn will find some resistance to FSA at Sunderland after managing here even though there's a big shout for him from them. But Quinn wants to be everybody's friend and couldn't bare upsetting even one of his primates meaning Curbs is the easier choice for him to make. End of the day FSA was at Sunderland only a little bit longer than he was here, not really grounds to bring him in as manager considering how dire his last 14 months as a manager actually was. Curbishley nearly got the mackem job just before Keane was appointed apparently. Edit: the mackem local rag did a poll on who the mongs wanted to take over and Big Sam pissed it.
-
Are you going to re-set the poll at 5 o'clock? do you think i should? As it stands you can remove your vote then vote again. This keeps all of the other votes. Re-setting the poll wipes all of the previous votes.

I keep playing Devils Advocate on this so don't take it the wrong way. Do contracts work both ways? I don't think they do and would like to see somebody who breaks it from the other side have to pay the employer for the remainder of the contract. It seems all one sided to me, it's far too easy for one party to break a contract while the other ends up out of pocket if they do it. A contract is a statement of terms upon which 2 parties are willing to be legally bound. If either side has broken the terms of the contract, and it can be proven, they'll lose. Keegan signing his contract in January seemed to happen very quickly iirc. I'd like to think he and his lawyer gave it the once over and he knew exactly what he was signing...

The comment came across that he doesnt want Keegan to win, regardless of whether he is right or wrong; that was why I asked if I was interpreting right. To say the club is more important than Keegan = I "hope" the club win. How is that different to hoping Keegan wins. Its equally as short sighted without, as you say, knowing what happened. Ultimately, every level headed person/fan should be hoping that the person who wins is the person who has been wronged. Yes that's how every level headed/neutral/Keeganite should think. On the other hand, I am a Newcastle United fan and I want what is best for NUFC and our fans so I hope Newcastle United win this case. I see no benefit for NUFC or our fans in Keegan winning it as I can't see him coming back here. Take your point but it's about right and wrong too isn't it? If the club has broken it's contract then Keegan deserves whatever comes his way. He's entitled to it. It's a big 'if' mind obviously. No he doesn't deserve it if you want an honest answer. He isn't going to get that sort of job or contract from any other club. He shouldn't have taken the job unless he was going to see it through. All this talk of constructive dismissal is bollocks in the real world. If the club has fucked him over he deserves recompense. Contracts work both ways.

The reports said that Keegan was verbally told he'd been sacked, it could be bollocks or it could be true. We could all say anything verbally then realise we'd dropped a bollock and pretend it didn't happen. My question still stands. If, as reported, he was verbally told he was sacked but it was never put in writing then it wasn't a formal sacking. It has to be about something else. You dont think the first thing the LMA would have said to him was "did they put anything in writing about you being sacked ?" ? If that's going to be the cornerstone of his claim then I'd imagine it was mentioned pretty early on tbh.

He's under pressure and he's trying to deflect some of it. We're not far in front of them in the league but they're in much more trouble than us imo.
-
The club comes first, but if Keegan's been fucked over then he's got every right to take the club to court.

Please be O'Leary. Please be O'Leary. Please be O'Leary. Please be O'Leary.....

Will a lawyer let you stick to your principles when there is a wad full of cash being waved in front of you/them or will they pressure you to settle ? The lawyers work for Keegan. It's his decision ultimately whether to continue or settle.

Agreed. People's views on this will be coloured by whether they think he was forced out or "bottled" it. Personally I believe he was misled from the outset re transfers and his position was made untenable. I think he has every right to sue the club in that case and I don't think any the less of him for it, I would do exactly the same in his shoes. He is not stealing from the fans' pocket - Ashley owns the club not us - and this should not affect transfer funds one jot (I'm cynical over whether any money will be spent one way or another anyway). I wish it wasn't happening but the responsibility lies with Ashley imo. if the case is found against keegan then the responsibility was with keegan. also any monies leaving the club could well affect any future transfer expenditure. If the court decides against keegan then I'd reconsider. If his contract is paid up then he shouldn't have been constructively dismissed and he's entitled to it. In those circumstances the blame lies with Ashley and his minions not Keegan, and we'd have been better off getting 3 years of service out of him rather than forcing him out. so instead of your posts being very pro-keegan shouldn't you be saying "wait till we see what comes out in court" Not really. I believe Keegan's in the right here. i believe we haven't got a clue what went on and for all it'll be ugly it's the only way to clear things up. Unfortunately I can see this all being settled on the quiet out of court with the fans none the wiser. But if Keegan is taking this to court as a matter of principle he'll see it through to the bitter end? Settling out of court will still leave questions unanswered. If that happened we'd know that it's purely and simply about the money. If Keegan does indeed want to clear his name, stick to his principles and let the fans know what went on, he'll hopefully not accept out of court. Agreed 100%.

Resigning by text message and fax. Not even thanking his players before he walked. Classy as fuck. Pikey twat.

Re-read the very first sentence again mate. Why worry about Ashley taking a hit? If he runs the club into the ground, it's his loss. Someone will buy it eventually and run it properly. I'm not worried about Ashley taking a hit. Both sides obviously think they've got a good case otherwise it wouldn't have got this far. It just so happens that Ashley could, financially, deal with losing the case but I'm not sure if Keegan could. If Keegan is found to have breached his contract it could cost him an awful lot of money. If Ashley loses he could just add it to his asking price for the club. Hope Keegan knows what he's doing here. How? I thought the loser has to pay both side's court costs?

One side or the other will have to prove that the contract has been broken by the other side. It'll be messy if it goes all the way but I think they'll settle out of court, as the article suggests.

Carved apart. Excellent passing and movement off the ball.
-
True but is there anything left to spend for the new bloke? Keane spent loads of money in the last 18 months or so.
-
Good news: the club's in turmoil, lost 6 of the last 7, no manager, Man U away at the weekend. Bad news: they might get someone good.
-
Curbishley wouldn't surprise me either tbh.

Ex Sunderland player. Available immediately. No compensation to pay out to get him. He's looking for a job....
