  1. and will probably hammer us 7-1 bet they don't
  2. aye its braga. i think the faroe isles national stadium has a similar thing going on. samp and genoa still share i think and the towers do look good. i remember the world cup there with people hanging out of them looked great. http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/italy/liguria/genova_ferraris2.jpg thats the type of thing i'm getting at. they look good from the inside instead of the modern round bowl.
  3. And then the add the fact that the DOF in question was Dennis Wise... Absurd. who to be fair wasn't really given a chance. if wise were the manager and keegan the DoF in the exact same scenario. everyone would still have keegan. we don't know what went on so people just fell behind personalities. That is what I mean, it was an absurd situation. It is hard to tell who spotted which players, Llambias claimed Bassong was a Wise transfer, whereas Bassong himself has said Keegan made first contact. Newcastle fans will always side with a club legend rather than a former player who had no real track record to warrant a position above said club legend, crazy situation and I still don't think I'll ever understand Ashley's thinking behind that one. how was wise above keegan ? I've always seen Director of Football as a more senior role than a manager. I meant above Keegan, as in Keegan would always get the benefit of the doubt over Dennis Wise in the eyes of the fans. at each club that has a DoF the remit is different. gordon milne was DoF to robson. what we don't know is what wise's remit was.
  4. the ice rink is a give away
  5. i have to say aswell that the loudest noise i've heard in a football stadium was in milan when inter equalised, not really covered in and about 58,000 in the place.

  7. its been mooted that his plan was to pay as little as poss to keep us in the prem till he could get shot of the larger wage earners. a gamble that failed. who knows what would have happened if he'd done due dilligence and realised that the stadium expansion loan had to be paid in full on change of ownership........on this a new thought. i wonder if he tried to re-structure this part, to pay it over time, more so i wonder if he tried, was he knocked back by the banks ?
  8. are the seats in the gaps cheaper when it rains? are the seats in the front rows at SJP cheaper when it rains ? and i'd guess it rains a lot more in newcastle than bari.

  10. this place would be fantastic if it wasn't for the running track.....http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_menu/architecture/stadium_design/bari_san_nicola.shtml
  11. Likes, dislikes, faves, pics etc Personally i like the old fashioned style when even different parts of the ground seem to come from different eras and a squarish design to the ground as opposed to the modern rounded stadia. i loved the likes of gay meadow and the manor ground but looking at http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_menu/past_future/future_stadiums.shtml all the new stadia seem much of a muchness with only the sizes and the outer decor differentiate between them.
  12. see the connections.......atletico-red and white stripes. benfica were famous for the stadium of light. following the pattern their next game will be in kabul given it's resemblance to sunderland city centre.
  13. I never battered nusc. I said I thought the thinking behind the protests was wrong. I've even said on here that an independent supporters group could have its benefits.

    RIP sale thread.

it's the new name of centruy radio.
  15. Might pop along to see what they have to say, if any positions have changed and what the exact aims are.
  16. I'm saying Fulham were in a far worse state than us, so if he'd taken them over I'm not sure how he was going to do any better there on half our turnover. There isn't a club in the Premiership without problems of some sort, and I don't think ours were even remotely the worst. What money Ashley did put in was spent poorly - on paying for players up front and on an increased wage bill for example. Saying this increased expenditure was the fault of the previous owners is misrepresentative of the situation. fulham looked like it till you realise the person who they owe to isn't likely to chase their money back off them. just like chelsea. look through my posts i've said that fred was taking us backwards on and off the pitch, ashley came in without checking anything out and hasn't been able to cope with the shit he found himself in. re turnover...having a one hundred million (billion even) turnover means little if you are spending a lot more than that. how i'm implicating the previous owners is that the huge wages that we couldn't afford culture came from them. i do not say it was all freds fault, ashley could have changed it but in my opinion we'd have been as deep in the shit had fred stayed.
  17. Was just going to say this, he thought of a football club as a rich man's toy and amusement for the weekends. His naivety was staggering. So no one thinks that his business model could have worked for other clubs? What was Ashley's single biggest mistake? The Keegan debacle? or was it the fact that he let the club play out more than half the season with Hughton and Kinnear in charge? These weren't business mistakes. What hurt Ashley the most as owner of the club was when he started to piss on the fans from a great height thinking he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it. I think that's what we were saying... they weren't business mistakes, they were 'running a football club' mistakes. He should never have bought a football club. Obviously if he had bought a club that didn't have any problems to start with, he might have done alright. Which clubs don't have any problems? Is this the same Fulham which at the last count had a debt of around £200m, and a wage bill of £39m with a turnover of £54m? I'm sure he'd have done a great job there too. owed to al fayed. are you saying ashley was crap because he wouldn't bankroll the club to your liking ?
  18. The correct answer is.... he loses credibilty by stating Ashley has us on a stable footing. Christ, I miss out the word 'financial' and look what happens...the Shepherd apologists out in force (not aimed at you Cp40, I know you're just a Keegan fan) Does thinking MA is a clueless c*** immediately make one a Shep apologist? Explain...... Ashley cant be defended on his record, so comparing him to his predecessor is the only way of avoiding saying I got it wrong. I was blaming Keegan and Shepherd and people with cockney mafia out banners for our problems, when it was down to Ashley all along. Pretty much everyone must realise by now what a catastrophic dimwit Ashley is. as regards nufc ...yes does it mean fred left us on the up or in the s*** ? When MA took over he had access to capital within the region of at least 700m to 1bl. How the f*** did he manage to get us relegated? because he didn't want to spend all his money on the football club. much like you and I. He needed to spend £20m to safeguard the club and save £100m. He didn't because he's a stupid c*** and us in the Championship is testament to the fact. not so sure about that..............i 'm not sure giving kinnear 20mill would have saved us. I think that sentence sums up Mike Ashley's competence to run a football club pretty well. he also appointed keegan. he didn't appoint souness and roeder is what i'm getting at. i'm no ashley apologist. i've said he fucked up big style with kinnear. i've said he should have spent in the last window (hopefully without kinnear). what i can't put up with though is people saying he fucked up a good position. he took us on when we were in the shit and didn't improve things. taking owners etc out of it and look at it. we've been on the slide bioth on and off the pitch for 5 years or so.

  21. if he'd done due dilligence he wouldn't have bought the club. the business model was ok as in "keep the debt within bounds that we can repay without taking on more debt to pay it"....on the football side his appointment of kinnear says it all.

Well to be fair he might as well have instead off pissing it up the wall. i very much doubt the ammount he spent on drinks would have made a difference. No but getting pissed and putting 250k on a roulette whell, or gambling hundreds of millions that the recession would end in a few months despite financial experts saying it would go on for years. are you saying he should just have made nufc his focus and forgot about his other financial interests ? don't even think fred done that. No I'm just saying he might as well have, he would be richer now. I think he's no the great businessman that most would be to be a Billionaire, I think he was just lucky and now thats ran out. i wouldn't say he was a great businessman, but to put it down to luck is silly. Well he made 250m of Adidas in 1 week when he bought them and randomly their stock rose massively, either thats insider trading or luck. or it's the knock on effect from him buying stock and others think he's preparing a takeover and the price rises on the strength of that. he also bought in to get rights to some adidas gear i think. I don't think even the most retarded man would think a man with 2 billion would attempt a takeover of Adidas. Edit: I am not calling you a retard. he could easily if he got the banks/institutions on board aswell. do you think the glaziers etc used their own money to buy man utd. google "ashley adidas takeover" and you'll see there were plenty of rumours about ath the time
