  1. you're aware that the rest of the country feels that way about both of our teams aswell ?
  2. "there was no danger of relegation" aye righto sam.
  3. as far as i'm aware he put money in ,technically,by buying shares and the only thing shepherd risked was is shares. as for hall he did similar and i'm fairly sure he is on record somewhere as saying the only money that came from them outside of share capital was all of or part of the £250,000 for kilcline and even that was technically put up by lady hall.
  4. very much doubt it. we may have got draws against balckburn and hull but we had too many out to be confident of winning either.
  5. ironically for years everyone was saying we had to get the shadow of shearer of our backs and when all comes to all it wasn't him that was the problem.
  6. as of yet we have no reason not to. the names ruling themselves out of the consortium were never mentioned in the first place as the bloke leading hasn't mentioned any names yet. as much reason to believe it's cack as to believe it's true as yet. Didn't he first speak to the Daily Mail about the story claiming "Now is the time to tell the fans who we are" with the paper running off a list of people who was supposed to be involved in the consortium? He wasn't quoted as saying who was involved but it's pretty obvious where they got the names from as that was the paper he went to to break his silence over the bid. thought it was strange at the time that there were no names in quotes. daily mail journos plucking south african billionaires names from the air because he hasn't told them is as likely him naming them but the journos not quoting him.

  8. bad day....... brum/arsenal win double brighton/hoffenheim win double bradford/leicester win double marseilles/nice win double awaiting mallorca tomorrow as i had them paired with villareal (if they win i'm £10ish down,if they don't win i'm £50 down) i'm considering stromsogodset for tomorrow ?
  9. Its just totally bonkers now. Just when we think the story cant get any more crazy. Next we will hear that in fact there was never really anyone in for us at all I'm not sure that the three who've denied interest were ever confirmed as being part of the consortium in the first place http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/todays-evening-chronicle/2008/10/03/i-m-80-confident-of-the-toon-takeover-72703-21958010/ No names mentioned other than Clelland, maybe the rest aren't South African It looks like the guy supposedly heading the South African consortium, Jonathan Cleland, has been claiming that all these South African billionaires are part of it when they are clearly not. I can only imagine that he was trying to get enough genuine investors into the consortium to actually buy the club, by reassuring them with the thought that some of South Africa's richest men were also in. It looks, however, like that tactic has spectacularly backfired and I think we can discount the South Africans as realistic buyers 'He wants to keep the identities and wealth of the men behind the deal secret to avoid being sucked into a bidding war. But those linked previously include prominent South African businessmen Vivian Imerman and Brian Joffe.' linked by whom ? did he mention any names or did the press play their usual game ?
  10. journalists should get together to present the truth and quality intelligent informedcomment. celebs would be seen for what they are and accorded status as such, same with sportsmen/women. best of all the public should get together and not buy or watch the shite.
  11. that leaves allan lamb and zola budd.
  12. Good, he hasn't spoken since he left. That keeps me hoping that he's waiting in the wings to return. If he doesn't want the job back, then why wouldn't he come out and say as much? He reads the papers/ watches tele linking him with a return, so why doesn't he quash any unfounded rumours? If they are unfounded of course. I may hold false hope, but still i hope. If there was a queue of decent managers wanting the job, then i may think we should appoint one. It doesn't seem like there is, so for me, you simply have to offer him the job back. nobody will be appointed permanently till any takeover is complete. if the new owners want keegan then so be it.
  13. No. He is now bigger than the club. How exactly? People are up in arms about HOW he left. The way the board handled the whole situation, the fact that us fans were being lied to. That the manager isnt really in that much control. Its not solely about Kevin Keegan is it. He is just the guy that exposed the whole thing. and that keegan was complicite in the lying. if the manager had been someone else the view would be a lot more even handed.

on the back of kinnears outburst and spurs denying tapping up mark hughes...is it time the clubs stood up properly to the press. I'm talking calling them liars and pursuing through the courts if necessary ?
  15. the press have been doing that for years
  16. bellamy was bizzarre. go to training 5 times on on 3 you'd watch him be fantastic with everyone, last one away, signing autographs and posing for pics etc, very polite and friendly. on the other 2 days he'd tell you where to go and aim his car and accelerate at 8year old autograph hunters.
  17. Actually Keegan was the battered wife - he walked out because he just couldn't take it any more. I'm sure he would have loved to have taken us with him, but he just didn't have the room at his new place - that doesn't mean he doesn't love us any more though, and once he's sorted with his new partner, who can come back with him and kick the abuser the f*** out of our house everything will be OK again. Hang on in there! if keegan was the battered wife he fucked off and left the kids and took the family allownace book just before christmas.
  18. there was rumour a couple of years back that a prem league forward insisted on a clause in his contract that all win and goal bonuses go to a specific childrens charity.
  19. new club colours to be blik and woit.
  20. does this thread prove that when it comes to how we want our dealings with the press to be conducted they can't win ?

fully agree Cat But at the moment i think it matches the mood of the fans. I dont particularly like a manger whose mouth makes even a foul mouthed git like me cringe but i just cant help but think, is this the right image we want for the club atm? I really don't know. All I know is that I completely cringed all the way through reading the transcript of that exchange with the journalist and he sounded like an embarrassing drunken uncle who spoils anything decent they have to say by sounding like an ill-educated nutter. the trick is to listen to what is being said rather than the way it is said. (sounds condascending i know but the majority of people can't do it, i've learned to do it through necessity and may let you know why one day)
  22. any proof yet that he is claiming this ?

    Jonas Gutierrez

have you tried looking at last season (january onwards) using that line of thinking ?
  24. for straters many would say keegan isn't "truly class" and all those managers we now class as "truly class" started out as not being "truly class".
  25. not just players who are out of contract now, probably already been pointed out but often clubs will let the player go by mutually cancelling the contract (rivaldo style)
