  1. They really don't see it, do they. I always wondered what Rob Shepherd specialised in. well, if you changed the name from "rob" to "bob" you's get the intials "B-S" from the same name.
  2. Only time will tell. our midfield at present is weaker than last season but we still have a month left. and "only time will tell" is my line
  3. how does a pc ignorant fuck like me get round it but others have to go the long way round ?
  4. you never knocked up a welsh bird ? Genius not as genius as making honey in your office to supplement your income
  5. for all keegans talked about back up left backs and such i'd be very surprised if after coloccini his priorities werent in the middle of midfield and up front.

That's true but it happens with players from all nations including our own, some work and some don't, it's a gamble. yuran, rebrov, that left back the chron said we'd signed from kiev but went to arsenal and failed.. their style of football is different to anything in the west. i'm struggling to think of a russian/ukranian who has made it in england. Alexey Smertin is the only player I can think of that has stayed in the Premiership for a bit. never really lived up to his billing did he. and he'd played in france for while previous didn't he. arshavin is undoubtedly a good and at 22/23 may have been worth the risk but at anything round £15milll it's a massive risk that even the big boys don't seem to want to take on.

I've only seen Arshavin in the UEFA and Euro 2008 and he looked like somebody who didn't need to adapt. we'l disagree till we find out then.

Why do you doubt his ability to adjust? younger players adapt quicker and i've watched a good but of the russian league this last year (rubin kazam have cost me quite a bit) and the style is very different and nowhere near as rugged as the western european leagues.
  11. it's quite bad Baggio you muppet. Just had to re-boot and lost some work. Why didn't you just kill it via Task Manager/Mac equivalent? It wouldn't respond to anything but a force quit (mac lingo). It's a c***ing thing to do basically. i minmized it to the task bar then maximized it to stop in jumping all over. then just ok'd the box very quick to reach the end sharpish.

I know Keane is proven but what I've seen of Arshavin tells me that he'll walk this league and will do more than Keane. we'll have to disagree on that.

I think he's probably worth between £15million and £20 million in todays market where Liverpool pay over £20 million for Keane who is 28. keane is sproven in this league though (even then i think they've overpaid)
  17. The results don't mean much granted, wouldn't say that about the rest of it though. Still - you can have a terrible pre-season and a decent regular season. Makes things harder perhaps but is doable. or you can have an excellent pre-season and have a s*** one! i.e. us last season last season wasn't excellent. the results were ok but the performances on the whole were awful. pre-season i'd rather play well and get beat in every game than win playing poorly. this pre season has been too dis-joionted through injuries and giving players rest after internationals.
  18. Bloody hell.. If we bid for them a while ago is it not safe to say that bid failed considering these players are not currently in our squad? Oh, and now you are rather predictably excusing me of being impatient.. I am not, still fully expecting we are going to get the players in that we need as I have said before in this very thread. However, wouldn't you say it is kind of irronic for you to start a thread about a disappointing preseason and things not looking rosey for the start of the season as you were the one preaching patience? BTW Dave, you have said before you would be critical of the club if both the first team and squad willl not be strengthened significantly before the end of the transfer window, have you not? Kevin Keegan himself has stated his ambition as finishing 4th and 8th; looks to me like there is still a lot of work to do.. With regards to negotiating for 3 months and in the end paying more than the asking fee in my book does not constitute decisive business dealing. If it does to you, allow me to ask you± do you work in government by any chance? does that mean getting a player straight away by paying way over the odds may be decisive...............but is that good ?

I'd also go for Arshavin, I wouldn't mind watching him every week. for how much ? ps i'm not too sure he'd cut it over here and doesn't have much time to acclimatise due to his age.
  20. thanks for that baggio. pretty sure i've read it somewhere as a direct quote aswell, identifying newcastle as the team. I've seen that, he said we went in with an opening bid of 8 million euros. that might be the one
