  1. Agree. It will be the end of the transfer windows when people finally realise these recruitment men are as useless as their experience in the position suggests. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they're all useless. In fact I wouldn't describe any of them as such, there's a big difference between between being inexperienced in a role and being useless. People with connections at Charlton say there was real disappointment went to Real, and Real wouldn't have settled for an average performer tbh. Wise, as Sporting Director or whatever his official title is, knows more than enough to agree with KK what positions need dealing with and what sort of player is required. IMHO it's the next stage, convincing the player to move to Newcastle and getting the contract signed, is where it's going wrong. Coloccini reputedly agreed terms, then wanted more time and in the meantime, there's a question mark whether the transfer fee is to be renegotiated. My gut feeling is that it just needs to be a bit sharper to get the deal finalised. FWIW, I don't believe finances have anything to do with it. There have been numerous examples of Levy refusing to increase a bid to get a player or standing steadfastly behind the salary scale and losing players as a result. If Levy can't get a transfer completed as a package that he thinks is ok, the deal won't get done, it's as simple as that. And that, omongst other things is why Spurs always have a list of 4 or 5 potential players for a position, sometimes you can't get your first 2 or 3 preferred options. Would you say they've got most of their first and second choices so far? would you say you knew who the 1st or 2nd choices were ?
  2. that would put the player/agent in the driving seat I am not convinced this is true. From what was reported from Depor and his agent Jimenez and Wise refused to deal with Depor and stuck it out with the agent. I don't pretend that agents have any loyalty, however if he did try to broker a deal with another club Depor could try again to negotiate directly with NUFC to screw Colo's agent out of a sizable chunk of his commission. So its not necessarily the case that if another club came in the player/agent would have the advantage. We'll just have to see who is going to act the most spiteful and dishonorable. good to hear from you again.......what i mean is if another bid comes in then the player chooses where he'd want to go then the club decides if they'll accept that bid.
  3. yes but owned by centrica...costs £850,000 per minute plus a £12,000,000 connection charge
  4. that season was the most entertaining football i have seen nufc play
  5. next to or between......it matters for betting purposes ?
  6. first goal leeeee clarke and he stamped on a soon to be toon darren peacock. tht cole-beadsley goal was fantastic. one of those moments when you watch other teams and think " i wish my team could do that"....BUT IT WAS MY TEAM.
  7. Was that the game Super Mac got his hat-trick on his home debut? Bit before my time like. nah, that was 3-2 mate. In actual fact, Liverpool were probably the best side that day, they put a lot of pressure on us but it was Macs day. I remember seeing him getting absolutely KO'd by Clemence I think it was in goal for them. Didn't KK score as well that day for Liverpool? i thin k he did. i'm gonna toonstat it to make sure i have my details right aswell. edit...yes keegan did score and hughes for them. the game i'm on about supermac 2,tudor and barrowclough (sure barrowclough had a brilliant first half) and brian hall for them (iirc diving header far post from a corner just before half time)
  8. the penny is dropping We've had four very average at best seasons now though. That's the reason IMO, although these rumours start about this time every year. We''ll see ? First sign of mediocrity, brought about by buying real mediocre players, will be mediorcre ticket sales [by the standards we are used to] Good business. Like Sibierski and Bernard you mean? stop misrepresenting me what strikes me as quite amazing, is the amount of people subconciously commenting from the point of view that they think we are a big club, have been acting like one, and now are disappointed that we aren't anymore. We were 3rd class - almost - when Keegan came the first time and he still packed them in, and didn't take long for the 36,000 stadium to be obviously too small. we were 4th class.....the man utds etc were always up top then the secure in the top tier teams (spurs ,everton etc)then a mish-mash of teams going up and down, then a group of teams struggling against dropping in the abyss.
  9. result wise yes...but theres been a few times when we've dominated teams and looked very classy. in that game it was very even till 3-0
  10. Was that the game Super Mac got his hat-trick on his home debut? Bit before my time like. that was a few of years before. this was a wednesday night at SJP. we won 4-1 and were 3 up after about half an hour (supermac 2 and tudor iirc)
  11. i'm gonna ask for NE5's help here.......1974-75 V liverpool (original postponed due to high winds) were we actually as good in that first half as my 7 year old eyes believed ? there really are a few. no doubt they'll be listed.
  12. it's beyond me hpw anyone can choose a "best". owen is probably our most important player but i'd rather taylor played at centre half than owen.
  13. hertha still 0-0 after 75mins. can't see them being too stretched from this match.
  14. they do watch every spanish live match...but that is not getting a good view of every match ie those not live. Well that's true, but in that case you only really get to see opposition players once a season in order to get a true opinion of him. If my opinion of Berbatov was based on what I'd seen of him at St James's Park in the flesh, it wouldn't be great now would it. thats what i'm saying and what sniffer was alluding to. in most cases it takes more than 1 or 2 full games or a bunch of highlights to gauge a player.

  16. Like I've said a number of times, Spanish football gets as much exposure on Sky these days as the Premier League. People will have seen just as much of Coloccini than what they have of Lescott, Anton Ferdinand, etc. can you watch extended highlights of every la liga game ? and even then who made a point of watching depor games ? i know many people who'll watch every game on football first so will see extended highlights of every prem game. Anyone who watches every game on Football First is just sad tbh. And there's a show on Sky similar to Match of the Day once weekly so you do get highlights of every game too. you can't really tell from MoTD style highlights. at least 2 of those folk who watch every game have paid for there 3 years season tickets up front with money made from gambling on football alone.

  18. i know of 2 who haven't renewed but my nephew is getting his first full season ticket and is in with 2 of his mates, both first timers also. of the two who aren't renewing, one is for economic reasons(new house and child) and the other one just moaned for 3 years so was no surprise.

    Coloccini Poll

I don't think anyone (apart from a few barmpots) is expecting him to be the one. But he's head and shoulders better than what we have back there. is he head and shoulders above anything else we can get for the original starting price. ie as someone mentioned above, i'd like to see us test rengers with a bid for cuellar who i was very imprerssed with on their uefa run last season.

    Coloccini Poll

haven't seen enough of him to put a value on him. but i think this one may be dead now.

    F*ck Spurs

we can see it,if we are in this position on sept 1st. we'll not be happy. the difference between me and you is you believe nothing is happening because things haven't happened yet...i think we'll get more bodies in by that date. only time will tell
  22. to be fair, spuds will be interesting to watch this season one way or ther other.
