In other news..... (from that page) "Robbie Savage says he snubbed Sunderland because boss Roy Keane didn't want him enough. Savage has elected to join Paul Jewell's Derby County in a £1.5million move." Musn't of had enough hair on his body to warrant Keano making a 'super serious' move for him. My favourite bit of that story was Savage proclaiming: "I'm the type of player that can keep a team in the Premier League." i'll guess he can...unlikely to be the team he's playing for though

Never going to happen, Mourinho is lined up for AC Milan and why would Lippi come to us? Do people think that we appointed Souness, Roeder and Sam even though the best managers in the world were willing to come to us? Do you honestly think there was no one better than Roeder? Or do you think that was just a convinient option for Shepherd? If Man City can get SGE, we can get a decent manager in too, I would've thought. I think that there were no stand out options and we started playing well under Roeder so we kept him on. All the talk of Managers fancying a challenge seems odd to me, I can't think of many examples of it happening sir bob..ramos..mourinho (to some extent)

i'm not even going to bother switching on

Clearly. You'd think the people agreeing would be more embarrassed once NE5 started agreeing with him. no. I have quite clearly been correct for a long time, and I'm dead pleased parky is correct too. And, if the end result of todays events is the club showing real ambition with their own appointed manager, I fully expect to see quite a lot of u-turns from those of the more conservative persuasion - probably the same people who oddly wanted the old board so "splash the cash" all the time, meaning they have done a 360 degree circle of u turns. i'd like to see cash being splashed if we can afford it (ie ashley spending like abramovich) i'd not like to see cash being splashed if we cant afford it (ie racking up unsustainable debts)

did you hear it or are you going off what i posted as i didn't hear the full thing ?

Nail on head! Excellent post!! if the manager shows some improvement on the play served up by allardyce there'll be no booing. if the managerfucks things up like allardyce then about 6months.
-
how many times do we have to spell it out. IT WAS THE PERFORMANCES NOT THE RESULTS THAT DONE HIM IN ! seven months,20 games of no sign of improvemnet by a manager not of the owners choosing would get rid of any manager at any club.

What did he say basically that ashley doesn't make rash decisions and when asked who ashley had lined up said words to the effect of "i'm not telling" and that he (ashley) is in hong kong right now working on a deal with philip greene So this is our new manager? http://images.elfwood.com/fanq/b/r/brebo/hong_kong_phooey.jpg well i hope he brings spot with him. he's the brains of the operation in my view

very interesting interview just been on 5live with paul kelmsley (?) who was hinting strongly that ashley already has someone lined up
-
we are fucked if the glimmer of improvement is an unrealistic expectation
-
if allardyces team had improved he'd still be in charge with his 27points

it's not really the reaults or where we finish but the feeling that we are improving (as in under robson the first couple of years). admittedly the football throughout the country has changed in this respect and listening to radio5 this season i've never heard so amny "booo's " from fans, no,no not just us

wobbie wotten Wibble wobble. well you may have seen them. i couldn't possibly comment

a preparatory season for next surely

Well obviously; that'll be the reason why Sam'll have gone most probably - they've got money to spend but they don't want him to spend it. But to get rid of him and give it to Harry would just be senseless. Not entirely, if they didn't believe Sam would spend it correctly. For all the positives he was apparently bringing behind the scenes, on the pitch (where it counts) we were f****** turgid for the most part. A win ratio of 33% also has to be one of the worst, if not THE worst we've had, since Keegan? 3rd worst, Souness 2nd, Guillet 1st souness improved us to start with and coped (maybe craeted) massive injuries....allardyce goes above guillit

If given time and money i think Hughes or Redknapp could turn us into a good team on par or better than the likes of Everton, Villa and Man City, but Big Sam might have done the same who knows. We all know they won't get that time before the idiots with their deluded fantasies of Shearer/Mourinho being appointed and instantly turning us into Barcelona are calling for him to be sacked. There would be a huge backlash from the fans if Hughes or Redknapp are appointed though, while Sam was here he had his haters and his backers and i was a backer myself. To appoint a manager who isnt much better than Sam would be a disaster waiting to happen, if it went tits up like it did for Sam, the usual crowd will want rid and those who backed Sam last time will want rid aswell because they will be thinking "well what the f*** was the point in sacking Sam? who we backed!". expectations now that we have a billionaire owner....i'd take redkanpp or hughes but would prefer others

So why let it last that long... why delay the inevitable (or the very likely), why not just get on with it and try and make the nightmare stop? With respect to booing making us look like a laughing stock, I think we've already set new standards for that. We're already such a joke, booing isn't going to change much. At least we'd look like we had some clue as to the type of manager we don't need. oh the booing has been creeping back in for a while, not just at SJP
-
Isn't that the exact same line of thought when Sam and Souness joined us? Look at what they did with that small club, imagine what they could do at our club with a bigger budget. So, how'd that work out for you then? Any reason it won't be the same again this time? What Souness, Roeder and Allardyce have proven to me is that there are 3 tiers of managers in the EPL. Those who manage clubs that move between the Championship and the EPL and specialize in getting teams promoted but can't go on with it, those that ensure their clubs stay in the EPL and will play whatever style of football that takes (long-ball, hyper-defensive, conservative, boring), and those that ensure their clubs stay in Europe (attract the super talented players, can spot talent no one else can, maintain an excellent scouting infrastructure, etc...). None of the managers we have had since SBR have been the type to keep us in Europe, but neither is Redknapp or Hughes. rather them than allardyce from what i've seen...hopefully none of them

I know this sounds like a wind up question, but it is genuine.... why? Given its fairly obvious that Redknapp would also be sacked inside of 18 months, since its unlikely he's going to do any better, why not boo him and let the owner know that he's fecked up and has to do better than that? Getting behind him and backing the appointment will only give Ashley and Mort the delusion they have done the right thing (either in sacking Sam or in appointing Redknapp). why is it fairly obvious ? Comparison of relative records. I think its fair to say that Redknapp's record is not better than Sam's, at best it might be classed as equivalent. Redknapp brings no unique skill sets that are better than Sam's, he has no additional capabilities beyond those of Sam's. So given his record isn't better, his skill set isn't better and his experience isn't better, why would anyone think he's going to be better than Sam? he has over recent seasons and who is to say what will happen when a manager form a club with "x" spending power steps up to a club with better (hopefully) spending power. i've watched pompey and allaryces bolton/newcastle...........one of them plays football
