  1. On a limited budget through FFP would they spend 20+mill on a squad player when there are glari g needs in the starting XI. I doubt we'd be so desperate for a squad striker if it wasn't for Wilsons injury record.
  2. Letting ASM go would make sense of the Harrison link though.
  3. Well we have been strongly linked with Harrison, which position did he play all last season ?

I am not Angus many numbers on RTG. I was on there years ago (Midds will vouch for that if he remembers) but haven't been on for years
  5. That's what I thought but I'm sure someone said earlier in the thread that them being debt free would have a bearing on it. That maybe if the debt was on the market and not to its owner who's unlikely to be charging interest and any sort of repayment.

Which bit don't you get ?
  7. Yeah I know the owner can't write it off so the takeover wiping out their debt shouldn't affect the FFP accounting ? Or does it ?

Oh deary me, looks like exile has been up to his old tricks again. https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/nufc-sportswashing-summer-2022.1582603/page-261#post- In which he posts from an article I'm sure was linked on here, I know I read it and while it makes some valid points about sportswashing, the bit in particular about the fans isn't exactly how he's made it out, in fact it actually goes against what he's trying to push. If you read the article it actually says..... "Few, if any, of their fellow fans would begrudge them that. Something of a myth has been allowed to take hold, over the last few years, about Newcastle’s fans. They have developed a reputation for being equal parts demanding and delusional, for believing their club uniquely deserving of a restoration to a place of prominence in English soccer’s firmament that it never, really, occupied in the first place. The reality is almost exactly the opposite. All Newcastle’s fans have ever really asked for is a team that is mildly entertaining to watch, and a bit of effort from those charged with running the club. The banner made that perfectly clear. Ashley’s affront was not failing to win; it was robbing them of the hope that they might." https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2021/10/08/sports/soccer/newcastle-saudi-arabia-premier-league What a whopper !
  9. But it seems like the debt went up 400mill in 4 yrs 2018 until the sale ?
  10. Which is what I was hinting at. I'm going to have to have a look and try and find, if the figures were right, where that extra 400mill in 4 yrs went.
  11. Apparently 1.17bn in 2018, 1.5bn when sold. That's Chelsea debt owed to Abramovic. Edit I'm currently at work, might have to have a look at Chelseas Swiss Ramble when I get home if I remember/can be bothered
  12. If we are not now looking at Paqueta because his is not a role we are looking at right now, what role did we have in mind for him when (if) we were asking about him in January ?
  13. But isn't that what Chelsea have done ?
  14. Hang on, just been mulling this over and is that how FFP works ? I thought it was on a kind of accounting debt, reading your way Ashley could have had a quiet agreement with PIF last Summer to buy 500mill worth of players, it gets "paid off" on the takeover and we are round FFP. Any know if that's how it works ?
  15. Desperation at that time and weakening a rival. We aren't in that position now.
  16. I mentioned that I had no idea why he would do that travelling when there's no need.
  17. I'd imagine pretty much every city in the UK is class if you're in the top 2% of earners.
  18. Why has he been away from his family for a long time ? Purely his/their choice and its easy to make an argument that there is no reason for it.
  19. Yip. Much preferred the old style when there were few rumours. You could go weeks without anything then the Chron would report a signing, John Anderson or Steve Hardwick then it would all go quiet.

Is that what the bookies think or a reaction to money going on them.
  21. We know and we have. See Elitike and Botman but there's overpaying and overpaying. Seems they know they'll have to pay more than the going rate, they allow for that but there's only so far they'll go. ie 20mill player we bid 20 then 25 but say we'll walk away if they say 30.
  22. I start work today at 4pm. If I was to have to start work right now Id be working in a pair of late 90s style NUFC shorts, an underarmor T-shirt and no socks instead of the uniform I'm normally required to wear. Teeth unbrushed as I don't do them until I've finished breakast.
  23. Not sure about Pope, looking forward to see him in a better quality set up. Remember the circumstances for Burn was we were desperate in the short term after bids for Carlos and Botman were turned down and agree about Targett.
  24. We are more attractive than a Wolves, Brighton or Palace, not as attractive as those clubs who can offer European football now and have a recent history of it. Villa have done well with Kamara, not so sure about Carlos given his price and age and they had Coutinho last season. Be interesting if they keep building.
