Double penetra......I mean pivot usually has a 3 in front of it. I do hanker back to the days of two old school do it all centre mids like.
-
Not o ly that but could Maxi do the defensive work needed should Joe be pulled over a bit, even then Wood done a fair bit of it last season.
-
Think I have as well. Heres to hopefully getting players to improve both. Saying that I think Willock is worth persevering with to develop.
-
Paqueta is quite creative as well, he'll open gaps for Brunos passing and more possession totally changes our game.
-
It is a priority, I've said a few times that those two are the two positions we are weakest. I don't see upgraded the wing alone as helping us dominate possession as much as upgrading that midfield role.
-
3k is probably from Matt.
-
Nor me with Diaby, I just think Paqueta would give us more.
-
And even more with a player like Paqueta alongside them.
-
Agreed but many clubs will be weakened after losing a main player like that. We'd also be stronger in there for having Paqueta in such a situation.
-
Stuff the assist stat for the time being considering we had little possession, no attacking midfield and Wood and it wouldn't be dead with Paqueta.
-
Agree. Paqueta could also negate the desperate need to get a 2nd forward.
-
I mean the game we are playing in here, either/or Pacqueta/Diaby ?
-
Probably but that's not the game we're playing.
-
You mean basically what we did at the end of the season but Willock instead of Longstaff ? I'm sure that was the plan anyway.
-
They'd increase because they'd have Paqueta and Wilson to play with as opposed to Longstaff/Willock and Wilson and because wed have more of the ball with Bruno.in the middle than Shelvey.
-
Which is exactly why Bruno was brought in, to be that central playmaker, to help dominate possession and transition the ball.
-
No. You saw how we improved with Bruno instead of Shelvey instead of Bruno further forward. We'll not dictate possession with Shelvey there as he can't move with the ball anywhere near good enough. With Pacqueta and a forward anyone playing wide right gerts more options, it's not ideal but neither is Shelvey as the holding player or Longstaff to Brunos right. FWIW I would bet if we get Paqueta we'd still get someone for the right.
-
Hang on how do you get those line ups ? Are you just naming 3 better players and 3 worse ones and sating choose when it's nothing like that.
-
Then Shelvey in the middle ?
-
With better players to aim for may the be at least as good options as Longstaff or Willock for right of a middle 3 ?
-
That would put Diaby wide right with Longstaff or Willock next to Bruno or Bruno there and Shelvey back in. I'll go Pacqueta under those circumstances. Fraser looked a much better player under Howe and with players moving and to aim for probably wouldn't look half as bad.
-
The door is as open as it was before as I doubt he'll leave for much less than he would have before his transfer request (if it was an official request).
-
He only played further up with Shelvey as the base to ease him in. At the end of the season he took Shelveys place and we could all see how much better we were because of it. Spot on about everything else.
-
Just as much chance he could be happier if he's successful there.
-
Can anyone remember the last time we heard a chant at SJP directed at them ?
