  1. Surely that depends on if it results in 2m being knocked off the asking price in the summer? All the figures the last day or two were £2m plus £13m in the summer. Hence why we should've bought and not loaned for £13m yup, a decent winger for£13m that would have been good enough for our premiership squad. not many of those around unless you take a risk with someone from abroad. I've got a feeling the £13m release clause only kicks in at the end of the season, otherwise we could have just triggered it by putting in an offer. Either that or Townsend/us didn't want to commit to a permanent deal until we are officially promoted. Probably both.
  2. Thats partially what I think it comes down to. CPFC "He's your's for 13mill" NUFC "Well we don't want to commit and I don't think he does till we are certain of promotion, how about 2mill now and the balance if we come up. If we don't come up you keep the 2 and can sell him to someone else for whatever ?" CPFC "13mill now or 2 now and 13mill in the summer" It's a possibilty.
  3. If he doesn't walk does it mean he's in agreeance ?

3-0 Palace. Townsend hattrick. So that's why we let him stay there.
  5. FFP is worked out over the year though isn't it, meaning they'll have the summer to make any adjustments ?
  6. Absolute motherfucker by all accounts.
  7. All much better options than Colback then. There's only one person that would play Colback before Anita, Diame or even Carke or Mbemba if Hayden or Shelvey aren't there.
  8. Wouldn't be too surprised if he wants the loan (in case we don't come up), we want the loan, (in case we don't come up) they will sell for 13mill but want 2mill loan fee then 13mill in the summer if we do come up.
  9. If we weren't talking about Mike Ashley's nufc I'd agree entirely. I can totally see that....hope it's not though. Rafa was my defence in all this type of stuff. I thought he'd be off straight away if Ashley strated up the crap again.
  10. I'm not saying he's been 'screwed over'. I just don't buy for one second that we failed to sign players purely for reasons out of our control - at best we've decided it's 'too expensive'. We've chose not to sign them and it's looking like the news coming out at the start of the window is true. Mike Ashley has form for this so I'm not sure why people find the concept so hard to believe. From Caulkin: Rafa has pushed for 2 additions and wanted them. That's of greater concern to me. yeah, but Benitez hasn't been trying for what he would consider bad signings. I think he should have been backed. I know because I've been told. Hopefully things will settle down - January is always a tense month. (other bloke "I'm speculating that's the case. And that the "backing" would also have to come from MA. Not sure tbh.") has been an issue. Rafa has worked hard on transfers, permanents & loans. Anyway, let's see how next 24hrs plays out ... (other bloke "any reason why we aren't just buying Townsend now and saving ourselves £2m?") well I suppose the club would say that's an expensive outlay if they don't go up. But aye, maybe I'm just a mentalist. Maybe the player himself wants a loan at this point. He can then hedge his bets, even if it's a loan with obligation to buy IF we get promoted, it's better for the player than sign now and we don't go up.
  11. Because, he is a football person and he cares about how he spends his life, what he does with his life, and he intends to get us promoted. Then, if the rumours of the recent Ashley involvement in transfers policy are true (as seems worryingly likely) then he will be off . . . straight away. So he's quite happy to be a patsy in the short term ? He's not the man I thought he was then,
  12. Because it wouldn't be surprising if they told him he'd have funds for the summer and then the same thing happens. Only next time leaving us with a poor Premiership squad which he probably won't accept. In that case you'd think even more that he'd have the clout to say"back me now or I go"
  13. i don't think its negativity, just folk reacting to a defeat and trying to find out why. Rafa has us all behind him in truth, you know that. Some of us realise that, but does Rafa? He's not been shown the love or had love for the local area like other popular managers we've had in the past (Robson, Keegan), I can see him thinking this job being an unthankful poison chalice the way things are going and never reaching the same connection with the club at this rate, and why? Because of some areas of the support moaning for very little reason and not getting behind him more. You sometimes hear people bang on about Newcastle fans being the best in the world, I think they're some of the most negative. Robson and Keegan saved us and went quickly on to make us one of the best teams in the country.
  14. So no change to normal rules then ? For us rush keeper was fog man back (for the forrins out there "fog" in this instance means "first"), First player back behind a designsted area, usually a stone, was allowed to handle the ball. Not as far as i remember, but tbf we would get bored and eventually just play 'snappy football' until somebody got hurt/died. Oh aye, that reminds me, someone mentioned earlier about playing heads and volleys till the keeper got hurt....me and a mate made a game of this, once we got a stooge to be the keeper, thinking he was playing heads and volleys but really our game was to hit the keeper, points awarded for where, arms legs, 1 point, torso 5 points, head, 10, knocked over 20 etc. extra pointed awarded for yelps and blood. In fact if you search on this very forum " grand master oomph" you'll find a mention of it, knew I had, back in 2011. No quote box next to it and I lack the nouse to do it.

  16. Rush keeper was fog man back round our way. What else could rush keeper be ?
  17. Who does have the best squad in the Championship then? Can't be Brighton obviously. Must be one of the teams below both oif us.
  18. Doesn't need to be, Does if we stick to 4-2-3-1 at all times without suitable personnel.
  19. think the term we actually used was blastas tbh. Been on this subject before, some areas ended things with -a, some areas -y. Newbiggin hall was an -y area, nicknames, slang terms etc, West Denton was an -a area. Bonna neet, Bonny neet etc. aye, we had blastas, bonna neet, snadga, Nicknames tended to end in -y, Snadga though, that was just a word that ended in 'a', it was never a snadgy.

  21. Correct, particularly from short distance. Cheers Do you know of, "rush keeper", "5 pots in" and "maker taker" ? Cuppas and, heads and volleys Cuppas ? Would that be World cup singles/doubles etc ? (I'm still the reigning cup holder of beach world cup singles from when all the lads used to go on holiday every may, close on 20yrs I've held that title now) Need to set the rules down for heads'n'volleys as there were loads of variations depending on where you lived. cuppas- would be knock out singles- 1 keeper- any amount of outfield- you score your through- last person left is out, and then a next round til 1 on 1 final. Aye, world cup singles we called it, also played in doubles format.
  22. Do you know of, "rush keeper", "5 pots in" and "maker taker" ? Asking mates about these and whilst we know "rush keeper", we are guessing that "maker taker" refers to an instance that if you make the penalty you take it and the best thing we can come up with for "5 pots in" means if you either score 5 goals as an outfield player, you go in goal or if as a keeper you let 5 in then someone else takes a turn in goal. Are we close? Better than close, spot on. 5 Pots in being you score 5 then it's your turn ion goal when in a 3 man game, 1 V 1 with a keeper.
  23. Oh and in some areas it was "nee blammas"
  24. Playing in front of garage doors, nee blasties was important as the noise was thunderous and the locals would call the police, who would then chase us round the streets til they gave up. Garages was brilliant, surpised Sky sports hasn't made it for the summer. We played in a park where there were no garages but it was still called that.
