we are basically where I started with Newcastle in the early to mid 70's, a team that could be as good one week as they could be bad the week after and disenchantment with the board. could even put ben arfa in the jimmy smith role as inconsistent sometime genius.
  2. not too keen on the idea myself, we hate chelsea and citeh for being a rich mans plaything and earning f*** all so can't say I'd be happy if we done exactly that. Wrong - we DON'T hate Chelsea and Spurs because they are rich men's playthings...we hate them because we are not in the same league but have bigger crowds. I couldn't give a toss how we get success as long as we get it and you are forgetting that in the 90s WE were the ones doing the spending with SJH and KK - remember Shearer etc ? speak for yourself, I don't hate spurs, as far as I'm aware their spending is based on what they've earned and their own risk (debt), like we did, SJH didn't give a hand out, a hand in if anything as he was a taker out of cash unlike abramovic.meanwhile many complain that that sort of thing is killing the game. so what about ashleys gambling, it's his money, why don't you put more of your money into the club ?
  3. not too keen on the idea myself, we hate chelsea and citeh for being a rich mans plaything and earning f*** all so can't say I'd be happy if we done exactly that. Aren't we already a rich mans plaything, just that ours spends f*** all on us. well I suppose he has spent over 100mill on us but that was clearing the bank debt (and I have no doubt he'll get that back one way or another). you surely don't need it spelling out the difference between say, abramovic and ashley ? Nope, i thought was pretty clear in the point i made in my previous post. must've misunderstood it. I don't see is as a play thing for ashley, we are very much a business, as opposed to abramovic and chelsea. Ah i see what you mean. I think Ashley did indeed buy us as a plaything, it went tits up with the bad decisions he's made and now he treats us just like any other of his businesses. Not losing money as the aim in the short term (and to get his loan back in the long term, which was his own fault for not doing the due diligence). We suffer because he f***ed up multiple times, rather annoying to say the least. we'd have suffered either way as no one who done due dilligence would've bought us (see belgravia and polygon). I don't think he bought us as a plaything, for me his plan was to invest a little in order to sell later and make a profit while also getting exposure for his other companies. he had to onvest more than he wanted after the purchase and he's running it to a business plan. we couldn't be much more different to chelsea.

always seems to be in groups of 6 games aswell. is this the standard counting system in Sunderland ?

Aye....then divide it by 4 and you'll be even nearer! I like the remove TEEN idea as its still so far out, theres no oneteen, or twoteen or even threeteen.

    Loïc Remy

the second one when watching "live" you think he hits it full on but only on a couple of angles do you see he side foots it.
  11. anyone pointed out how important today was given the run of games we have coming, probably our worst run of games in this seasons fixtures ?

    Sunderland

in all seriousness they are due a relegation in years that end with a number.

    Loïc Remy

he'll get injured or arrested when away with France wont he ?
  14. not often I agree with wullie but we were both screaming for us to get him when he was on loan at bolton.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

say what ? Play him on the right or in the centre and he'll be class but I don't rate him as an orthodox winger - especially against a team strong on the flanks such as Everton. His footballing philosophy isn't as simple as bombing down the wing and smashing it in the box - which he was asked to do. The best balance is Remy on the left and Hatem on the right - Coleman had the measure of him all night and I think most right backs would've - stick him on the other flank and he'll torture the best full back in the world. don't know wjat he was asked to do V everton, whatever it was he didn't do it, following on from crap against hull. I'd be surprised if it's not just those recent games but also in training.

technically, as shareholdings go, it's more theirs than ours I think.

interesting move mind, one goal up, last few minutes, bring off a worker to bring on a player supposedly dropped for not working enough.
  18. thought we dominated them in the first half and could easily have been another couple of goals up.

    Sunderland

only saw the first half and didn't think they looked too bad.
  20. watched the game in a local pub, the feed must've been 2 or 3 mins behind so a shout went out "one nil, remy" lead to mass checking of phones to confirm, then 30secs of watching, waiting for us to get the ball, then near hysteria when we got the ball "go on remy, shoot", go on, GO ON!", then the "spontaneous" celebration as he scored. rarely felt happier with football than at that moment, loads of us as one in on a joke that was instantly understood and followed through. the joy of football, it's rarely about the result, thew wittering on about tactics etc, it's best point boiled down to that 2minutes.

rooney RVP fellaini and anderson all out apparently.
  23. he possibly thought ben arfa wouldn't have the workrate to stop baines and might get some joy on the other side. before anyone slags it off too much it's been tried before at goodison by keegan with gillespie and ginola playing on the "wrong" wings in shearers debut.
