i'd have started anita for sissoko today, however sissoko had a decent game and seems to scare cole.

when they had a player in the second half go down beside the goal by the advertising, did anyone hear someone from the family section screaming "he's off the pitch, play on, he's off the f***ing pitch man" as the ref tried to kill play. that was me!

Can we really be expected to be at Chelsea for ninety minutes? What was important today, was that we were good all over the pitch, more so defensively. We had a game plan and it worked. Had we played like that first half there's a decent chance we'd have walked away with nothing. It was our poor first half that set it up nicely in the second. It lulled them in to a false sense of security, as Chelsea got stuck in first gear while we turned it on, and for a change took our chances. We've had little periods like that now and then and we never actually get the goals to go with it, we usually end up conceding but today was just one of those days everything went right once we started playing. Chelsea stepped it up and were playing much better when trying to get the equaliser, but we fought well at the back, got a little bit lucky then done them with the second. Good night Chelsea, jobs a goodun. usually i'd argue a point but that post only deserves a "fuck me!!"

sounds better if you say it in years "we've lost there twice in at least 36 years"

height and berbatov isn't actually too bad a header of the ball (if a bit gutless)
-
was it not that the plan was for berbatov to mark whoever and parkers role was to pick up stuff on the edge should anything fall there, a mix of man and zonal marking ?
-
pardew wanted to sign him for us, carr said no.
-
nowt to do with it being a derby (though that heightens the emotions) but the jekyll and hyde performances we've put in this season.

no one has said any different, if anything it makes it more galling that he has to be a twat when there is no need.

again he's following the owenite line of contact=foul when it really doesn't. it's aline we've been fed for years and it really is a load of bollocks. Aye. 'Entitled to go down' is such an awful line. can't understand why someone hasn't challeneged them on this, it's the prevailing orthodoxy and it's wrong.

echoes of stevie watson at anfield.

in the two away games we've won so far we've started well, dominated almost from the off and been well worthy of taking the lead, do that again and I really couldn't see tham coming back.

interviewed by tubes on this mornings soccer am. steven taylor came out of it quite well as the club joker. never mentioned dr spacemans girlfriend, mother or sister.
-
wonder whats the record number of managers sacked/left post in a top flight season ?
-
didn't there used to be ?
-
My girlfriend, mother and sister all think he's perfect 'boyfriend material'. How can I compete with Tim f***ing Krul... you want to compete with tim krul for your mothers and sisters affections ?

If you want to shrug your shoulders and just broadly collect two thirds of the division together like that, then cool. I see there being clear differences between you and Sunderland beyond the tangible aspects you've mentioned (which, fwiw, provide a massive distinction by themselves). That's not some pro-Newcastle bollocks just because I'm here. I think the difference is clear to see. Going "well, at the end of the day, we're pretty much on the same level looking for the same things" strikes me as lacking passion and conviction. I'm not using the word "purpose" in a strict, literal sense either. No club is definitively "meant" to do X, Y or Z, but it's clear where Sunderland's position is. I think trying to categorise yourselves as being in roughly the same position is to do a massive disservice to you as a club, and would seem in line with the systematic attempts of lowering of fans' expectations your owner/manager appear intent on persisting with. It goes beyond football IMO. Newcastle as a city is far more attractive, cosmopolitan and distinctive. Sunderland just looks like a poor man's version in every respect. They are so obsessed with us they even redesigned their club badge to look more like ours. That's not bias talking either, Durham City is in Wearside, but it's an attractive destination in it's own right. Unlike the shithole known as Sunderland. the spiteful rivalries do. liverpool/manchester is similar in that it goes beyond football, the story going that the manchester ship canal saw an end to liverpool as a port of world significance and the antipathy between the two cities as a result. I did here a story about the non football tensions between cardiff and swansea (in my mind the only derby that comes close to ours for spite) but I'm buggered if I can remember it.

at a guess "fuck off you bar code bassa"

we're scrapping for mid table. they're scrapping to avoid setting a new record for lowest points for the third time in a generation.
