  1. Seems like a nice lad but if he's not going to sign on then I'd show him the door. Where ever he goes after this will be a step down and Santon will probably take his place soon anyway (I don't see him as a left back, at least not until he's settled in).
  2. Excuse me, yes some of us may work with sunderland fans etc, but, where would you rather live up here or down there. I live in Washington. Mogadishu looks canny from where I'm sitting. Obviously Newcastle is a far nicer city that Sunderland. My point is that we're not 14 miles apart and they go on like we're a different species. It baffles me
  3. The class debate is fucking bizarre. Any debate about difference between the two sets of fans is bizarre. We're all from the North East, we're all affected by the same socioeconomic factors, we go to the same schools, work in the same jobs etc. and yet they genuinely believe that the football club you support defines us as human beings? Mad.
  4. He's back in full training but may not feature, presumably because he's not up to speed.
  5. Forum history man. Page 160 onwards is solid gold. The discussion over whether it really was Newcastle Airport he was at
  6. Seem to recall Bernard wanted 25k pr week to reflect his position in the team (which would still be one of the lowest wages in the first team) and Shepherd not budging on the 20k offer he made him. It was all down to Souness according to Bernard. “I wanted to stay. I was enjoying my football, but it all changed very quickly. I don’t regret what happened. I left because I had to. “The club stopped negotiating with me. Bobby got sacked, Graeme Souness came and he had completely different views. He killed the momentum and the team. He sat me down in our first meeting, said this is the contract, sign it now or you’re out. “He said ‘I’ve got another player to come anyway, I don’t think you’re that good’. That player was Celestine Babayaro. I was really upset. I said ‘you don’t even know me, you’ve hardly seen me play.’ He wanted me out and I went. “Everything was perfect for me, Souness ruined it. He deflated everything and everyone left. He didn’t like young players, he didn’t like difficult characters, he ruined the club.”
  7. What? http://deadhomersociety.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/tellmemore.png
  8. Apparently he stood up at the end of the post match press conference against Arsenal, raised his fists above his head and shouted "YES!!!" That's a tad Partridgesque.
  9. There's a reason CT was banned from Toontastic. The bloke is a horrific dullard.
  10. Good luck to the bloke. I can't hate him. The club was an absolute fucking shambles and if I was in the latter years of my career with only a fleeting connection to a football team that'd just got relegated and a big, fat offer from a top flight side on the table I'd have been out the door too. He shouldn't have made those comments before he left though. Ill advised. In the end it worked out well for us. He was never the same player after Cattermole did him in.
  11. They have to take all of that down for the Olympics anyway.
  12. The same newspaper that says AVB isn't too far from the sack.
  13. Complete horseshite I'm afraid. Nike to sponsor the stadium and more importantly the kit which we already know Puma are making? More chance of catching your lass getting fudded off the Pope.
  14. "He's being chased by Russian shits in black jumpsuits with lemon piping!" Aye, it's a good'un.
  15. This, perfectly. Carly Simon - Nobody Does It Better Right? More this.
  16. In my experience fans at the away games closer to home seem to be charva cunts, so I'm not surprised some twat took a roman candle into the ground and decided to act the big'un.
  17. I thought he had a good game today. Didn't get a chance to do much but when he could get his head down and run with the ball he always managed to draw a corner out of them. Hope he keeps it up.
  18. My two-penneth, which I am going to give without engaging in the dick swinging that half of this thread do over a player of which we have seen nowt to little of: He was good. That's it. Although that's nothing to do with lack of talent, it's to do with lack of the ball. He lost it on one or two occasions (as you expect from a flair player) but alongside Sammy he was easily our most creative outlet and showed a bit of class by creating two chances out of nothing - one for Ba in the first half and one for himself in the second. He's only going to get better with game time so I'd start him against Man United. At worst he gets minutes under his belt, at best he creates havoc and helps us collect a few points. Now he's coming to fitness he's got to start somewhere.
  19. Didn't Owen used to leach lifts off Nicky Butt too and from training?
  20. Whilst I understand what you mean, everyone knows people like him are the minority, especially dressed/looking like that. Nevertheless, similar fans around the world who share his level of passion for their clubs will applaud him for taking a stance. So fuck the fact he looks like a wanker to 95% of the population because he'll be in the good books of that twat with the bell in Portsmouth?
  21. The Grauniad's line up predictions are always miles off the mark, however I think Santon would work out defensively on the right wing in a similar way to Jonas on the left.
