And? He still had two years to go on his current deal. There was no need to do anything until next Summer at least. I agree completely, although I'd be very surprised if Nolan's agent wasn't sounding out alternative deals elsewhere once talks broke down. We can't put a gun to a players head and force them out, just look at Smith.

Neither the club or the player will come out of this well if it is true. It speaks volumes about our policy of cutting players loose the minute they become too big in the dressing room but it also does Nolan no favours if he's willing to drop down a league for one last big pay day.
