This whole fucking club is a plague now.

No one's said it's racist Phil K has over-thought peoples objections to his objection: "Well I'm skeptical of the Nigerian bid, but people are questioning my skepticism, and since Nigerians are black they must think I'm only skeptical because I'm racist. WELL I'M NOT." When the only objection to his objection is that there's too little information to really decide one way or the other as of yet.

I'm willing to tempt fate by asking how much worse could it possibly get? As for me, I wasn't even walking when we were in the lower divisions so I can't imagine what it was like. This is pretty bad though, not happy with anything about this situation at all.

? There was some posted on here iirc, nothing with quotes or anything but they said we had moved for him before it had been picked up in the tabloids over here. I never heard anything down here from any respectable source (and my local paper is from Munich and normally quite well informed). There might have been interest, yes, but from what I know from reports down here a deal was rather unlikely. Therefore I especially do not believe the story (NOTW version IIRC) that Bayern actually had agreed a fee and it was Schweinsteiger who turned us down. The whole Schweinsteiger story looked like a big smokescreen iyam. I have no idea why Bayern would even sell or Schweinsteiger would even leave. I thought he was something of a cult figure for them already.

How about someone who didn't nearly relegate a team five times stronger than ours in his last job, six years ago. Someone who's biggest achievement in the last fifteen years is more impressive than winning seven games out of twenty six with Boro. We've got a better manager running our academy for fuck sake. Look, I'm not saying he's perfect and I thought my post made that abundantly clear, but suggesting Money would do better is ludicrous. I don't think there's anyone else we could realistically bring in as "good" (relatively) as Venables.

Why is that so difficult to understand ? What's difficult to understand is your combative and antagonistic nature over a matter that all people are in the dark over. You know as little as any on here about the true state of any NVA finances, but you're posing questions that you yourself can't answer (e.g. "where is their collateral") and then presuming that because someone optimistic can't answer that your own negative assumption must be true.

Two hours later and still the only dancing smiley vote. Seriously, in light of the events and turmoil at the club, who are we realistically going to get in? Terim? Mourinho? Hiddink? Hitzfeld? The club is going to be sold, there's no two ways about it. The new owners will want their own person in. We need a steadying hand until such time and while the list of managers who would take the position might be crap, you have to be pragmatic about it and concede that Venables is about the best of that crap pile we can get in the short term. It's in no way an admission or capitulation that we can't do better in the long term or that standards have lowered -- it's just the reality of the situation in the interim.
