I think worst incorporates a number of things. Owen had a negative impact on all levels of the club especially our finances. This is the key factor. The other candidates didn't contribute very much. Owen actually had a negative effect. Apart from the huge amount of money wasted that could have been spent elsewhere, managers were afraid to drop him because of his reputation. If his name had been Jack Smith he wouldn't have played in half the games that he did. Injuries had rendered him an ordinary player. Owen actually had at least one positive impact in him actually.... and that's his goals. I don't know how anybody could deny that. A big twat and a wanker? Yes, absolutely. But I'm not going let our hatred of him blind my judgement here.

Naivety? Lack of experience you mean? Nothing unusual for a young player. He came against WBA and had a hand in gaining us 2 extra points. Came on against Man Utd, hit the post and we could have went away with something. Played well and set-up the winning goal against Bruges (h). Set-up the equaliser against Bruges (a). It's not a bad impact from a player who gets a game every now and then. He generally looks lively and capable of making things happen...... he hardly looks anonymous or lost, does he?

Why would we send Sammy on loan when he's made a quite a good impact whenever he's played this season? Can't afford to lose many of our attacking players. He's very useful to come-on late in games and try to take advantage of tired legs. I think, for someone of his age, he's doing well and is playing enough games to see him progress.
