I love how the papers and rumour sites work. If we'd signed Baines/Shorey, there would be none of this, but because a) the Enrique deal was not made a huge deal of and b) no-one had really heard of him anyway, we still tick the "Do they need a left back? Yeah probably, stick their name down, let's go down the pub" box that all football rumour mills operate on, hence we're still "linked" with Shorey and whoever else the rumour sites pick out of World Football magazine.

What did we play at the weekend? I honestly couldn't hear, the ovation was very loud.

You've already said that once.

Christ I'm fucking sick of this. When will the shitty red tops leave us alone?

It's oh so quiet. Shit I've done that one. -
Funny coming from an arsenal fan.. but i absolutely agree with you- no point having some radical non-direct freekick this or toss them off for 20 minutes that.. just educate the refs on what a dive looks like and book the offenders, full stop. I agree tossing them off for 20 minutes wouldn't work. We're supposed to be punishing their behaviour, not rewarding it. Besides, there'd be no point doing it any more after approximately 6 of those minutes. Speak for yourself.

At one point in the 1960s, Villa had three midfield players called Brown, Arce and Hole. They never played together, apparently, which was a terrible shame. Arce was a south american of some description.

Love the Sib. See that mob are signing Andy Cole. They'll be bringing in Boumsong and Maric before long, looks like the best they can do is our cast offs.

Hardly suitable to use the club's nickname.

What does he say? -
Radical eh? but yes indirect free kicks, with the offending player receiving a yellow card. Also had radical thoughts on how to punish teams that have loads of yellow cards, and might make refs think twice about booking players for innocuous challenges. If a player gets a yellow card he has to leave the pitch, say 20 minutes from the end of the match, i.e he is withdrawn after 70 minutes and takes no further part in the match. He cannot be replaced by a sub. Any player getting booked after 70 has to leave the pitch immediately. Would have made the Liverpool v Chelsea game interesting as 9 players were booked in that game! Was hoping for something more radical. How about: no pens, but the team that has been disadavantaged by the foul gets a throw-in directly parallel the 18-yard box. It is to be taken in the normal way, BUT no one is allowed to touch the ball other than the opposing keeper who has to stand on the the opposite side of the pitch from where the throw-in's taken. The goalkeeper gets a head start based on the scores of 3 pitchside judges who've cast their votes on the severity of the original offence. Who are they throwing it to?

I'm looking forward to finding out what these geysers are up to. Blatently stolen from .com. I hadn't actually. Bah! Bastards have stolen my thunder. > I'm still claiming the gag though. -

Anyone who was against this before still of the same opinion? If I was a Fulham fan right now, I wouldn't be 'glad' of the post match debate whether or not the ball had crossed the line or grateful for the few seconds extra thanks to not stopping the game to find out whether a goal was a goal or not.

I think Viduka's going to suffer without someone to link up with. His partnership with Yakubu has been one of the league's most potent over the last couple of years, he's always worked best with a clinical finisher to link up with. I think one of Martins or Owen could be lethal alongside him.

Milner could flourish through the middle where his lack of pace is irrelevant, I've said that for a while now. N'Zogbia would be better suited to the wing as he can stretch the play with his pace. Smith would be suited to Boro, the signing of Faye would make his even more ridiculous. As have I. Kind of a tricky situation we find ourselves in regarding Milner. As an individual, his performances the first two games have been very good. But it does somewhat upset the balance of the team as his lack of pace is a problem. You need pace out wide, especially in a 4-3-3 where you'll typically have a target man type in the center. I'd be very excited to see N'Zogbia and Martins either side of Viduka tbh. Well put. I'm still not sure about Martins in this 4-3-3 mind, he barely got into the game at all on Saturday, though I'm not sure about the 4-3-3 at all at home. Our central midfielders probably work best in that system, cos I like a few of them, but our strikers and our wide men are best in a 4-4-2. Interesting problem to solve.

He's better than Chris Kirkland, he's absolutely hopeless.

We'll know tomorrow after Olly's been on the blower to his mates in Reykjavik. -
I've never understood the dislike which some people have for Harper. Good keeper, I don't really worry about Shay's injuries as long as Harps is ok to cover. He makes the odd error, yes he does - we're spoiled because we have the keeper who probably makes the least number of big errors in the league. After some of the clangers we've seen over the past week from Lehmann and Cech, who a lot of people here would happily squirt over, among others, I'm happy with Harper as cover.
