You were insecure enough not to want us to sign Bowyer on the grounds he was found innocent under a court of law of charges that you (like others) become self righteous about. He wasn't found innocent in McDonalds at Charlton, nor was he found innocent of taking drugs, nor was he found innocent of a vicious stamp on the head of a Malaga player. As a player, I didn't think Bowyer was worth the hassle, which turned out to be true since his most memorable act at NUFC is the fight with Dyer. Same stance with Barton, I admit it's possibly a hypocritical one, but more simply a matter of pros and cons. They're both a pair of horrible little scrotes.

Just posted this on TT, might as well post it here since a couple of people have mentioned Allardyce getting the best out of Diouf: Diouf's problems were never off-field (apart from the wife-beating allegations which iirc were never substantiated), on the field he's a total wanker and continues to be, but like Bellamy, when he's playing for you, you try and brush it off. Allardyce got him playing well, but I don't really think there were many attitude problems to curb other than performance. I'd hate to sign Diouf too fwiw, spitting on anyone, but particularly children, is despicable, along with him being a diving, cheating bastard. Barton though is a total headcase imo. You'd think when your brother has gone down for murdering a teenager with an axe, you'd do your best to keep your head down off the pitch to try and stop anyone from tarring you with the same brush but he's done the exact opposite. Maybe, hypocritically, I could put up with it if he was brilliant, but he's not, not by a long shot.

I don't particularly rate Barton and the fact that he's a maniac hardly does him any favours. Don't want him here under any circumstances tbh. I'd warm to him like I warmed to Bowyer after I was desperate not to sign him, simply because he played for us, but I'd prefer us just to steer well clear.

I think Parker gets too much stick and doing a purely defensive midfield job can be excellent but £8.5m is way over the odds for a limited player. I'd like to see us keep Emre too, see if we can get some consistency out of him.

Don't really rate Barton or Reo Coker any higher or lower than Parker. They're all much-of-a-muchness and Barton's a psychopath. Be slightly disappointed to see either of them come in tbh.
