  1. Aye, get some moral victory against our relegation rivals etc. That went well.

    Loïc Remy

Think you could quite easily put together a team of players from various mid-table Premier League teams who are "better" than the ones in Leicester's team, but would be very dangerous to upset the apple cart at this point. The whole point is that they are a splendid team, and much better than the sum of their parts. I certainly wouldn't want a character like Remy replacing Vardy when the chips are down.
  3. Aye, they've never quite clocked that there's quite an easy way to tell in football whether something is working or not.
  4. I knew John Irving pretty well in our teens and he was a passionate fan and loved going to the match. It's a real shame that he's now happy to be the mouthpiece for this regime. But I guess he gets paid enough that he's willing to toe the line. That's even worse if he used to be a fan. I'd always assumed he was just a numbers man with a passing interest because of his job. When I knew John in the early 90’s he was a huge Newcastle fan. Simon Esland was similar, a big Newcastle fan that ended up landing a high profile job at the club. Although he’s now left and gone back to Vodafone.
  5. As an aside, looking at his loan record, he and Colback were teammates at Ipswich for the first half of the 10/11 season. They eventually finished 13th but when those two left at the turn of the year they were around 19th. Not like Jackie to be hovering round the drop zone.
  6. A fairly significant amount of those Townsend appearances must be in the lower leagues if it's since Obertan came here? Quite impressed you managed to find his assists record from when he was at MK Dons like.
  7. How is that even comparable "probably the sort of ignorant armchair fans who decided Jack Colback wasn’t good enough to play for England before the 2016 Euros, even though he was a regular in the Newcastle and Sunderland sides that had narrowly avoided relegation for five consecutive seasons." Imagine if that was the sentence.
  8. Our squad is full of internationals, you'd think our fans would realise it doesn't mean much if you're a shit team. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/11062428/Mocking-Jack-Colbacks-England-call-up-is-nothing-but-ignorance-and-stupidity-from-armchair-fans.html Fucking hell, how have I never seen that before?
  9. Obviously tongue in cheek but there'll be loads now who'll have that opinion for real, not being able to grasp that 8 years of chronic under investment has forced his hand and he'll now be sh*tting himself over the possibility of missing out on next seasons TV bonanza. Unfortunately for him, even if we do sign a striker, the manager he appointed to get the results needed clearly isn't capable of doing so. While I'm sure he is very worried about relegation, we spent £50m+ in the summer too when he could have sat back and seen how things went. Ridiculous statement. Take Wijnaldum, Mitrovic and Mbemba out of this squad and "seen how things went"? We'd be propping up Aston Villa. Summer spending wasn't about doing the minimum to survive though. Spending more than 18 other clubs isn't a strategy to just survive. Our current position says otherwise. They had to spend all that because they'd let the squad run down to one barely capable of winning a single game, and it still wasn't enough.

  12. They're still in the FA Cup and still in Europe like. There's been plenty of game time to go round.
  13. Surprised you've never mentioned this before.
  14. They'll be getting the "7-in-a-row" shirts printed as we speak.
  15. People keep saying this. He wasn't released because he wasn't good enough. Nobody genuinely believes that. He was released because he fell out with the manager and influential members of the squad - like he did at previous clubs. This is no James Milner situation where people felt he genuinely wasn't good enough. Your mate didn't think he was good enough, that's why he kept dropping him from the team for Shola, for Taylor, for Obertan, for whoever he could find, for three years prior to his release. That's a fact.
  16. He's got the knack Levy like. Imagine us getting double figures for someone who's having to play with the reserves. Clever business brain that Ashley. He sees the logic in giving much better players away for nothing then spending £30m and counting trying to replace them.
  17. Just get the fucking deal done, got him to join us at 5/2.
  18. They say he went missing then immediately describe all our first half chances as involving him.
  19. I'm notoriously impatient with managers so it won't come as a surprise to many that I'd want him the fuck out. The stuff you play is absolutely chronic.
  20. Of course not, but our players always seems to get injured again just after returning from injury, surely that has something to do with the physio not doing his job properly and allowing them back too soon? He's not been injured though? He's been on the bench the last couple of games and before that he was away at Barnsley.
  21. Again, the fitness levels of the players is sod all to do with the physio. Getting a different person in to treat injuries isn't magically going to stop them happening in the first place.
  22. Landed on his feet there. Doesn't even need to bother with lowering expectations because they haven't got any. Any old shit he serves up will do.
