Not hard to why these numbers combined with CL football year in year out help support the club financially. The extra 7M should allow for higher salaries for Ba and Tiote if required (and others). Still, very impressive jump for us, just shows what riches success can bring. Will this tempt Ashley into further investment or stick to his guns on a policy? - which to be fair, has worked very well so far.

Ba is an easy target for the media with his escape clause. Combine that with a dip in form since Cisse arrived and they have a story. Ok, he might not like that role particularly and too an extent the jury is out on the best formation still. I hope he does not go and for me, I don’t think he will. Looking at the top 4, City would not go for him, nor would manure, if RVP leaves, maybe Arsenal will and if Tottenham conclude the rumoured approaches, they will not either. Personally, I would get him signed on a better deal with no clause and put an end to it. I say that with some caution as I would not necessarily want this at the expense of a new striker that I think we need to cover the two of them for ACN.

Will we qualify for the Champions League? Sadly not...

I think you should Poot your money where your mouth is, the odds would be quite interesting! -
A realistic expectation for next season is to stay in the top six. We have a small squad as it is and with the likely departure (or speculated departures) of Smith, Best, Guthrie, Simpson, Lovenkrands, we will need to recruit quite a few players over the summer, one to improve the squad and two, to ensure we have enough players to meet the rigours of European football in addition the current seasons format. Given the excellent recruitment under Carr, this is not a huge concern for me but I would have thought we need at least 6-8 players that can step into the team (assuming the others go) pretty quickly. Squad - as we all know, there is a very close knit community in the squad and my concern is with a number leaving and a number coming in, would be loose the foundation on which this great season has been based? European Championships, Olympics and ACN - we stand to loose a number of players to these respective competitions which I feel might disrupt our season preparations and the integration of new players. On a positive note, I think the management team and support team we have are clearly very capable - lets hope the board provide the funds we need to compete and get through the summer with the core of our team still here and intact

Newcastle United vs Manchester City - 06/05/12 @ 1:30pm (live on Sky)

This is surely the biggest game we have played in a long time. It is a real opportunity on a number of levels. I am pretty sure every single person in the ground will be up for this, hopefully the best atmosphere since Shearers testimonial and the result to go with it. -

Not a bad shout that. Simpson cannot keep getting picked when playing so badly. EDIT - Shola? Did not see that. -

Totally agree. I think after his injury it has just taken time for his confidence and sharpness to return, hence the mistakes he was making earlier in the season. That is all in the past now. I think he and Cabeye in the middle are combining very well now and this is reflected in recent results. Combine them with the front two and I think they are more that in form to push us over the line into CL football.

AP and Carr are clearly doing the homework about players, with a big focus on personality and attitude. It was clear in Hughton's time (and before clearly) we had too many influencial and vocal players. I think Hughton was getting manipulated accordingly and this was ultimately a reason he lost his job. The current squad however seems to be alot more united and without the players causing issues which distract from the focus on playing. Long may it continue.

I am hoping he can end up like HBA in terms of taking the correct approach in getting fit and over the injuries and then coming back a great player. There is no need to put pressure on him at all and hopefully this approah will get him back to peek levels of performance.

Behind the scene's the motivation and preparation for these games will all be around getting 4th, make no mistake about it. The players have a fanstatic chance to do it and the last 5 results have proved that. They just need to keep focussed. What they tell the media will of course be watered down with little expectation. After all it has been a great season in any event. I personally think we can do it. -
This guy is insanely good. .

The last thing we want is Dalglish getting sacked, Liverpool are still a huge club who would be able to bring in a top class manager to replace him. The only reason i think Kenny is still in the job is because of his history with the club, any other manager would have been sacked by now, or at least on the brink... I agree. Past performance (history) should not be used to predict future success. I guess they will keep him in the job over the summer (assuming they get to the FA cup final), then see how they start next season. I think he will spunk a load of cash in the summer then be gone by Christmas.

5-0 would be lovely - resulting in dogleash getting the bullet. He royally fucked our team and club over, there should be more abuse directed at him than anyone else IMO after what he did to us. Then again, maybe he gets a small bit of recognition for the CarrLOL signing. EDIT: Dont loose your job, your doing a great job in the league!!!

My comment was about as sarcastic as I could be. Would hate to see him end up there. If we finish above them and they are not in the CL next season, I see no reason why he would want to go.
-
We should absolutely go for it in this game, an 11 point gap would be great with 7 games to go - not to mention the possibility of finishing above 6th. Form wise we have nothing to fear, we just need to start like we did at WBA and keep it going for the whole match. Last 10 Toon: 17 points Liverpool: 8 points Bar the Cup, I think the season cannot finish quick enough for most of them. Sold out, massive atmosphere - great day. Hopefully!!!
