  1. Excellent piece. He's a true living legend.
  2. Not too disappointed today - we gave it a good go first half, but let down by poor finishing. 2nd half, they shifted up a few gears and that was it. Smith and Duff were beyond poor, though I had to look twice when Duff actually tried to go outside the fullback. Thought Taylor did well, as did Butt. We are desperate for a quality playmaker in the summer and we also need a good replacement for Viduka or someone to take on his mantle. Alan Smith is not the answer at all.
  3. Not that I hate it, but 'Geordie Boot Boys' is pretty much disliked by most sets of other fans. 'Shoes Off' is a bit naff as is 'Sit Down, Shut Up' But 'Liverpool Slums' is an all time classic.
  4. I've heard stories in the past of Beardsley's wife being hard work (and that's being kind)
  5. Wished I could have been at the talk-in - great write-ups from those who were there. Beardsley is a top lad - met him early on last year.
  6. Definitely Andy Cole. Before that - Dave Beasant and Andy Thorn at £850K each.
  7. Disappointing to miss out on him, but just got to get on with it. Keegan will have other targets in mind - not the first time he's missed out on a 'big' player. I can remember the George Weah fiasco and also the Robertto Baggio links! Oh and the anti-semantic abuse - uncalled for and pathetic in the extreme.
  8. Some reports suggesting it was our lot fighting amongst each other. Charvas who were mortal probably.
  9. I'm intrigued about that vid! Can anyone shed some light on it's content?
  10. Did the stewards let you's stand all the way through? When I had my s/t up there (next to the away fans) - the only time we stood unmolested was the 3-2 game when Emre scored the winner. Much better when you can stand.
  11. Terrible, absolutely terrible. Hope that's not true. Not good at all, if it is.
  12. He was always going to get a harsh reception. Would be no different if we had an ex mackem in our side and played at their place. Just one of those things and I'm sure Chopra wouldn't be that bothered by it.
  13. On Stamfordham Road by any chance? Most of the cars that had had to stop, partook in giving them a bit of two-fingered banter.
  14. Had a txt off a mate of mine who was at the game, saying that the mackems had kicked off before the KO - something about breaking down a gate? I'm sure plenty of our own knuckle-heads were waiting to greet them - wouldn't fancy being one of the boys in blue on derby day!
  15. Not a great performance by us - but it didn't have to be. Great first goal from Owen (quality ball in) although Owen was also a bit fortunate with the pen. Gordon would have saved it on another day. All in all - Beye, Butt and Owen were great today. Some of Barton's and Geremi's passing was a bit off, but meh - we won! Sunderland were gash despite them pushing on a bit in the 2nd half. Best bit of the day was being sat in the car on Stamfordham Road (on the way to my old man's to watch on TV) - seeing the coaches go by and given the mackems the finger as the drove past. All of the cars that had had to stop joined in. Top stuff.
  16. Memories for me - the New Years Day 3-1 in '85. A high which was almost matched by the 4-1 at their place in 2006 - the day before my 33rd birthday. The low obviously - the playoff defeat in 1990 which was a horrendous night. I was in The Corner (towards the back) and as soon as all of the numb-nuts at the front ran on to the pitch, me and my pals left. Was a long journey back home on the bus that night. You could hear a pin drop, despite every seat being taken.
  17. Here's a little reminder..... http://www.safc.com/uploads/audio/apr_06/safc_1145349194_1704_SAFC_v_NUFC_HIGHLIGHTS_-_.mp3
  18. Always thought he was a decent player Fat Helder. Scored passed the mackems n all. As classy and good a CB we've had in a long time. He had injury problems when he was at Depor and I think he wasn't keen on shifting his family to England, permanently.
  19. I sincerely hope you are taking the piss with that comment.
