Ouch indeed. Hope the lad makes a quick and full recovery.

I don't have much sympathy for Barry. Has he not stuck in a transfer request?
-
He's always been a bit of a gobshite, but much of what he says in that article is spot on, for me.
-
Shame if he has signed for Benfica - he'd have been a good signing for me. Makes you wonder if we were in for him, or whether his agent used us as a stalking horse to get Benfica to tie up the deal.

Zaragoza were tipped to push for a CL place in La Liga, last season. Their under-performance (and relegation) came as a massive surprise, IIRC.

Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out...

Let Charlie go. As said previously - no sense in having players here who'd rather be elsewhere. I can't see Arsenal or Spurs coming in for him though. To be honest, I can see his career going the way of Bernard after the West Ham stuff. His career will fizzle out if he's not careful. -
My old man speaks very highly of him. One of those players that I wish I'd been able to see for myself.

None of our home games on SKY it would appear. I wonder if Setanta has snapped some up.

The only message this sends out to directors is you can cause as much damage as you like and the club will take the punishment. Thats the sad truth, unfortunately.

FIFA looking at Ronaldo case. Blatter: "Modern slavery".
Big Geordie replied to Parky's topic in Football
You are right - they can't over this one. And that's despite them using many of the tactics in the past, which Real have done recently. -
Just visited a couple of shops in town. The Eldon Square club shop is knocking out the old 'home' top, with the gold Northern Rock logo for either £5 or £7.50. They also have the blue/maroon away top with the gold letters. Last season's away top is still about £22.50, with the 3rd top being £17.50. Checked out First Sport too and there as bugger all in there.

Football would be nothing without the fans, and yet we are so often forgotten about. If Ronaldo is so unhappy or wants to move, all he has to do is put in a transfer request. Of course then, he'll forfeit any bonuses which he is due, which his agent won't want. It's all down to sheer greed. Money will kill top-flight football eventually, if it's not happening already. -

Contracts mean very little and now with Blatter coming out and saying this - the damage potential is worrying. He's an arsehole. -
Used to live in the same street as me when I was a kid. Not that I knew him well, but he's a good lad by all accounts.

Are we talking JD Sports or JJB here? JJB still had the old away top at £22.50 when I was in there, earlier today.

I'm pleased someone has come out and put these rumours to bed. Sad thing is, that it won't stop - indeed some sections of the press will do their best to twist the MD's words for their own ends.

Heard today on good authority that season ticket sales are down 18% on this time, last year. That's a big drop for the club if true. I didn't renew at the end of 06/07. Was getting too expensive, and our lass was pregnant at the time (though she subsequently had a miscarriage). Part of me would like to renew, but she's expecting again with the nipper due at the end of Oct. Also, I feel I've become somewhat removed from PL football - it's no longer the game I fell in love with as a kid. Makes me sad to say that.

From what I've heard of Lita - he's got the Big Time Charlie attitude that we need to eradicate from this club.

Big Geordie replied to Rocker's topic in Football
I'd guess that our former chairman still has plenty of media contacts, so he could be in a position to rock the boat. He was always good for a quote, so he may still have allies to stir IMO. -
Makes you wonder if this recent muck-raking is a result of the club's refusal (so far) to give into fan and media pressure to sack Barton. The media can't get their way with one thing, so now attempt to de-stabilise (sp?) the club another way. For a club which isn't deemed to be 'big' we don't have get more then our fair share of media coverage. Indeed, I suggest only perhaps the Mancs get more column inches devoted to them, on average. I guess Newcastle United sell papers. Pity most of what is written in them concerning us is complete bollocks.

Lots of shite flying around today - Ashley is apparently trying to sell the club (according to The Sun) and also Martins wants to join Arsenal - again if you believe said paper! -
This paper tittle tattle is getting beyond the joke now. And to think some folk deny that there are professional agitators out there who seem intent on rocking the boat.

Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal
Big Geordie replied to magorific's topic in Football
It is a relief to see the first body in, and again the fact that it's come out of the blue is testament to the way the club is doing it's transfer business. Nice one - just hope he proves to be a success.
