The club needs bodies in before we know what's happening with Barton. If he stays, then the club risk alienating a section of the fans. Afterall, what kind of message does it send out - particularly to the younger fans? You can act like a thug off the pitch - knock seven bells out of lads who don't fight back, do time inside and your still welcome to your £60K a week and first team place. Unacceptable.
-
Can't the club sack him, but retain his registration as with what Chelsea did for Mutu? I can't believe some of you lot want him to stay at the club. Ming-boggling if I'm honest. Sometimes you have to take a stand against indecent behavior and for me that time has come. I only hope Mike Ashley feels the same. Many young footballers today seem to be laws unto themselves. No wonder they must feel they are untouchable.

Well, that wasn't good to say the least. If he stays at the club - welcome to the new Newcastle United, fellas. Home to knobhead footballers.

Close the door on your way out, Barton. I sincerely hope the club does everything in it's power to rid itself of this awful person. I've had enough of players who consistently drag the club's name through the mud. Could do the club greater damage in the long term, if we keep him.

Poor journalism. Didn't this hack used to write for The Journal?
-
Just been pointed out to me on another forum - this is what Baptista said during his time with Arsenal; "The teams from the north of England are terrible," he said. "When we play them I have counted their centre-backs booting up to 30 long balls upfield per game. "The weather over here is killing me. We'll get one day of sunshine for every 30 days of rain, and it is driving me to despair. "My girlfriend and my mother are frightened about not seeing the sun in England. They miss being in Madrid." ------------------- I guess that's put paid to that then. Any of you's keen to have him now, when he's said that in the past?
-
According to today's Journal, he's been offered to us, along with some other English and Italian clubs. Seems as if he's deemed surplus to requirements at Real. So, would any of you's have him here? His record is quite impressive in Spain, and whilst he had a bit of an up and down time at Arsenal, he may be worth a look. He's 26 (so not too old), but the wages might be a problem if the club are looking to cut down costs. No actual quotes, as ever though. Merely more speculation.

Nice one Bobby.

He was great tonight and ran the show. Reminds me of Peter Beardsley - superb feet, balance and awareness. Would love to see him in a black and white shirt, but he'll surely have better suitors after that.
-
Was that the final? I'd guess that the likes of Beardsley, Fox, Bez, etc all have had other commitments. :-/

Just been thinking on the back of Arsenal being rumoured to be making a bid. Shay's been at the club now since 1997, so surely he must be due a testimonial?

Season ticket news - renewal deadline now Sunday June 22

Sounds good. What's the craic for concessionary s/t's? A couple of the lads I care for might be interested in getting s/t's if there's a chance of some being available. I dare say wiil have to wait until after deadline day though. -
Should now be sacked, IMO - as well as he did for us towards the end of the season. I've had enough of players acting like arseholes and the club not dealing with it properly.

Seems to lurch from one disaster to another for Citeh, recently. Seems there's another chairman here who wants the biggest crackerjack crown, currently held by the one at Hearts.
-
Whatever it is - nothing surprises me anymore when NUFC is concerned.
-
I Hope this doesn't mean that KK is leaving. This club seems to lurch from one extreme to another.

Perhaps he's giving them the riot act in the dressing room. -

Not surprised by the result. Hopefully it'll be the last time we'll see the likes of Smith and Duff in Newcastle colours. -

W Was never gonna be anything different, sadly. If the likes of Smith, Charlie and Duff are on their way out - they why play them? Far better to chuck in some youngsters who will at least give it a go. So glad I'm not bothering to listen - I'm watching Pompey v Fulham instead. -
Smith and Duff? *bah*

Excellent piece. He's a true living legend.

Not too disappointed today - we gave it a good go first half, but let down by poor finishing. 2nd half, they shifted up a few gears and that was it. Smith and Duff were beyond poor, though I had to look twice when Duff actually tried to go outside the fullback. Thought Taylor did well, as did Butt. We are desperate for a quality playmaker in the summer and we also need a good replacement for Viduka or someone to take on his mantle. Alan Smith is not the answer at all. -
Not that I hate it, but 'Geordie Boot Boys' is pretty much disliked by most sets of other fans. 'Shoes Off' is a bit naff as is 'Sit Down, Shut Up' But 'Liverpool Slums' is an all time classic.
