I would take Ryan Babel and an alarm clock in a straight swap.
-
I'd take him for a few million. Not suited to arsenal's type of play IMO they play with pace and carpet football and this lad is an old fashioned type centre half, maybe someone like Brown at United; not the most gracious but decent in defence all the same. If he played for a liverpool type team I think he would be great. Unfortunately he plays for Arsenal who's attacking play often leads them wanting at the back. I have seen Gallas (a world class defender) get caught short in their team but Senderos with attacking full backs (i.e Beye and Zoggy/Enrigue) with Colccini in front of them and I think you would have a good defensive unit.

Butt also made some great tackles. Wasn't that bad two bad passes if i recall. Guthrie was good, Jonas was immence and Colo won just about every header he went for and tackle - he seemed to sometimes attack the ball as it came to the attacker and other times stood off always assured apart from the openning 5-10 mins. Happy overall, Jonas is good and Zoggy ain't a left back tho!

Watched him float two beauties in for both Blackburn goals yesterday. Yes sign him up!
-
Me too. How about Alonso? He's obviously not wanted by Rafa but is quality and proven in the EPL nonetheless.
-
Ah... the intimidating bit threw me but I get the meaning now. I bloody hope it does go through because Smith has to be the most overated player in the EPL.

the person posting that has an intimidating 6 posts tbh eh?

On the Everton Forum it is claimed that he will complete the move over the weekend and then a conference is planned for Tuesday AM... http://www.toffeetalk.com/index.php?showtopic=12581&st=120&start=120 I am so pleased!

Joseph Mellick? At least he liked to see a play!

They are reminising on the Smith-of-old at the moment. I think we got the cheap chinese copy.

Bassong has just made a quality interception

Derek Boeteng would be an inprovment for us!

Guthrie ahead of Alan Smith for Duff's cross in their box. OMG I think it sums Smith up!
-
Absolute pants again. No end product in the final third. Alan Smith can't hold an ice cream up properly. Milner can only hit he first man and Duff looks like he is doing Micheal Flatley on the ball (but Duff proably earns more per perfomance). Beaten off Doncaster ffs its gonna be a long season.

Setanta news were reporting they have suspended betting on Moyes been first manager out this season as A LOT of money had been put on him. He went from 33-1 to favourite (5-1 IIRC) in a matter of hours. I don't think he has signed his new contract either yet.

still created our best opening though Who? milner at the end, unfortunately he only had smith in the box though Unfortunately it's typical Milner though. Looks great until it's time to deliver the final pass or strike on goal. He must have hit 20 crosses today, and I don't think he found a Newcastle player with one. The final one which he ballooned high and slow sums him up really. Milner:11 crosses 0 found one of our players. Who's to find tbf? The pair of clowns in the middle don't even look to attack the ball. You could have Beckham swinging them in and they'd still be marked out of the game by anyone who owns a pair of boots. I am convinced Alan Smith won't head a ball because it will "mess his hair up". Dwain Chambers could do his job better and be much quicker but also on about a 10th of his alleged wages. He's embarassing.

An onslaught? Yeah we ran riot in the first half loads of attacking play put no end product in the final third. Guiterrez, Milner and Zoggie were all getting forward. Not sure we quite ran riot. If you want to see what running riot is, watch what happens to us in Manchester in a couple of weeks. Yeah but it was easy to see we were the BETTER team by a long shot in the first half just NO END PRODUCT due to the con man called Smith and the injury-fainer-cos-I-don't-wanna-move Ameobi. Like I said even Sib (a cheap signing) is better than those two put together. Our transfer team need to pull their finger out fast or we will have the same kind of season as last. We just smack at lacking ambition at the moment which is depressing.

Thought we did alright. It was an onslaught in the first half from us with no end product. Smith is not a footballer and should be sured for being a con man. Amobi is injured cos he doesnt want to move away from "As you like it". You can bet you bottom dollar Viduka will be injured next season (probably around Xmas time when the weather is much nicer in Oz) and if you look at Owen I don't think he has ever put a full season in since he was a pro due to some injury. So going off that and the fact that that Oba is injured (and just lost his mum) I am looking at the likes of Crouch going to Portsmouth and thinking we should have been in for him. I would be looking to bring Sib back at this rate. Bottom line is our squad is not balanced and not big enough and Ashley should be getting his cheque book out now. If we only sign another two players this transfer window I will be very dissapointed but the way keagan is talking the transfers are fast going from 4-5 in January (BEFORE we released a load of other players) to 2 now. We have just over two weeks to get the players we need which is worrying.

quick light the match, number 18 is about to get the ball and I want to singe his boot laces!

I would have Bullard in a flash over this young kid. We don't need to be paying millions for players with promise, we need to do an Arsenal, identify them early on and put them in feeder clubs or sign them up on pro contracts for nominal fees i.e less than than £1m (arbitration set like we got Zoggy) otherwise don't gamble. I would have Bullard because he has proved for a few consistent years he is class he's only 30 and our best player of last season (i.e. Baye) is older so Ireakon we could get a few good years out of him.
