People need to understand the nature of a tackle. It's about taking the ball away with head, feet, inceptions, being in the place at the right time, whatever. It is stopping the ball being played by their own team mate reaching them full stop. There is a level of dealing with it but it is still tacking depending on heading ability, feet tackling skills, reading the game faster than the player it is being passed to, reading the game, being lucky etc. Yedlin ain't bad according to stats.

Exactly. Greg might have meant last ditch?
-
Eh? If you Google the definition of tackling it has the very opposite meaning of what you just said.
-
Yup and the fact when we were a goal down instead of passing the ball back to their keeper when they had put it out of play he kicks it out for a goal kick down by the corner flag so they can waste even more time.

No idea if this is accurate but it's an interesting report on FFP. If you have players like Colback, Saviet and Mitro picking up wages and contributing nowt to the team there could be some truth in it... https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/01/wage-constraints-may-hampering-newcastle-united-transfer-market/

Indeed according to this. The man's tightness is costing the club dearly... https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/01/wage-constraints-may-hampering-newcastle-united-transfer-market/

Don't get too excited as he would need at least 3 Newcastle United's in order to buy back Sports Direct going off today's share price. Even if sells us he would need to have the cash off another two sales to fund it.

Really! What did they say last season when we played 53 games in total (often 2 per week)? We had a bigger and better (comparative to the league) squad so we were able to rotate quite a lot. We don't have the squad to do that in this division. What has changed though? The players who have gone were played like never and we got others. My point is none of this squad should be tired as they played more games last year.

Reports linking him with the Hammers this morning.

Rafa will know we are relegation material so first thing he will want is not to concede and perhaps nick a goal at the end as we were doing earlier in the season to win games. A draw is still a point so we need to pick up these a long with some wins and our goal difference could be key come end of the season. If we just lose and lose we will go down so best to go out and get draws and perhaps wins to see us through. We had Liverpool on the ropes towards the end and Man City too so today the players let Rafa down. The front two and wingers were shockingly bad. Shelvey when he came on had to basically tell our strikers to move in to space when he could have played them in.
-
He isn't a Leicester type player. He scores loads of goals via headers and is more Mitro plus lots of pace. With our wingers and set plays he would be better suited to our way of playing IMO. Having a player who is a massive threat up front rather than just a little one will give relief to our midfield and defence. It's our weakest and most unmatched area to the rest of the team. The offence of Man City for example who has offensive threat subbed a defender and basically allowed Joselu to win every header only to pick up the scraps of those headers to get possession back and then pass it to the extra offensive threat which is why Rafa had his tactics and then as the game opened up and they got frustrated took it to them.
-
Slimani scores so many goals via the old winger/hit and hope way by his head and as we have an abundance of these deliverences' I would welcome this rather than another type of striker tbh.
-
Yes he has been given no assurances. Read it again. He SHOULD know by now
-
Nope that is the MD who should run the club in its capacity regardless of MA influence. You are there to do a duty to the football / business side.
-
He got a shout from Darlow who knew where the goal was. The ball went out for a goal kick.
-
Yup so it was intentional. The FA owes him a massive kick in the balls/wallet on behalf of Yedlin.
-
Nah, he's a very good CB. Nah. Rafa doesn't rate him much there and neither do I. Rafa rates him he needs to learn the lingo and you can see now he is trying because he uses hand gestured to team mates as well as as talking to communicate so he is working in the 20 and 80% zone.
-
He was a yard to far over to the left goal post and should have done better for the goal but in fairness he makes great saves and is certainly worth a lot more than the 250 grand we bought him for.
-
but he didn't blast it and Jamaal made the right tackle, so get the f out of here trying to find a way to criticize him after such a great performance. Weirdly miserable. Or just being realistic. Swansea didn't test us defensively. Merino was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch. If you want to be realistic only Man U and Man City who are 1st and 2nd have conceded less goals (2) in the league. We have conceded 3 so you can look at these facts and they say he has been part of a very good defence so far.

Hadn't heard that. Wheres this from? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/09/01/rafa-benitezs-long-term-future-serious-doubt-newcastle-fail/
