Moncur thinks Keegan should pipe the fuck down. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/

Now that's the kind of lunacy I'd happily back.

True that. I would very much doubt he'll get a trunk full of twentys and told, 'go on luv, knock youself out'. Keegan talking sense shocker.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Keegan would have sold him for £35m, but doesn't think Pards will see any of the money. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00fc3sy -
Newcastle United vs Bolton Wanderers, Saturday (26/2/11) Pre-match thread.

See, I wish I had your confidence. I think we'll lose, draw, or perhaps win. At best. -

If a bid is accepted, the player goes. Players turning down moves generally doesn't happen, despite people on here thinking it does all the time. Les Ferdinand got a phone call halfway to London saying that Shearer had done his knee and that we wanted him to turn round and come back, he said that despite the fact he never wanted to leave, it had been made clear to him that the money was more important than he was, so he refused. That's what I was saying, selling players for fees we think are too good to turn down has always generally happened. Apart from one example (Dyer) but then I can't remember if bids were ever confirmed or just paper talk. It was never confirmed as more than paper talk from our club or any prospective buyers as far as I'm aware, and all interest died away after his injury at the back end of that season. It is quite telling imho that the only example Shepherd dragged up when saying he wouldn't have sold big players like Carroll was that he turned down an offer from Shearer (this was from Liverpool for reportedly around £2m) - said nowt about Dyer which would have been a much better comparison.

I post less than I used to for a variety of reasons, and I'm actually well happy that Leazes is no longer around. Meanwhle, I find the rampant negativity boring, and can't be arsed to engage very often with those who delight in making the most pessimistic predictions they can come up with. As this thread was meant to point out, things aren't actually so bad. Glorious hypocrisy from somebody who signed up solely to whinge about Freddy Shepherd. Tiote's not common either though.

Not yet comfortable? Come on Shola son. That mask looks no thicker than some lasses slap. Would be great if he could make the bench.
-
Was that him? Jesus it was stupidly loud, I thought it was some puffed put 30st reporter Me too. That would drive me nuts, the lads should chip in and get him his nasal cavity excavating.
-
Good to hear, but you'd think a little presumptuous. Well, considering the players we have and the ones coming back from injury as well, I wonder what sort of contract we'd give him if he did stay? Doubt it would be close to the one he has at the moment.

Sounds like some knock off perfume you could pick up down the green market.

We all do. I just have absolutely no idea what next season will bring, we could progress, but just as likely a few bollocks dropped in the transfer market and we could tumble down the leagues again. It would be bloody miracle the way things have been going for a fair few years now, to just get the whole way through without a change of manager. I think just that bit of stability would be a plus for me. when was the last time we started and finnished a season in the prem with the same manager? Robson possibly? Was pretty stunned when someone brought it up a few weeks back.

Top stuff. The send off should be massive, but it's also great news that the spirit of L7, fingers crossed, isn't going to be completely lost. /until the next seats shuffle.

On a day where an obviously a piece of good news has been announced, your first two comments were "Why have they done it now? Should have waited until the summer." and "What are win going to do if Chelsea bid £18 million for him. Carroll situation all over again", you can surely understand why people are being frosty with you. But it's not like I'm saying he shouldn't have been offered a new contract, or got a wage rise ... just think we should have waited until the summer to offer it. If that's worthy of being called a negative bastard etc etc then well, I'll keep any thoughts that question the actions of the hierarchy of this club to myself. Why though? While others have given reasons for doing it now, you still haven't given us any decent explaination of why we should have waited until the summer. I have actually. I would have waited until the end of the season as it is closer to the transfer window opening. The point I'm trying so hard to make is that - As we saw with Carroll, players signing a long-term contract make little difference to clubs with a lot of cash that want their man. Carroll signed a 5 year contract at his hometown club, did that deter a club from making an offer only 3 months later (as well as others showing interest?) And nobody has suggested otherwise. It is an arguement that has been used countless times against those who bang on about us suddenly becoming 'a selling club' because a mad bid came in for Carroll. What people have argued is that an increased contract both ups his price (therefore protecting the player against leaving on the cheap), and that the increase in wages means there is less chance of having his head turned by wages offered by other clubs, but keeps him within the structure we have in place. So this is the core of your arguement. Trying to tie him down during the madness of the summer window, in what may look like desperation, sends out a stronger signal to other clubs than showing faith enough in him to get things sorted as soon as possible? Well, I couldn't disagree more.

No, we (or at least I) want to hear those thoughts, but simply want you to explain the reasoning behind them.

It has alreadly been spelled out for you why there is sod all wrong with the timing. If you can't show an arguement against people, at least show some semblance of an ability to absorb this stuff in. Simply put, players will always leave the club, but now it's a lot more difficult for a buying club to purchase a him or offer him significantly better wages, it's a sign of intent before the madness of the summer, it removes any doubts for Tiote and we have a happy player. How the fuck can you find fault in this news? How the fuckity fuck? It's fair enough having a healthy cynicism, and a craving for activism Colocho, but at least give us some credible logic to go with it.
