With every post in this thread my admiration for NE5 goes up a little. By god he could bring a forum down on its knees, crying for mecry, but he was right, and was the only one.

Thick (no i did the same looking for a formation button) You just swap say a defender for a striker and bingo 3-4-3

According to an article rating Wolfsburg's signings. lol, sure way to not get picked, have a fight with you clubs best player by a mile. I think he could have a decent WC for Algeria mind, could be the escape he needs, and will no doubt be up for sale the summer anyway. Not sure about calling him injury blighted, he had 3 full seasons before his move to Germany.

Any German league followers tell me why Ziani has only played 9 games for Wolfsburg, i thought he was meant to be good?

Stay at home then would be the only option. I dunno, i generally find England nights for the WC EC alright and not much bother. I don't stay out if were beat so no idea what it gets like afterwards. Nah I meant more along the lines of pissed 14 year old charvers, i'm not sure how it works down there. Possibly cordoned off and ticketed. Im sure they've done events like that before. If you want to avoid kids then a pubs surely the best bet.

3 years one trophy is not bad.

More like a getaway driver; without the bank robber pretty pointless.

Those words are really going to bite you in the arse, TT. I know you are speaking from a vast amount of experience there but at 26 and with the only man who had faith in him gone, his chance in English football is going to be limited especially with his injury record. He's not a bad footballer, just someone you wouldn't pay serious amounts of money for as he's likely to miss 70% of the season through injury. Typical Newcastle player of old in that respects. Except very good. It's not really his quality that's the problem though. He's probably worth the money fit and healthy playing 70% of his games, thing is he's not and hasn't been for the last 2-3 years apparently. Same could have been said of someone like Matt Upson (who is shit btw) a few years back, sometimes tendons, ligaments and muscles just need to catch up with the rest of the body. Aquiliani could easily be the next Dyer or he could turn the corner and utilise that fantastic talent. And as it happens, when he did return from injury around the turn of the year, he stayed injury free, Rafa just wasn't picking him (in part probably because of his penchant for 2 DMs). Is he worth the risk though? Certainly not at £18m, even at £10m for a club like Liverpool and its financial state its a risk. What kind of price is he starting to be worth the risk?

I'd love you to get him too. Playing week in, week out as a striker would do him the world of good. It's what he's missing from his game, consistently being started. It would be a great move for everyone. If he had had something like that the season just gone, i reckon he'd be at the WC.

I'd love us to get Walcott on loan for the season, upfront with Carroll would work a treat imo.
-
As good as Williamson? That's some claim. Maybe were looking at him as cover for RB, but as a CB he's slight frame would be raped in the Premiership.

We that was canny, best thing on terrestrial TV for some time unfortunately.

Just come on 50 years old, still better than Butt. We'd have been saying the same if they'd brought on Louis Walsh tbh.

You never know. Rafa was never one to give a player much time to find his feet or improve his game. One of his biggest failings, IMO. What about Lucas? Only ever seen when Xabi was rested or gone. True, and why his squad turned their back on him when they realised they had a chance of getting him out of the club. Chances are though injuries will come and get the lad again, if he was picking them up so frequently in Italy, the rough and ready style of the prem is going to be even more strain on his frail body. I think the main reason the players turned on him to the extent they did is that Rafa had no relationship to any of the players as people. He treated them like a plumber treats his tools. You can suck that up when you're winning, but success was pretty much the only thing underpinning whatever loyalty the players felt to Rafa. I remember comments coming from Gerrard in the first year Rafa arrived that he missed the friendship he had with Houillier, and Rafa was more a boss than a friend, it was along those lines no doubt not them words. His man management skills certainly could have done with tweaking, but again his stubbornness wouldn't let him see any fault to the way he deals with players on or off the pitch.
