    World Class?

No C. Ronaldo? I've exchanged opinions on this before - not all agree. I see him as a very good player rather than a great one. He loses the ball a bit too often to be called great IMO. Fergie's willingness to let him go this time says something. I think he felt he'd already got the best out of him.

    World Class?

Don't think any English player is World Class. Rooney, Gerrard & Rio are close.
  4. Woodgate to undergo more surgery meaning Spurs will deffo up their bid now for Bassong.

  7. Loads of times i caught myself welling up reading a paper or watching the news; felt so detached not being in Newcastle area for this. All i heard all weekend was good words about him, but not a single soul to really share my grief with.

    RIP sale thread.

It's shit going backwards on a thread but sometimes worth it.

    RIP sale thread.

So a poster called thomo reckons DIC are poised to takeover by Tuesday and that manjoob was a smokescreen to get the deal done? Well something is happening. To accept £9m for Martins and reject £10m for Bassong means someone is in charge and we all know its not Ahley. Both decisions are good decisions, Martins wage being too high and interest in Bassong being big £10m is a starting fee only. Something is going on, lets hope this is the one.

    RIP sale thread.

Just got back from a weekend away, anything interesting happened since Friday?
  11. tbf only the thread originator said anything remotely bad, for the most part the SMB has been full of praise for Sir Bobby, and rightly so. tbh I don't think the topic starter intended that, more saying "if you're going to say it, do it here rather than in the respectful threads" No, respect to the mackems today. Indeed http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=428086 Only a man like Bobby could make the mackems act like decent human beings...just kidding, not such a bad lot down the road in moments like this; it's a great gesture.
  12. FFS saying bobby was a clever guy and knew how to play him and played him all the time.
  13. Yes. He's not just a man though, he's and icon and a legend, flowers are acceptable. Going away tonight to York, going to go up early and leave him some myself.
  14. I couldn't watch it, i left the room.
  15. Aye just seen them there on SSN's when having a mins silence for SBR
  16. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1739081,00.html Shearer Leads Sir Bobby Tributes By Dan Sheridan FORMER Newcastle United skipper Alan Shearer has paid an emotional tribute to Sir Bobby Robson following the sad news of his death this morning. United's all-time leading scorer played under Sir Bobby for five years at St. James' Park and insists it was former England manager Robson who saved his Newcastle career. Fittingly, it was Shearer who scored the winner in Sir Bobby's tribute game on Sunday and upon hearing the news, Shearer said: "He was a great man. "Sunday was a fitting tribute to him and he will be sadly missed by everyone, not just by people in the football world but from all walks of life. "It's a very sad day for everyone, especially his family, his close friends and anyone who's ever worked with him. "Bobby was a people's man. He could get on with anybody no matter what age they were and that says a lot about the kind of man he was and why he was so highly thought of. "He was held in high regard across the world not only for what he did in football but for what he did in life. "He was a winner, a battler and a fighter and he fought until the very last. "I've got a lot to thank him for. He saved my Newcastle career - there's no doubt about that - and I'm just pleased I had the chance to tell him that and thank him for it."
  17. It probably took it out of him going on Sunday, but he wouldn't have missed it for the world and wouldn't have had it any other way.
  18. The news we've all been dreading, fuking gutted here, the granddad i never had. What a legend.
  19. I'd make Taylor captain tbh.The kid makes all of the right noises. a captain has to be either the most level-headed player in a the team or the most influential player in the team, Taylor is by no means either He's not ready by a long stretch. Can see him being thrusted in to it now Beye has gone, unless we buy a captain (but that probably not the best thing to do) Aye I can see that happening like. I was initially against it but now there really doesn't seem to be that many options for it at all so it might not be such a bad thing for him. I'd just like him to have a season in a settled back four and a winning team, let him grow a bit and develop. Captaining him too soon could be the next anchor to keep him down and another year wasted.

  21. A good defender who has been made out by the toon fans to be a world class player due to the lack of anything half decent at RB for a decade. Would have been a good captain, i would have said perfect until the pre season, but has a touch of the Gallas about him in that department. His age is a factor for me, its the last time were going to get good money for him, can see us getting £2m in a heartbeat, we might even hit the £3m mark considering how many teams are declaring an interest. He'll not be going to Sunderland because of that, and i don't think he'd do that to us, so end of they day we get another £45k off our wage bill and some money off the overdraft at the worst, and R Taylor should be good enough quality for us in the CCC while there are still a couple of free RB's floating about for cover or competition. Can't say im that bothered about this, i wish him all the best at his mid table club.
