  1. No he's not, but we've left it too late to be picky. Davies in years to come will be a star, alongside Taylor in 5 years time we've got the best English defensive pairing.
  2. Obviously he's rejected the offer since the club accepted. Everton in but for only £4.5m plus extras, maybe we are coming in to make a late bid?
  3. The architect on SSN's says it might not comply with British law. It can only be on a 34 degree angle, where in the states they can have up to 38, another thing that might have to be changed.
  4. No the 60,000 and 78,000 capacity stadiums are one and the same. They plan to start off with a 60,000 stadium which is what they revealed today and the fill in the currently empty corners to bring it up to 78,000. The reason that they're doing it that way is because they already had planning permission for the original stadium designs (which looked nothing like the current ones) which also had a capacity of 60,000. Personally i think that Rick Parry is being very naive if he thinks that the current plans will quickly be approved just because the initial capacity is the same. It could be a massive own goal because if the plans are rejected, they may have to re-surrect the original plans! Whooops! Agh, i've just seen the still pics close up, your right its the same design, just from a different angle. But on the plans on SSNs the 78k is much much bigger physically on the outside, it doesn't just look like the corners are filled in, but again they could of just zoomed although they talked about it and said 'its a bigger and totally different stadium to the 60k'
  5. I completely agree. What a mess! Apparently it was re-designed by American architects and like most U.S. sports stadiums, it's just functional and incredibly ugly. Personally i'd be suprised if it gets planning permission in it's current format, since it's in the middle of Stanley Park. I'd be interested to hear what the Liverpool supporters think of it, especially since the original designs were completely different to this. What exactly makes you think it will not get planning permission in it's current format? Buildings which that kind of impact very rarely do. No building goes from the design stage to actually built without undergoing changes enforced by authorities, complications, time or money. But with a building placed in such a controversial location its even harder. Nevermind what the local council have to say on the matter, you've also got the residents surrounding the grade 2 victorian park living in their listed victorian buildings who if enough object will delay it for years.
  6. They don't have the go ahead for either ATM, only planning permission to build a stadium up to 60k. They are submitting another request for the 78K, then i guess it goes to the council to accept the final designs, then they start building. This is what SSN's & Rick Parry and some architect have just been banging on about before.
  7. £300m is the base price for the stadium at 60k, and without any demolition costs, or infrastructure costs, then they've got the usual delays.
  8. Can't see how since they struggle to fill Anfeild during the week as the Norwegian fans only come across at the weekend. (what i've heard a few times from LFC fans)
  9. They'll get the go ahead for 60k then apply for the extenstion after they start building it. Its not an extension, its a totally different building from what i've seen on SSN's.
  10. That is the plan for the 60k seater stadium, theres another one for the 78k, neither have been accepted, only planning permission granted for the 60K, both buildings are yet to be ran past the council and other authorities.

SP, grade 2 Victorian listed park to have a big lump of junk slapped bang in the middle as some yanks think they can do whatever they like? Aye, i agree, it wont be looking like that after LC council have a pot shot at it.
  12. Not my point. Decent architects these days build features into buildings for a reason, they don't just throw up lumps of metal in stupid places to hide the fact they've done a shite job. It hasn't even passed the city council yet, and i doubt it will looking like that. For starters they'll make no money when the fans start hiring double deckers and parking it outside the windows for free.
  13. I'm all for different designs and something special but that thing is just horrendous. Its pig ugly, and has a lot of shit built on it just to look different, not to do anything or make it a better building. What a load of pretentious American trash. Rafa: "Er, i like it, its different, its got windows and stuff" Whooo, am sold!
  14. lets hope so, anyone else heard this? I listened to the news bulletin at 10am and i heard nothing of this... Probably just wishful thinking, although if the mackems had £6m accepted a couple of days ago Baines is taking a while to sign up, there's no doubt where he'd rather go unless he's got a disliking to us for some unknown reason. We should of had him weeks ago, but the board have dragged their heels and make themselves look very foolish so far.
  15. About fuking time. We cant attract top players plike Heinze, were fuking struggling to pull in average foreign talent like Beye, so we need to go for the likes of Baines, Davies & Shorey, even if it means paying a little extra. So what if we paid £8m for him? We paid £5m for Bramble how many years ago? The market is more inflated than ever and Davies is a massive class above Bramble, you could even say the same for Boumsong, and unlike them two fuks, Davies will hold that price tag, and it will eventually grow. Same goes for Baines, at £6m he's a great signing for the club.
  16. I've personally gone with Martins, even though my head tells me Owen.
  17. Right well since all the rumours have died down i think i'll take a chance on saying the 4 listed are probably going to be our strikers for next season, so which one do you think will become NUFC's top goalscorer for next season?
  18. Ha class, just checked virgin's site and it all checks out, if you have XL = free, if you have any other = £8 a month. I guess they are doing this because of the fall out with SKY. Nice suprise. Yep this is confirmed as of only this week mind. Good timing for Virgin customers.

    Sam Interview

I agree From what I am picking up on this board is that too many people expected an instant fix and the immediate signing of a whole new squad of 20 players and because its not happening, the doom and gloom is starting to decend again. We have to stop thinking like this and remember where we were at the end of the season. No way was this going to be fixed quickly. Which is fair enough when talking about the midfeild or attack, but when were talking about our defense, currently whats been going on is not good enough. A makeshift free rightback and a cheap defender who's never played in England before. This is simply not good enough since we've released Bramble, Moore, Gooch and never replaced Boumsong, have only one natural LB at the club who shows no interest in wanting to play football and again at RB a makeshift aging winger was our best performer there last season. Were not talking massive leaps and bounds here, we talking about sensible spending and bringing in bodies at the back which we've yet to see and the start of the season creeps closer and closer, players already missing out on the training camps away, pre season friendlies, its just the same s**** as last year, nothing has changed. 100% agree. We need defenders just to make up the numbers. We need quality defenders to make any progress. It won't matter how good our strikers are... if we don't shore up the defense we won't be moving up the table any time soon. Thing that pisses me off is this is the greatest opportunity to start again. Weve literally have no one we've spent big money on or who we owe a place too, we can do what we like, and bring in a totally new back four, but its slipping away each day that passes, and we'll end up rushing into deals just to get bodies in, again, nothing has really changed.

Pretty much sums up my feelings, I can't help but feel anxious while our defense is in the state it is. Maybe were all just so used to lampooning the board its in our blood, god knows. What is a cert though the current squad isn't capable of challenging in the top half come the start of the season.

We have to stop thinking like this and remember where we were at the end of the season. No way was this going to be fixed quickly. in the interview he mentions being patient about the long term stability etc....he also says day by day more players are slipping away, doesn't sound like he is being too patient to me. If SA wants to be honest, what would really help us is to explain why they are slipping away. If its because they are going to clubs that are simply offering them more money then it would help us fans. I think most people on this board agreed with SA when he said that we only want players who want to play for the club. If money is there perogative then we have to support SA/Board in not begging them to come. Eventually we will get the right players and will have taken the first steps towards becoming a stable club. Watch what happens to West Ham or Fulham or Wigan if they are relegated next season. Totally fucked. I would rather didnt just chuck money at anyone just for the sake of it. It bothers me that without knowing anything, all of a sudden its all Sams and Ashleys fault. Whether you like it or not SA has taken at least two swipes at the board in the last couple of weeks. Its not just the fans who are questioning and pointing fingers here.
  22. not sure I could do a "proper" one Not slurring you past work, just an all in wonder to end the era as such. I've started to do a similar, but smaller, analysis on other clubs. It's at www.football-finances.org.uk and will be taking up my time for a few weeks. It's probably best to wait a while anyway. If I did something now I may only be able to see the downside of Shepherd whereas if I wait a few years I may have though of something good he did. May. Thats fair enough like and a good reason to wait.

Very true, however, i can remember after the Geremi signing Allardyce saying how he didn't want transfers to be leaked through to the press. It's a possibility that since then Ashley and him have decided for price ranges alone that they keep everything a lot more low key, just a theory but it does look like we may be short of funds. I would agree that would be a good move, but that facts are SA has come out yet again hinting that the board are taking their time, or not putting up the cash. He's really playing with fire, a lot more argumentative than last and it must piss him off with the reason he left Bolton was the lack of backing.
