  1. Newcastle with a solid manager is a magnet, he's a good enough name to bring in the players we need.
  2. Ivan Campo was Real Madrid reject Okocha and Djorkaeff at the time were above 30 and they were past their best The signings of Anelka,Meite,Ben Haim,Faye are more impressive for me. But, they are big names with big reputations. Players abroad will know about Sam Allardyce, and the quality of his managerial skills, because this information spreads by word of mouth. True that they were big names with big reputaions but they were hardly top players especially Campo The thing i like about Allardyce is the fact that his scouting/searching system is at good level. He is bringing players from Africa and they are all good.He can spot the good player. They were all big name players for a club like Bolton. but allardyce isn't going to be at a club like bolton. No, he'll be at a club like Newcastle and should be able to attract better players. At the time Bolton were near enough nothing, and he was bringing in solid names, Anelka is another example of how far he's got, a player we looked at over and over again.

Fair point. I'm more worried by the fact they've conceded more goals this season than we have, and we're the ones with the supposedly shit defence. I also think he's a bit of a bluffer. He hasn't really done that much and as I've said in another thread, he's at a club with low expectations. It will be different at a club like Newcastle. Worrying, also worrying is his recent form since the turn of the year, maybe he felt he was going to leave for a while, maybe there is more to come from the Panorama docu, but it looks nailed on now, and there really isn't any other option. I'd like to see Houllier here, a continental version of SA and with success under his belt, but will old bug eyes leave cushy number like Lyon and would FS really see him as a potential target? I think if we pushed the boat out we could get him as a lot of reports suggest he'd like a return to England however FS has a nice cheap target in view and i don't think it will change unless SA rejects. God forbid Really really stupid thing for you to say tbh. Dont rate him at all tbh.Maybe as DoF he will do a good job considering his experience and connections in France but as manager i dont he will do a good job. After his heart attack he is not the same person.Liveprool fans were really relieved that they replaced him. At the start of the season Lyon was one of the clubs who were considered as one of the favourites to win the Champions league but under Houllier they were eliminated rather early. They lost the League cup to Bordo last month and i think next season they will be even worse under him. Thats just my opinion though Form dipped under Thompson at Liverpool, they went mega defensive as it was the safe option, they needed to guard their good start to the season. It worked at first then fell apart, GH then came back at probably the wrong time (pressure from fans, media, board and probably his own pride) and tried to bring out the attacking side of his team (notably in a game in the CL against Leverkusen where he subbed Hamann and it fell apart IRRC) , which failed because of the way the club was run for the past 6 months plus, ultra defensive, 'doing it for Gerard' was uttered every single day from Liverpool mouth pieces, only his organised defensive side had been turned into a brickwall because Thompson couldn't bring out the attack force as well as keep it clean at the back. He then found it difficult to change the team as everytime he went to attack they lost, a lot of the time undeservedly but results stand, and negative and defensive football was winning them games, so he had to do what was best at the time, the fans thought they'd get that attacking ability back when he returned, they didn't and they turned. Chelsea got knocked out of the CL yet again by Liverpool a vastly inferior team but that doesn't make Jose a bad manager. Lyon being Fav's in the CL was an over estimation of a team ripping its league apart, it was daft to think they could win it, there were several clubs bigger and better. Another factor in this can again be highlighted by Chelsea, last season when the title was wrapped up and Jose focused only on the CL, making comments about Barca months in advance, talking it up and putting immense pressure on the team, he failed because of that, and like Lyon walking away with the league their focus turns to a bigger competition especially since they've been dramatically bigged up by the media and bookies and failure is inevitable. His record speaks for itself, more importantly he cut it here and we'd all be happy if he cup get us a league up in the next 5 years nevermind 2 league cups, FA cup, UEFA cup, Charity shield & a European Super cup in that time. That's why i think its daft, very daft to dismiss someone with such quality. I actually think he's improved as a manager since leaving Liverpool, he's taking himself a lot less seriously and is enjoying football, and he maybe ready for an FA cup final 38 games of the year instead of sleeping through a league and waking up for one competition when its on.
  5. Hopefully they'll take Dyer off our hands then! Dyer & Duff for £7m each, maybe Parker as well for £9m or even Owen for £15m.

  8. Cracking little shout that mind. Would be a good 1 in the 4-5-1.
  9. Emre will be off, and with 3 quality wingers (Milner, Duff, N'Zogbia) it seems a shame to waste them Zoggy can play where Emre plays, in fact i think that position would suit him well, and Milner can play where Owen is positioned in that team, he's finding his shooting boots. This also leaves the option of a 442 if ever we need it, without committing to the formation indefinite. I suppose yeah. And that's actually the sort of role duff had at chelsea. Owen--------Ameobi (?)---------Martins Milner------------------------------Duff Duff could survive if a re-shuffle happens although i'm not sure i want him to.

Young player trying to squeeze in with an awful manager, team mates, training and tactics. No doubt he can play there once a decent manager gets a hold of him.
  11. Milner's natural or 1st position was sitting behind the frontman in the centre, he could do that job although a furtherback central role may just be a bit much for him to command himself in there right now, although in the future why not?
  12. Getting rid of say Dyer would easily cover the costs of the additional staff. Dyer impact on the team = zero 20 additional backroom staff = success

  14. Hopefully some, and at least the same structure. I hope FS realises when he goes for Sam, he's bringing in an additional 20 backroom staff to get the best out of the players and the club. Ben Haim on a free would also be a good start.
  15. Lets hope he leaves his son behind
  16. Please go back and carry on its a hoot. Fuck me, he says now would be a bad time to sack a manager, and then goes on to advocate sacking the manager in January instead, having allowed him to spend our summer transfer budget. Told you it would make you laugh.
  17. Its a concern but he'll either go 4-3-3, change tactics or Owen could be off to Manu anyway. I'd be happy with any of the options.

  20. Your nuts, but i've always thought that
  21. Carr - Liability, injury prone, on too much money. Babayaro - Same as Carr with less passion and plays less games, can only be motivated by deaths in his family. Moore - Injury prone, crap in the air, dirty, and back off home. Bramble - Will never be the defender we hoped for, out of contract, will be off. Cave, Shanks & Gate - All off to Darlo so i hear, don't know how true but they mustn't be cutting it. Pattison - Might as well get some coin for him, not going to make it O'Brien, Same as Pattison, but i think his contract is out but under rules we should get some compensation. Ramage - Not good enough and with so good free defenders flying about i'd use his transfer fee to pay their wages (Ben Haim) Sibierski - cheers, good stop gap same as the man who brought you in, now we need someone better, tailed off in 07, no way should we re-sign him. Emre - Horrible little bastard, no end product, costing too much to keep and still holds good value in the market ATM, sell to fund other players. Dyer - Everything what's wrong with this club, injury prone, on a scandalous wage, and does very little when fit. Luque - Missing man, again costing a bomb, goodbye. Duff - Had a poor season, costs a bomb, produces very little but intrest from Tottenham for £7m is a dream come true, sell now while we can. Butt - Great season but if we can get £1m+ from the Mackems for him then take it! Parker - Not as bad as the others and could be the perfect man for SA 4-5-1, but if we can get daft money off WHU if they stay up then we should take it. Swap for Tevez would do me! Owen - I'm praying on a bidding war from Manu & Liverpool to see us get what we paid for him, if so then lets just thank our lucky stars we didn't go under funding such a luxury player.

  23. This am not getting. Why did we pay up his remainder of his contract if he resigned? Surely that means he was sacked? Nope, it means we said we'll give you £1m now if you resign. If we have to sack you later, we'll take you to court and fight to not have to pay you anything. So why didn't we do that then? We did it with Bobby.
