  1. But Houllier was at the centre of the development of the like of Gallas, Henry etc through the French youth system before they even came to England to play under Wenger.
  2. What did he do? finish 3rd? Benitez won the champions league with the same sqyad. Aye just finished 3rd, no trophies or anything.. Didn't he finish second one season?
  3. If true it would probably spell the end of FS as Chairman, as i would kill him for putting such a clause in Owen's contract, Owen himself would probably get his legs broken for agreeing, so i cannot see this happening at all tbh.
  4. Given Young Taylor Davies Baines Milner Parker Tevez Zogbia Anelka or Bent Martins Sub: Ben Haim Solano Sidwell New left winger Ameobi Sell Duff, Luque, Dyer, Emre & Owen + new EPL TV deal money to fund that lot.
  5. Looks distinctly s*** / average to me. I think a line up very similar to that is very likely and realistically about as good as we are going to get. What would yours be then? We can do better than Dyer and Ameobi for a start. Youngs decent but i think we can do better than him as well. I think we will be seeing a team quite different from that lining up next season if we get Allardyce, and it will probably be better as well. Based on the back end of this seaon Dyer and shola have admitedly been very poor, but i'm guessing Big Sam will probably keep them on and will really fire them up. Young is good imo and probably the best we'll get, i'd preffer Richards from Citeh but not too sure they'd sell and if they did it'd probably be to Chelski etc Care to make a line up/formation prediction of your own then? Jesus fuking wept.
  6. But the money is too tempting. £50,000 per week, 5 year deal plus a heft signing on fee (say £2m) since he's on a free = £15m = life of luxury considering he was a Championship player last season.

    How Fickle

No, they were for a while, but not all season. End of March they were, he even said so on SSN's the other day about it and how football can change so quickly (a manager's was of saying how fickle his cock sucking fans really are)
  8. Like i said, its unfair to promote Krul to no2 as he needs games (loan move) but as for Harper, well i think we'd be better off with someone else as no2 as he doesn't bring anything to the table that Given cannot do. Like Leazes1986 said - who would come here to be number two to Shay Given, and in the knowledge that a highly rated youngster is biding his time to take over as the number 1? Steve Harper isn't as good as some make out, but under those circumstances is probably better than any other option I can think of. A number two keeper at NUFC doesn't need to be pushing Given, just provide suitable backup in cases of emergency. As I said, this has been Given's worst season for injuries, surely a one off...? Injuries are not what i've got a problem with, he's just not learning at all and i feel its because he's guaranteed his place as long as he's fit.
  9. That would be the next step if what am saying was agreed in principle. I really do not have the answer, only two options, an aging keeper (toldo mold) who'll be part coach part backup or a keeper with such different abilities (communicator, organiser & distributer) to Given that it could rub off on him. Maybe these are parts of his game that come at 30+, but there have been no signs of it developing for sometime now and i think it needs addressing.
  10. Which area has Given improved in since his (kruls) arrival? Which area has Given improved in, in the last 5 seasons? He's the same keeper, and has been for a while. Souness tried to improve his kicking (head down, straight line) but that was given up on pretty sharpish for some reason.
  11. Do you not think the threat of one of the most highly-rated young keepers in Europe is enough to keep him on his toes? Obviously not.
  12. Like i said, its unfair to promote Krul to no2 as he needs games (loan move) but as for Harper, well i think we'd be better off with someone else as no2 as he doesn't bring anything to the table that Given cannot do.
  13. Nobody think Given needs a challenge though?
  14. There was talk when England were on the ropes for keepers that Harper could of been the man if he could get regular football, well its just not the case really, and was blind favoritism from anyone (including me) who said so. He's done his job as back-up very well, he's sat on the bench and kept quiet and without costing too much. Called into action when needed for the 1st time in several years this season and for me was average, sometimes very poor, but sometimes he pulled off one two solid saves. But for me he brings nothing to the goalkeeping situation anymore. I'd rather have Tim Krul as no2, but if would be unfair on the young lad who desperately needs games to bring on his ability. Its been well known for some time now poor Harper is a Given clone, only not as good in every department, and that for me lies the biggest problem. He doesn't push Given at all, he doesn't make Given want to sort out his organistation of the defense, his kicking or any other area he is weak in, and certainly cannot teach him anything either. To top all that i would like to see Harper have a career of his own, and show us the ability we all thought he once had, but it wont happen here. For me its time to sell and to replace him with an aging giant of the game, or a keeper who is so vastly different it will make Given stand up and improve and finally have some competition as Harper offers none & Krul is about 5 years away for being a realistic option.
  15. Newcastle with a solid manager is a magnet, he's a good enough name to bring in the players we need. Of course he is. If we start challenging in a year or two imo there won't be many players we can't attract. Really need to pick the relegated EPL clubs and the none promoted Championship clubs for their star players imo, that alone could create a core team which would see us back up at the top. Baines (if Wigan go down) Bale (If Soton dont come up) Davies (If WBA dont come up) Young Bent Barnes (If Derby dont come up) Baines, Davies, Young, Barnes & Bent for me would see us laughing next season, even just the 1st 3 (Baines, Davies, Young) would get us 5th imo. 5th with our midfield?? Mentalist. Duff, Zoggy, Dyer, Emre, Butt, Parker, Milner, Solano - two players for every position, decent ones under a new manager and a solid defense, i dont see why not. I'd quite happy get rid of most of them, but they are all sought after players and would take very good players to replace them. 1) they are not "sought after players" 2) Duff, Dyer, Park All linked with big money moves in 2007, i'm not seeing your point. i hit send by an accident. read it again, sorry. After edit:3 Maybe so, and i'm in the same opinion, but others dont share it and rate these players. If we sold Dyer, Parker & Duff in the summer who would buy and how much would we get, i think more than we should tbh, but in the end of the day they are good EPL players & British, and they hold value. I reckon maybe £4m for Duff if they didn't see him play for us, maybe the same for Parker if we're lucky, £2.5m for Dyer. £7m was the supposed bid for Duff from Spurs, a reported £8m+ fee for Parker from WHU. I reckon nothing less than £5m for Dyer, someone would take a chance, if not Spurs, Portsmouth or several teams of that ability. Those figures are all just paper shite though, and you know it. And you know how full of crap the papers are too. We'll have to wait and see, but lets not pretend they are top Premiership players. Paper talk or not, interest is there, and we'd get decent fee's for them if they left. I never said they were top EPL players, only good ones, and good EPL players have hefty price tags these days especially household names, especially British household names, rightly or wrongly.

What big money moves?? Duff to Spurs, and if we were up for selling i could see Liverpool having a sniff tbh. Dyer also to Spurs and i think a lot more clubs would be willing to pay decent cash to get him after this season (injury free since return) & Parker to WHU for a silly fee was touted in the last window. Our manager had to deny the Duff & Parker moves to the press.

  19. Mackem WUM surely. Some of you have very very short memories of the side KK actually made us into when he took over from ossie ardiles. Football has changed so much since then, all you needed was a financial boost and a great motivator. Nothing to do with the tactics and the amazing football he had us playing then? mackems.gif You funny fuker!

  24. Ivan Campo was Real Madrid reject Okocha and Djorkaeff at the time were above 30 and they were past their best The signings of Anelka,Meite,Ben Haim,Faye are more impressive for me. But, they are big names with big reputations. Players abroad will know about Sam Allardyce, and the quality of his managerial skills, because this information spreads by word of mouth. True that they were big names with big reputaions but they were hardly top players especially Campo The thing i like about Allardyce is the fact that his scouting/searching system is at good level. He is bringing players from Africa and they are all good.He can spot the good player. They were all big name players for a club like Bolton. but allardyce isn't going to be at a club like bolton. No, he'll be at a club like Newcastle and should be able to attract better players. At the time Bolton were near enough nothing, and he was bringing in solid names, Anelka is another example of how far he's got, a player we looked at over and over again. the hilarity was at the "no top palyer would turn down Sam Allardyce", which is a level of myopic self-importance and stupidity that surprised me even from a NUFC fan. Not in argreement with that also, but he can bring em in, and usually above is weight, which was what i was pointing out. T27 is just excited man, especially after having to put up with Mr Glen 'Captain Charisma' Roeder.
