Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
James replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
I think every team wanted to avoid Milan in Pot 3 and us in Pot 4. France, Germany, Italy, England. Going to be tough, going to be fun. -
What we as fans need to be wary of is that the print and breaking news media and those affiliated with betting companies want Howe out due to the revenue this will get from clicks and bets as we contemplate Howe’s future and look for a new manager. Not a phenomenon exclusive to Howe, will be the same for Ten Hag and Klopp and Ange. the narrative we read about ‘is Howe good enough for elite management’ will be dripping with this narrative, while it is blatantly obvious that our first four fixtures (the first choice for the NUFC job, Man City, Liverpool, the inevitable bookies favourite to replace Howe) were put together by the PL as a favour for the media. The owners and fans are really going to have to rally around Howe during any inevitable form dips and keep the faith. Rise above this evil conspiracy.
-
we will because the fixtures at at time actually are beneficial towards playing the fringe players at the weekend
-
You play a weaker team vs Sheff Utd in the league then whack on full strength vs Man City 2nd team which potentially doubles our chance of winning the competition. we showed in the friendlies that we can field two teams effectively.
-
Why would anyone pay for a player in these circumstances. also now after staying his innocence, Man Utd have let Greenwood hold all the cards
-
Maybe they have found out that Frimpong is the better option.
-
the 20 year old student placement at work actually dresses like this on teams calls, minus the NUFC badge.
-
Horrible statement from Man Utd that basically defends him

I live in Manchester, agree that St James Park, just the way it forms a part of the local townscape makes it a superior stadium, particularly since the place got a clean. However I think when people plaudit Etihad and the surrounding campus, it is in comparison to Old Trafford which has become a dump. Truly one of the worst well known stadium in the world.

Not sure I can put my finger on why but I’m developing a dislike for the European Head of PIF or whatever his job title is. Am I irrational?
-
he really should have told himself this every day
-
for me it was because they were clearly trying harder in terms of their performances when the game was on TV
-
suspect a lot is on the player side, ie informing Chelsea that he does not intend to sign a new contract and would like to join NUFC. Not much you can do from that point
-
I just got Excel out and calculated the amortisation fees of the whole squad (so even players like Manquillo) After we sign Hall, our annual amortisation fees will be £107m (my method over estimates a little), representing a £31m increase compared to last season. why do I mention this? Well if you factor in new income - Sela, CL, higher league prize money, ASM well this more than covers this increase. In fact I reckon that there is now room for two more players if we want to.
-
isn’t there something in terms of wages that we can’t exceed either? So if he is earning £15k a week and is an initial loan with a subsequent contract of £60k then this season we would only be paying £15k a week staying therefore below a wage bill threshold?

make your mind up I thought you were a prophet
-
Fair to say that were we to beat Man City on Saturday then my happiness levels as NUFC fan would be higher than at any point in my adult life.
-
got to acknowledge Ando for this one too
-
think our England team would be competitive against the world elite
-
probably and I am expecting Targett to ask to leave just like he did at Villa
-
Wonder whether Targett will put in a transfer request
-
Bah I was about to start this Fred
-
yes I don’t get it when people are saying he should play for pride and glory elsewhere. what is he meant to do as a squad player for Everton or Norwich that will lead to pride equivalent to the £2m a year he would thus lose out on.

No way Krafth earns more than Fraser
