    Obafemi Martins

Obafemi Martins would make the worst midfielder ever at the club.

    Obafemi Martins

That's because he doesn't have a clue what to do with it, and can't dribble worth a s****. Not sure how that has anything to do with his quickness though. Thats the point though, speed is only an asset if you can use it, but too many people quote it as one of his best assets when the reality is that there isn't any benefit from the fact that he can run fast. Kieron Dyer, now he was genuinely quick, and when fit would piss on Martins from the top of the Gallowgate. Kieron Dyer was a worse player than Oba though... No he wasn't, we just had really high expectations at the time and he was always injured. He was like, at least Oba can hold people off the ball on he can score from all over the place with all parts of his body. Martins has more strength, power, pace and ability than Dyer. Firstly, whereas I was comparing how Dyer and Martins used their pace, you are comparing them as strikers, and Dyer was a midfielder. Secondly, Martins might do the occasional thing that looks good and impressive, but the fact is we are playing with ten men with him most of the time, whereas Dyer was an extremely important contributor to a team that played in the Champions League. Oba Martins will never be good enough to be a regular starter for a top 6 side. Thirdly, is it a coincidence that Martins only good spell of form at the club (the winter months of his first season), he was playing alongside a fit Dyer?

I don't get why people say Martins is quick. He might be able to beat players in a running race, but when the ball comes close to Martins, the game slows down dramatically.
  6. Imagine if we were going down in the 90th minute and Ranger scored and kept us up. That would be phenomenal.

    If we go down....

Krul Beye Taylor Bassong Taylor Solano Butt Nolan Lua-Lua Lovenkrands Carroll Something like that would be the right mix we'd need for the Championship in my opinion.

I'd have him back. He's only 34, and surround him with good young legs and he'd be excellent, not to mention the experience he brings. Basically an experienced, technical player would be hard to find, we are relying on some of our youngsters having technical mastery, and might be too early yet for vukic and inman.
  9. Would you want to see Shearer try and bring back this fella? http://www.4thegame.com/media/00/03/98/nolberto_solano.jpg
  10. I hope we don't try and keep Harper.
  11. He is supposedly a Newcastle fan isn't he? He wont care in my opinion.
  12. I'd definitely not want to see Berbatov play.
  13. We are going to have to choose between Krul and Harper if we go down. The club won't be big enough for the two of them. One wont sit on the bench. Hopefully we'll go for the brighter option.
  14. why should it be locked ? Fact is, it won't be unless people like you continue denying the obvious. If you read around, lots of people say the same. Who cares what Macbeth or Mick think? No point to this thread.

  16. What will be an absolute travesty will be when Harper gets the No.1 jersey in the Championship, and Krul fucks off and finds himself starting for Chelsea and Holland within 5 years.
  17. The benefit is those players could pick up injuries. I'd love the above to be the team but it won't happen Fergie will rest people, but it won't be to the extent said in the papers and will be close to the quoted post. Fergie knows that it is important to have all his players in the 'zone' i.e. used to playing and winning, and this is the perfect opportunity to get his Barca subs bench in that 'zone' I'd imagine we'd see Scholes and Macheda though. To be honest, I'd rather see Wellbeck, Macheda, Scholes, Foster, Evans playing than Ronaldo, Carrick, Ferdinand, Vidic and co. The aforementioned players are good enough to beat Hull and will have the right mentality for it. Ronaldo and co would just be half-arsed, and that would be bad for such a fixture.
  18. To be honest, if you gave Shepherd a bottomless pit of money, he'd do a better job than all other PL chairman, the trouble is is that he can't be shrewd or sensible.

Should have been blacklisted when he got filmed singing "you'll never walk alone"
  21. We'd need to win if West Ham are to have anything to play for vs Boro next weekend.
  22. Can't blame them, defend the lead, qualify for the UEFA Cup.
  23. Im normally positive, but the scores and league table don't lie. We are dejected for a reason, carry on with your delusion if you want. Aye positive result on monday, crap atmosphere and general negativity from the fans, spot on, just what we needed. No negativity about this game from me until Fulham scored, thats for sure.
