England are bound to lose as many English players are stupid enough to not want to play abroad.
-
I like the sound of that. There isn't really much for a captain to do most of the year, as the squad aren't together. Maybe though we could announce who the permanent captain is for international tournaments.

I reckon January would be the best time to sign this guy, I can perceive Allardyce doing what Fergie did with Evra and Vidic. Thus he could be a bit of a Luque until 2008/09, but then he becomes a bit brilliant, playing in some attacking midfield role in whatever system Allardyce is slowly trying to tune this season.
-
Perhaps its six months out if he needs surgery. He clearly has a major long-term problem that was caused by a thug called Marlon Harewood.

Whenever someone slates Bobby, just remind them that a defence of: Griffin Bramble O'Brien Hughes beat Juventus 1-0 in the Champions League Not to mention: Griffin Dabizas O'Brien Hughes who beat Feyenoord 3-2. Makes him well worth the money.

It is true though that he rejected our first approach in 1999 because we wouldn't pay him enough. Although I prefer to believe that the offer from Shepherd was derogatory as mentioned in Robson's autobiography.

There seems to be a pattern in Roeder following what other people tell him. I remember last January he wasn't buying people because one of his mates told him that the player was no good.

You. incorrect *Checks threads* *Sees thread about England team* *Opens thread* *Posts in thread* *Posts again in thread* no honestly mate i don't care Then stop god damn posting in this motherfucking thread.

He lives near Chester-le-Street. He probably owns several properties, but I dont care as he has deserved it.

I've never got why England make no attempt at hiding their team selection. Before every match at the World Cup, the press all knew and published the starting lineup based on the teams that feature in the training match.
-
I think our defence is better than it has been since Bobby Moore became past it, but we are a lot lot worse in midfield than we were in the 90's.
-
I dont think there is any outright interest, just a case of our scouts doing their jobs, and Levski's Finacial Director doing his job by trying to drum up the valuation of one of his teams players.
-
So has anyone been following his progress this season for Le Havre since its become pretty likely that he has signed for us?

Poor Sir Bobby. I hope the football world get some kind of chance to thank him before it does happen.

For me, before nationality quotas and wage structures are looked at, we need to get the number of substitutes up to seven, and perhaps enforce a rule that two players in the first 18 must be under-23 and played less than 50 competitive games.

Good post. Can't see what great advantage quotas wold give tbh. On another note, people always talk abot EU law when it comes to employing foreigners, but cricket teams are only allowed 1 overseas player, why is that allowed if a similar law in football wouldn't be? Law only interested in employment rights of EU members, and maybe apart from a couple of Dutch players, no other Europeans play cricket of a county standard.

I think wage caps are a possible solution, i.e. each team is only allowed to spend a certain amount on wages. If worked out correctly, I can see a situation where the best players still come to the Premier League, but those mediocre foreigners who come to the Premier League for inflated wages will get pushed out and replaced with British players. Could we get away with banning non-Brits without professional contracts? That would mean that clubs couldn't fill their academies with foreign prospects, forcing them to concentrate on the British crop.

A UEFA A Licence. Not bad for a 27 year old goalkeeper who never made it as a player.

How is Krul doing at Falkirk these days?

Last season, I identified Given's weaknesses as poor at dealing with balls in the box, having zero presence, no command of his area, and being a poor communicator. He certainly deserved a chance though at that stage based on the people in front of him, although I suggested that after our next defensive overhaul, if we were still having problems, Givens career at Newcastle should be put under scrutiny. Despite an extensive overhaul, bringing in players that are clearly better than the last lot, we have conceded more goals this season than we did in the same fixtures last season, and I haven't noticed an improved individual performance by Given, and he is the best of our two keepers. On that basis, I'd be happy to sell Given for a fair price if we could get someone like Jaaskelainen.

Its Adam Sadler, who theoretically could now be the manager of players who are older than him.
-
I knew this thread was going to be about Carr without knowing any details beforehand.
-
We've also conceded a lot more goals in the fixtures we've played than we did in the same fixtures last season.

The FA's reasoning completely baffles me to be honest. Have they not issued suspensions before based on video evidence? Perhaps we should sue UEFA for millions of lost earnings due to them suspending Shearer for that elbow against Inter.

You should be the last person to comment. Like I said, I know a few things about bad threads.
