  1. Wasn't in the EU at the time, and is geographically just an island off Africa as it is just an island off Europe.
  2. Hasn't had a trial in my opinion, just Italian press hearing he's off to England and guessing us due to past form.
  3. Wiki: Several national football associations which are geographically in Asia or mostly in Asia belong to UEFA rather than the Asian Football Confederation. These nations are Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, Russia and Azerbaijan (Israel and Kazakhstan are former AFC members). Cyprus chose to be classed as a European football nation — it had the choice of Europe, Asia and Africa. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Israel is understandable, and I can see why Turkey and Russia in particular want to stay within the UEFA confederation in terms of not cutting off large financial supply to the larger clubs, but perhaps we should look at making the Russian and Turkish international teams qualify with the Asians in order to strengthen the quality of international tournaments.
  4. Exactly two years since his debut, in which he won a free kick that Charles N'Zogbia scored to equalise against Fulham.

  6. It depends on the development of the latest batch of 15 year old English strikers. I think Owen will be pretty sharp for a few years yet, and no existing English strikers will get him out of the team.

    Emre

Care to justify that nonsense? What in his time here has he done apart from the Sunderland match? He's one of our highest paid players, and we get nothing out of him for months on end. Permanently injured, was the same at Inter, and when he's on the field he's inconsistent, slow, weak, one dimensional and dirty. You've given your opinion, but not on the bit in bold which I asked about. Well i've proven he's done nothing for the club, its not my opinion, its fact. He and his Country think he's the Turkish David Beckham, which quite frankly is an insult to anyone who knows anything about football. In so far as he is their best midfielder, yes. And he probably doesnt think he is David Beckham, just more shite to prove you flawed argument. If you personally don't like him as a player, fair enough, but calling him a waster and accusing him of thinking he is better than he is is just bollocks. Who realistically has done anything for this club since Emre has been here? Answers on a (very small) postcard. Shay Given Steve Harper Steven Taylor Nobby Solano James Milner N'Zogbia Dyer (yes even him) Nicky Butt Scott Parker Martins Sibierski You've missed Shearer, Owen and Shola
  8. Should, but would they? If they should then yes they would seen as this is all made up. Football isn't that simple. Just because one side is on paper is better than the other, doesn't mean that the better players win. Tactics, preparation and mental approach are also important, and in those departments we excel. Close call this one I'd say. The game would certainly be competitive that is for sure.
  9. Newcastle squad is: Given, Carr, Enrique, Rozehnal, Emre, Cacapa, Barton, Martins, Owen, Duff, Harper, N'Zogbia, Milner, Smith, Geremi, Beye, Butt, Ameobi, Faye, Ramage, Taylor, Edgar, Viduka. England squad is: Robinson, Neville, Ashley Cole, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry, Beckham, Lampard, Rooney, Owen, Joe Cole, Richards, James, Bridge, Woodgate, Hargreaves, Wright-Phillips, Carrick, Lennon, Dyer, Crouch, Carson, Smith. Both sides have their usual management setup and have the amount of preparation/time together they'd normally have. Everyone is fit, and there are two Michael Owens and two Alan Smiths, one in each squad. Who wins over 90 minutes, extra time, penalties etc?
  10. Dad saying he isn't getting offerred as much as 'these people coming in from all over the place,' and that he should be treated like Liverpool treat Carragher and Gerrard. EDIT: His dad, not my dad.
  11. Shearer likes him as well it would seem.
  12. Nah, Ketsbaia was class on FIFA99.

    Steve Harper

Given certainly lacks a few attributes that make the difference between being a very good keeper and being a successful keeper. Also, his approach on and of the pitch always seems to be about him the individual, rather than Newcastle the team. He's certainly better than Harper, but this should be his make or break season. Now that he is behind a good defence, he needs to work on his kicking, throwing, his communication, his presence, and needs to create an aura about himself. He also needs to keep his mouth shut when Harper gets games. Fail, and he may as well bugger off. There are keepers in Europe who can offer at least as much as he does.
  14. To be honest, Crouch is a bit of a sly cheat. I doubt he was singled out, there would have been other players mentioned. Just Poll sensationalising probably.
  15. Gordon Arbeloa Cacapa Richards N'Zogbia Geremi Elano Lampard Malouda Torres Voronin Subs: Schmeichel Lescott Milner Derbyshire Roque Santa Cruz
  16. It may require a NUFC player getting on the end of the ball.
  17. As the statistics show, he was the most influential player on Saturday. Of course he isn't going to look as good as he did pre-season, as pre-season opposition played at a lower tempo.
  18. He had a bad game for his standards.
  19. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?view=DETAILS&grid=A1YourView&xml=/sport/2007/09/03/sfnnew103.xml Go down to the bottom of the page, and click on the various panels. This is an absolutely incredible piece that can convey a lot of information regarding our team that could not really be observed by watching the match. Statistically, Geremi, Cacapa, N'Zogbia and Owen did very well in some areas on Saturday.
  20. The Telegraph have this amazing incredible stat machine on their match report this season. It truely is the best I've ever seen, a mini-prozone as it were. Anyway, from that, Geremi received the most passes from defence in particular from Cacapa, and then passed the ball around pretty evenly to other players. This certainly indicates a contribution given the way the defence continuosly got the ball intothe midfield area on Saturday.
  21. Following on from the TV internet debate, if you read the Newcastle World prizes for subscribers article on the official site, it seems that Newcastle World will cease to exist soon, to be replaced by new internet service NUFC TV. Whether that is just a rebranding of World, or we've decided to breakaway is unknown, but hopefully it means that it can expand the possibilities of live and on demand streaming. Dont think existing subscribers will be affected though.
