Shola wasn't the reason we lost today. are you saying that playing Martins instead of Ameobi would've made no difference, like if Martins had some of shola's chance, and martins can score goals without much help, while ameobi, needs it practically to bounce of him into the net. Possibly, but probably not. Martins can create a goal out of nothing, but when he doesn't score he does just as little as Ameobi in terms of influencing a game. We lost the game in midfield and tactically.

If there is nothing Harper could of done for a shot from way out I think it is time to recall Shay, Shay Given would have done the same, as would Cech, Van Der Sar, Buffon......... At the end of the day, Harper did what he could. It was poor defending and shit attacking mixed with a good, hearty Derby performance. Recall Roeder!

Playing Smith right mf is a silly postion and god knows who dreamt that up. If it was originally to interchange with the striker, well they aren't doing that. I'd have rather him upfront with Owen tonight as they showed some nice interchanges for England for 20min or so a few weeks ago. Smith has to play as a forward or breaking from CM with late runs. The wide right thing isn't working. So why's Big Sam persisting with it? It's a bit like Souness playing Bellamy on the right when it was a total waste of time for everyone involved. And Bellamy did the job a hell of a lot better than Smith, tbh.
