All this after a sniff of a transfer story. January is going to be fuckin unbearable.

Dunno like ? It's in keeping with the recent tradition of their best players belonging to other clubs.
  3. Has Taraabt got a release clause in his contract ? Probably off in January if so.

Totally agree on that, just think Ba and his advisers are trying a get a deal done for January with a club. Yeah, certainly seems like they are. I guess the advisers are Ba's problem as well in a way. If it was as easy as getting Ba for £7m plus wages then there would be many suitors I'm sure. But if it's a case of getting Ba for £7m plus astronomical wages plus a couple of million to his brother and a few cousins, as well as his dodgy knee situation, it might be not be so easy for him to find a good destination. Obviously if he's only worried about money he might end up at QPR or in Russia or something. It won't be lost on shrewder, better clubs that despite Ba's brilliance and scoring record he will be difficult to accomodate. Not wanting to isolate already good strikers probably rules out a move to any of the top clubs. As you say QPR or Russia may tempt him, he'd probably get his own way at West Ham too, or dare I say it Sunderland, but it's probably Liverpool at best for him if he decides to seek pastures new.

Don't worry we'd be able to shift all three without any problem. Don't think ManU or the Arabs will be in for them, but they're decent pros and are on money that wouldn't deter other clubs. Thing is though, in the real world, they're about the level we can expect at Newcastle as squad back up and so may be better keeping them for that purpose. That's unless you belong in the deluded camp who think we are in a position to keep top players in cold storage up Barrack Road who will be quite content to bide their time and get some action when first choice players are injured or suspended. Providing he is replaced getting shot of Simpson would make financial sense to Llambias et al. Really want to see a CH come in personally. There were rumours of Villa being interested in Gosling a while back - I really don't think he is anything special (and injury prone) and probably only got him because he was on a free. I really don't think you'll find anyone of the black and white persuasion who would argue with either of those two points.

Better clubs? We pay very competitively to the top players, have a very respected manager and play in front of big passionate crowds in a superb ground. Its about sticking your chest and saying we are Sunderland and are serious Read more: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=749236&page=2#ixzz2FPJDzjqE About signing Lescott on loan... Well they got one point out of four correct in that sentence. Not bad for a macum. The only reason one point is correct is because they have to pay way over the odds for anyone to even entertain the idea of playing in such a backwater.

  8. Gonna be a very different game to the Arab poodles. Completely different kind of pressure.

I'm not going to be grateful for any little scraps they deign to throw our way. We've needed a centre back for nigh on two years and an upgraded right back for just as long. I'll criticise them if they fail to improve and move us forward as a club. Ashley and Dekka for not doing what's needed to take us onwards and Pardew for the bullshit he peddles and his apparent lack of spine in this area. If they're not willing or able to move us forward then they should piss off and make way for someone who will. Brilliant! We've come full circle now. Any dodgy estate agents or fanzine editors out there willing to give it a go ?

I'm quite amazed at how indifferent I'd be to Ba's departure. Such a wonderful talented player who's goalscoring record speaks for itself but I do wonder whether he is part of the reason we aren't functioning as well as we should. I'd still rather keep him mind.....
  11. Danke Just about all you need to know in here http://www.bundesliga.com/en/ .....and ha ha HSV to you AlanS......... :-) PS. Be careful to confirm actual kick off dates/times after the matchday programme has been released. If you think English football has sold out to TV it's nothing compared to the Bundesliga. Despite many positives like fan culture, club ownership, beer on the terraces etc, they really have sold their soul to the TV companies.

Ashley the gambler has no problem whatsoever buying at any price, as long as the odds are heavily stacked in favour of a profitable resale if that becomes necessary. There will however be no purchases which don't fit that model.

Was initially quite excited until reading some of the more informed opinions on here. Sounds like he's a dud who will inhibit our "style" and be lucky to survive until May with his medical condition, Ashley, Pardew, Carr and every other fucker out !
  15. We really miss him. I think him and Anita could work in CM - two very intelligent footballers together.
  16. If you'd been in charge Dave, the global economic crisis may never have happened.

It's in case anyone forgets what the "S" in SMB stands for.
  18. St.Pauli would be a top choice, lovely little stadium, in a great neighbourhood of a brilliant city. It's got a real buzz to it, noisy, raucous but cheerful atmosphere. Their support is a bit "lefty" and they're usually protesting about something or another. Loads of hotels to suit all budgets close to the ground and a pre and post match atmosphere not unlike Newcastle due to the number of pubs on the doorstep. It's also only a stones throw from the Reeperbahn or Schanzen viertel two of Hamburg's best nightlife areas. Don't expect the tickets to be cheap though, it's a falacy. Despite being mid-table second division every game sells out and you could end up paying €50 or more. You couldn't fail to have a good weekend over there if you decide to do it.
  19. Difficult to reconcile what was a decent performance with another home defeat. At 2-1 it really looked like we could get something out of the game but there again they could have scored more than 3. Jonas is so far off his game at the moment we're carrying him, but the much maligned Williamson had a good game, especially considering who he was up against and made a couple of vital tackles and interceptions. Anita looked classy which of course, as a top graduate of the Ajax academy and Dutch international, we should never have doubted.

Middlesbrough, Darlington, they are just as bad. There are many sunderlands all over the UK. We are lucky really. Never found Darlo too bad but apart from that agree wholeheartedly, especially with the last bit.

  22. It may well be that HBA misses out but at the same time when an opposing team are preparing to play against us and he would be a major part of their preparations, it doesn't do any harm to throw them an occasional curved ball.

Just stopped off at a chip shop in a village which is a real B&W stronghold and said shop even had an NUFC poster behind the counter. Imagine my shock/surprise to see "cheesy chips" on the menu! Now I wouldn't normally be so arrogant to advise macums how to do things, but I really would have thought they'd have tried to protect that most Wearside of delicacies along the same lines as producers in say....Champagne, Parma or Wensleydale have done. If they do seek to protect their famous fayre then perhaps chippies outside of Sunderland could get around this by refering to the offering as "chips with cheese" or even "pomme frites avec fromage" in more pretentious establishments.
  24. My prediction is we'll start very slowly, concede a goal - probably from a defensive mistake or a misplaced pass by Tiote. Krul will then pull off a couple of wonder saves to keep it a 0-1 at half time. We'll then have a busy high tempo first ten minutes of the second half before slowing down and conceding two more - most likely in similar circumstances to the first. When the 4th official signals 4 minutes of extra time we'll have another flurry of activity before the referee puts us out of our misery at the exact moment a clearance by Hart crosses the half way line. Overall our peformance will contain some individual flair, but we'll carry passengers and our midfield warrior will provide more assists for them than us. Our most creative player will not spend enough time in an area where he can really hurt them and we'll look unbalanced up front. I so hope to be wrong.

Aye, I think that taking into account the relative situations with injuries, suspensions etc, the recent "fat lass" analogies on here are really comparing something pleasantly plump to something clinically obese.
