  1. It's quite amazing how a club can spend so much money and yet look so bad. It just shows the value of building a settled side. I was surprised that Hoilett was on the bench. He's quite a talent IMO, but it looks like he's wasted there. Their sterility surprised me yesterday considering their on a decent run, the players they have and they did quite well at ManU as well. The support at SJP yesterday was excellent - best in a long time I thought and right behind the whole team. It certainly helped the team.

Was it fuck. It was only sung for a few mins by the leazes corner. Heard about 1 or 2 sing it from the back of Gallowgate and that was it. Maybe you were timing it and I wasn't. Ah well at least you're acknowledging that it was sung.

SJP can be a vey harsh crowd to play in front of but the support yesterday was top class. Loud, passionate and 100% behind the whole team right from the off without wavering. Cisse looked good yesterday and the decision to take him off was an unpopular one. I never read too much into booing though. I've seen it reported in the press that the boos rang out around stadium before when in all probability it's a couple of hundred booing and 51,000 not. The booing becomes the story though.
  4. Huge moment in the game. Played with the sort of confidence he's only shown in European games before. A major factor in today's victory.
  5. Never lost a ball when he came on today - so strong and a great finish. He seems to keep his best for the pressure situations.

About 10 minutes of "Alan Pardew's black and white army" during the second half today in what was amazing support throughout to the team showed how different SJP is to internet forums. Changed the game when he had the balls to make (unpopular) substitutions which brought us the three points. He's got to think seriously about playing Jonas though.
  7. Dunno but "merde" usually suffices.
  8. I lived half a year in the Czech Republic in the late 90s. A lot of the Soviet architecture was still intact. It was indeed fascinating. Still remember going to a movie theatre in the center that still had a sculpted hammer and sickle above the screen. Parts of eastern Europe still retain a hint of that "post Communism" feel to this day. It is fascinating and if anyone wants to experience it they'll have to do it sooner rather than later. I think fans visiting Kharkiv will have a great time as long as they're savvy in their approach to the trip.

We had about 3000 empty seats against Man City. Aye was just under 50K I think. Mind a 12.45 kick off, on live TV, general mood of pessimism and City not selling their full allocation means it probably wasn't too bad. Point is they're getting desperate down there, measures like shifting away fans, thousands of one pound tickets and now thousands of frees getting handed out all over the place, they really are doing anything they can to pad out a half empty stadium in order to keep up appearances for sponsors etc, a bit like desperate newspapers who are giving away more free copies than they're selling in order to keep the circulation audits respectable for advertisers. They're not alone in that nowadays as most clubs are struggling to keep numbers up but I'd imagine they are much lower in the "gate receipt" table than they are in the "attendance" table and that's what really counts.

Giving two free tickets to season ticket holders for forthcoming matches against West Ham and Swansea. They must be getting really desperate to fill the pink seats and make it look less empty.

I agree, only thing that worries me is it might take him a while to settle and lets say it takes a month for Cisse to get back to good form, where's our goals coming from?(if Ba goes I mean) Same place as the second half of last season ? Demba Ba is an excellent player and goalscorer but we all know that something in the chemistry of the team is just not right. It won't have been lost on the people upstairs has probably been the Carr's remit in the last few months to remedy it.
  12. Looks like most of the Metalist squad is either Brazilian or Argentinian.
  13. .....aaah bless them..........they obviously didn't realise that playing in European competition involves long journeys to far away places.
  14. A post of contrasts. Essentially. And we know Mrs Bimpy has a sore arse today. Would never go near that entrance in a million years, it would be like sticking little Bimps in a meatloaf than smells like a slop bucket. Bimpy I reckon your tales of you and Mrs.B would make a great sitcom. You'd script it of course but who would you get to play the leading roles ??

Get Carter ITV4 ten o' clock tonight. Not relevant but more useful than most of the other irrelevant stuff in here.

"wait and see" has turned into a catchphrase. I wouldn't call years of experience of selling players to fund new signings assumptions. Almost every signing we've made since Ashley turned up has been funded by player sales. That's what happens when a club has been losing money, is trying break even and has an ownership that will only put a very finite amount of money into transfers/wages. That and shrewd/clever scouting. We'd best get used to it. I would his imagine his use of "assumptions" is probably based on your notion that their is some kind of "specific player" for "specific player" plan in place. Our finances are infinitely better than they were the day before Carroll left 2 years ago. I stopped believing the "we're so poor" lines quite a while back. There does seem to be a player for player plan in place. It's very clear we're after Remy as a result of Ba's status and Pardew (and maybe Llambo) himself said we weren't buying a new left back until Enrique left because we didn't want 2 on the books. If we'd have found a buyer for Simpson last summer there'd have been far more chance of us getting Debuchy imo. Also that purple player stuff. Whatever that is You don't say! I don't think "we're so poor" either. Latest noises have us around the break even point, which in European football nowadays actually makes us one of the richer clubs.

There are people on this board advocating him signing for yourselves in January on loan. To be honest we've got about as much chance as each other of signing him. Zero You already have so many CH's on your books and pretty highly paid ones at that. Our need is greater, but I agree with your Zero.
  21. Just call it the ASDA or wongadome if it makes you feel more at home. Anyway to counter your point I'm sure you'll find the words Sports Direct posted a lot more on here than you will in the Sports Direct besmirched SJP, so not entirely true.

  23. Seems like he's lost them already going from this place. This place bears very little resemblance to SJP.
  24. Don't think so. We're supposed to have a nice sell-on clause though. Sure I heard/read about one. I'm sure Pardew will reveal all in the press.
