......and that their %age increase in gates was higher than ours post 1992, mostly down to the new stadium novelty effect, which seems to be wearing off quite rapidly nowadays. They'll be back down to Roker Park levels in a few years. Even sooner if Marty has his way......... they may have hit that the other night with many smbrs claiming the real crowd was cloer to 25k than the reported 35. Maybe they counted all the free tickets as in attendance, when they were in bemused peoples bins. aye, mine's in the bin, along with all the red clothes I ever owned. I'm not making that mistake again

Sort of contradicts their frequent and smug assertion that we're all plastics who don't attend matches, while all sunderland fans have never missed a game ever. Only mackematics could tally their undying loyalty to 15,000 empty seats and god knows how many bizzare free ticket schemes.

went to school in Heworth. 100% sunderland territory. Plastic mag, marra. I wouldn't have said Heworth was total mackem territory like. There are a few round Pelaw (My mates) but would say there are a lot more nufc, and he is def nufc, but as you say they will try and rewrite that so that he was a life long scum fan, its a coping mechanism Heworth, Pelaw etc must be at least 90% B&W shirley ?

howey ? In fairness to Howey he was a macum but had been at Newcastle since childhood so was probably more "one of us". Many forget Stan Anderson when throwing names in the hat. Probably a Sunderland and Newcastle legend (not forgetting he was at Boro as well).

Didn't hear shit about them when I came to town, but now everyone has brand new caps and slutty-tube-tops on. Of course I rep Oakland til I die with a gat in my hand, it just means more people to kill. Good to hear that level of passion in your support. I always found support in North America quite raucous on the day but lacking in real intensity, and I know some who change their allegiance on a seasonal basis.

Just take her to the match ffs.

God he was an awful ref was a fat bastard as it goes too. More muscle bound and very vain, is how I'd describe him. -
DG would just be the quintessential MON signing.

Pre-meditated, wrong and very costly. -

Agree, they're almost all hopeless. Shame we couldn't import them like players and coaches. However, recently I've seen a few at SJP who seem to be going out of their way to give us nothing, almost if it proves something for them in the wake of Ferguson and one or two others talking up the "intimidating" atmosphere, which in reality hardly exists. -

Howard Fucking Webb -
Seeing the state Villa are in, and that many of their fans imply it was MON who sowed the seeds of their current malaise, I'd be slightly concerned if I was a mackem.

We're gonna love this fellah.

A lot of macums saying there crowd was more like 25K than 35K in reality. And booing a realistic transfer target because of who he supported as a kid. Must be so depressing attending that place.

Feeling more positive about this than I have about any home game for a while. -
First pint in the pub after that match.

I'm absolutely fascinated by tonight's game. Are you guys mainly bricking it, or really confident? Think that should be a poll tbh. I feel like Im waiting for my verdict in a murder trial- Im either getting a death sentence- or walking and celebrating, the jury are still out. A lot been said in this thread but that just about sums it up for me too. -
Is Colo back to being Coco again ? Or are they sticking with the recent assessment that he's top class and probably our best player ? Most likely macktracking I'd think.

Evil. Aye that's what I thought. Positively saintly compared to some of the organisations using football to further their causes IYAM. -
That said I think there's every chance he'll use the Chelsea one to say as much as he can regarding his position. I very much doubt it. Not sure. It certainly won't dish the nitty gritty but I wouldn't be surprised to see a "love Newcastle, must all stick together, thanks for your patience and understanding" type statement. It's his most obvious platform but if he doesn't say anything there, now that the short term decision has been made, then I can't see him doing it anywhere.
