A very sensible post.

+10 ? Is that Shola you're talking about ? Surely Shola Ameobi can't have scored 10 goals more in European competitions than every player in the history of Sunderland AFC ?? Sorry but I don't believe that, it's just too far fetched.

Shame on those who doubted the power of Shola and didn't get on the great man at 8-1 for first goalscorer -
We all want the elusive success, but I don't think I'd sell my soul for a League Cup win. The PL title maybe Anyone who craves success at any cost should get themeselves along to Victoria Park tomorrow night to watch a team who won the cup not so long ago. They'll probably get beaten by Hartlepool and look like they're on a fast track to oblivion. I'm sure their fans enjoyed the success as much as anyone but with hindsight probably wish it had never happened.

I suppose we'd all like to think we're rational and can look at longer term objectives, but as football fans we're massively affected by week to week results and short term blips.

That'll do a lot of good for the cause. If true. I can understand crticism of Ashley, but what exactly do those who want him "out of our club" aspire to ? Is it the once lauded Randy Lerner/ Aston Villa model, or do they still hold out hope for an NUST fan led thing ?

Dunno, but it will probably warrant about 100 pages of wannabee hardman nostalgia on RTG in about 30 years time.

Swansea look even better without the self confessed macum hater

they are currently above us, thats all they aim for. Knowing the obsession with all things black and white down there there's no doubt that our poor season has bought him some time and kept the baying mob from Marty's door.

;D Nearly spilled my coffee. An unrelated thread tells of yet another crackpot scheme to fill the SoS with freeloaders today. This one foists tickets upon poor unsuspecting schoolkids for alleged good performance. Perhaps it would would work best by threatening them with free tickets for bad behaviour, perhaps as an alternative to detention or something.

nobody is looking at it negativly, its all positive at the minute but it's more than just carr finding players, which i've no doubt other clubs were looking at aswell, i peronally don't think sissoko and m'biwa came here as we were the best deal financially, i think they were persuaded by more than that, maybe as the best show case for a further move but given the wage prudency we appear to be showing i'd doubt we beat everyone else off with wages. Please don't tell me that this drawn out discussion is because you have took idle speculation (that there was genuine better offers for Mbiwa and Sissoko) and turned it outright fact? Come on really?? How many players turn down bigger contracts in this day and age. no no, it's came from me watching the players, having an idea how good they are and finding it difficulit to understand that I appear to have better scouting skills than liverpool, spurs, arsenal et al. i am genuinely surprised that these players have came here, they tend to go to clubs offering better wages than we do and in the champs league plus it's not like they are the 'hidden gems' of carr style folklore. Well, I understand what you mean and share your surprise. My euphoric reaction in the pub last Saturday after the match was along the lines of "how did WE sign him (Cissoko) why didn't he end up at Real Madrid or somewhere? ". His stock may have been high previously but has risen considerably again after his first 2 PL games. Anyway we got him, and having rushed the deal forward means someone other than Carr has performed very well. Regarding wages on offer, contrary to some opinions, we are offering as much as anyone outside of the CL select few and the looney clubs. Perhaps the CL elite considered they had full squads and priorities lie elewhere in strengthening, so financially we are the next best thing.

Just want him back on the park and playing again. Not too concerned about anything else atm.
-
....but what would else would you expect from us? We are after all the fans who prefer seeing our team lose 4-3 rather than win 1-0. Just a bizarre set of fuckers - thats us.......
-
Shame for them really. For many macums it would have been right up in their greatest moments ever supporting the club, alongside Shearer's injury during our 4-1 victory at the SoS.

Too true. All people/businesses/football clubs make mistakes and that needs to be understood. Smart people learn from them and grow stronger, and like you say admitting them is often the first step to rectifying things. Although some people will never give the current ownership credit, I think most fans appreciate their way of doing business and on a scale of 1 to 10 would be relatively content with the present set up in comparison to many other top level clubs. Out of all the articles I think this line was the most important of all :- "This club's finances are strong and we have a very strong owner behind it"

...and they won't be as long as it suits people like Platini to have things the way they are. Its a bit like EU rules...some countries(France, anyone..!?) ignore them at will whilst UK Civil Servant Mandarins gold-plate them and ensure the UK gets fined if it ignores them. Why would UEFA be any different..? funny, but with more than a hint of truth, and let's not get started on Greece etc.

http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showpost.php?p=14413204&postcount=80 Must be really desperate when they have to do this for a Saturday afternoon match against one of the league's most attractive teams. Those who pay full price must be pissed off at the seemingly endless number of schemes they have to fill the stadium with freeloaders.

Yes We're gonna miss Xisco like.

Who do they think they are telling people what they can and can't wear to come to a football match they've paid to see. Always been up their own arses that lot - think they're the Man Utd of the Northern League.
