Agreed to a point. We gambled that we would be fine with the team that finished 5th. The odds were good. Had we bought these players in the Summer we would have spent more than double. Doesn't make things better but that's where we are, lets get behind them and push them forward.
-
Only choice really for versatility, Mapou can cover a number of positions as can Santon. Will be the perfect place for Haidara to get a few games under his belt and get used to the team. Bit more optimistic about this one now, we could seriously compete, four winnable matches ahead then who knows.
-
i like him even more now. Spoke to Cabs, thats all that matters. He is boss now. Cant bloody wait to see Tiotes, Sissoko and Mapou together. OWNERSHIP.
-
Agreed, his form on the pitch and leading us away from the bottom of the table will be enough for me.
-
Unfortunate for Saylor, but he has become a liabilty with injuries. Wont be long until he is whining about not get games again. He should get two games in Europe at least!
-
Lets get Sakho Think that would be a possibility if he is still keen to get out of PSG. More likely we will finally get Douglas on a free though. To be fair, lets sack of Williamson and get them both in. Will be interesting to see how Tavs, Good, Streete and Satka improve. I doubt any of them will be quite ready for next season. I think we will sell Tavernier tbh, I think he has a lot of potential though and is not much worse than Simpson already.

I'm in no doubt the Pardew fully realises he is on the precipice and very close to confirming the Charlatan that he is. It is make or break and these signings may well have saved his arse, maybe beyond the summer too. He certainly knows he wont get a job bigger than this, if he doesnt throw everything at it now welcome to punditry.

Especially as he will have no intention of sitting on the bench somewhere, as he has already stated. If we get one more in I hope it is another versatile striker.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle - 29/01/13 @ 7:45pm - Not on TV

Lambert surely gone if we beat them. Not least after tonight's result. Krul Debuchy Mbiwa Colo Santon Cissoko Anita Gouffran Cabaye Marv Cisse Best possible team, as mentioned. Mapou depends on how fit Saylor is. I think he will start as there is as much risk in re-injuring Saylor as Mapou not settling immediately, latter is less of a liabilty to us imo. I think Sissoko commands a starting place but we shall see. Gouffran will probably be on the bench. I am going to say that the above will be the team but with Jonas in for Gouffran. -
Apparently prefers to move within France at the end of the season. Tend to think this is the primary reason for turning down the bid. We shall see.
-
Need another Striker really. Thauvin is done now until the summer. I'd expect the one more we are looking at was either Thauvin or Butland. That said, if someone we like is available at the right price between now and window close I think we will get them.
-
We were going to spend about the same on Remy.. No reason why we wouldnt still have that amount ear marked.
-
Other than the horrible source, if it was 10.5m in Euros I might believe it. We were apparently talking 6.5m pounds but he and the club have made it clear that he should stay until the end of the season. Couple of million more might do it. Seems a lot though.

Debuchy is signing for QPR.
-
Must be grounds to tear up his contract if he is charged for this. How many times can he fuck up. Detestable manchild. At least Joey Barton had some semblance of talent to persevere with.

Woot Woot!

Its the start of the brothers club, Ameobis, Amalfitanos...next stop the Marveauxs and De Jongs.
-
Completely agree with this, and as much as many of us on here think that this buying spree in january is a result of our p*ss poor league position and fear of relegation, I think we were also waiting to catch a lot of these guys with six months left on their contract. Wasn't Sissoko rated at 8-10 million not too long ago? We're getting him cheap because his club would rather have 2-3m than nothing at all. I think this might be half panic-buying half master-plan at the end of the day. Absolutely, its a moot point but if we had got the same players in the Summer we would have paid around double. Whilst it was a gamble, that still might cost us, waiting until now means we have certainly profited from a price perspective.

I'm pretty certain two of Colo, Saylor and Yanga-Mbiwa will start. Not sure which two though. I'd expect Gouffran and maybe Sissoko to be involved too, probably off the bench but we shall see. -
Not Gouffran but yes to others... You think Mbiwa would have still happened? Think we would have signed Gouffran aswell as Remy tbh. At that price we would be mad not to. Think we still have that Remy money ear marked for Aubermayeng or mabye RVW, time will tell, either next week or in the summer.

This is just like career mode on fifa right? "we are currently considering your bid for Florian Thauvin, while we believe the fee to be fair, we are not sure if we wish to let the player go at the current time." ..two days later its a done deal.

Gaël Bigirimana rejoins Coventry on a permanent basis

What does Sissoko mean for Gael, other than another fantastic player to learn from. He is a solid member of our squad imo, wouldn't like to loan him out. On the other hand he needs games to develop and probably wont get many with us now. Love the kid though, has tremendous potential. Do we push him as an attacking midfielder, which seems more natural or do we continue to develop his defensive side. Think he has the makings of a great box to box player. -

Crazy how other teams see us. We're like a threat on there. Yep, it's bizarre, annoys me how we'll not live up to their expectations lol I don't know what to expect now that we have all these new players. Expect to see them on the bench. -
I don't understand the "passion" argument of some pundits. As long as we have coaching staff that can communicate the importance of derbies it wont be a problem. To be fair its pretty hard to live in or around Newcastle and not see and feel the importance of the Derby within the community. Yet again its easy to blame us then address the real problems within English football. While we are getting nearly five players quality for the price of a young english player like Zaha we are laughing and I wouldn't have it any other way as long as they give their all on the pitch.

Official: Yoan Gouffran signs new contract with Goztepe
toontownman replied to Tooj's topic in Football
Blatantly just reassuring Yoan he will be at his leaving party. Loving his Demba Ba quotes. Reckons he can score as many as Demba without any problems. Certainly not lacking enthusiasm and confidence which is what we need. Hope he can indeed "hit the ground running" in the premiership.
