He looked tasty this summer. Got to be question marks though, did he just hit a purple patch? At 28 he is hardly a household name, for me anyway. That could maybe be because he has never played outside South America, I don't have the slightest clue about the leagues there. Nice for the price that's for sure.

as if things couldn't get any crazier.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/14/newcastle-united-premier-league-preview-2010-11 Louise Taylor goes and writes a half decent article about us! The world's gone mad I tell ya!
-
Today's actions shouldn't be a surprise, his agent did say "Hatem will go to Newcastle", people just didn't take the quote in the literal sense.
-
Nothing in it.. I'd be suprised if a few premiership clubs werent thinking of putting a cheeky bid in though.
-
Be happy with Mancienne. Araverlo looked great in the world cup but I would be wary on the fact its taken him this long to get noticed at 28. Regardless he is better than Smith. Looks like we are looking at a defensive midfielder at least. Surely we must be after a LB to cover for Enrique, if Hughts didn't trust Kadar there in the championship he sure as hell wont in the premiership. regardless of Ben arfa, a pacy right winger/striker would be cracking too. Anichebe wouldn't be disaterous, if our interest is true.

But Celtic werent key players in creating the problem. Well see, but Id be amazed if he ended up here on loan after all this nonsense. Apparently neither are we. According to the agent, the player was happy at OM, but the OM heirachy told him they didnt want him anymore and the club were the ones to source out Newcastle as a possible destination not the agent or player. Good news is that he does genuinley seem like he is dead set on coming to the North East. Downside is OM might accept Sunderlands offer instead. We simply cant do anything normal

I'm imagining Hughton and Lambias sat one side of a near empty room, Hatem Ben arfa and his advisors the other and a table with a telephone in the middle. No one saying anything.... AWKWARD!
-
Deep inside Jean-Claude Dassier's office. "So do you agree to the terms we set?" "reluctantly yes, we are agreed" "good, then we must finalise the agreement" "Ok, you ravishingly good looking beast." "I knew you stupid english would crumble in the end" "yes Jean-Claude." *knock at the door* Secretary - "there are reports Hatem Ben Arfa has fled to Newcastle to force a move" JCD: - "Impossible, everything is nearly worked out here." Secretary: "are you negotiating with yourself again?" JCD: "No" Secretary - "Jean-Claude...." JCD: ".......Yes" *hangs head* *secretary rolls eyes and walks out of the room, closing the door* JCD: ".........but the deal is really close to happening this time!... no it isnt....yes it is...offer higher......I hate you"

Probably because there are thousands of charvers calling every hotel to check!

Shenanigans of the utmost highest order!

Hughton: "Hatem what the hell? You can't just turn up here, nothings agreed. Ashley is here, if he see's us together you dont want to know what he will do to me, this can't go on. Go back to France!"
-
I know. It takes months to cut some hair off. He walked out of OM to get his hair cut, believing it would enable him to get out of France and into Newcastle without anyone recognising him. Disguise innit...worked on Mick and Gorrilla.
-
Probably turning up for training tmrw in newcastle gear, be there dressed and prepared before anyone arrives. "Reporting for duty and ready to go Mr Shearer!"
-
Nufc: "we will give you one million" Penarol: "we want four million." Nufc: "we will give you one million." Penarol: "four million." Nufc:"will you accept one million?" Panadol: "no, four million." Nufc: "minus three million, would you accept it?" Penarol:"we are not getting anywhere are we?" Nufc: "we are at one million?" Penarol hangs up Nufc: "okay, okay we can offer you a million....hey derek I think the reception cut out,its beeping at me...I will just stay on the line incase they accept"
-
This guy is a loon, first he was encouraging the move, then he said the move was close, then a bid was accepted, deal would go through soon, then maybe they don't need to sell him, then our bid was turned down, then it wasnt high enough. Now there was no bid? Was the same guy the problem with the Habib deal several years ago? That seemed to take a bloody age, ended up looking like it would never happen then it did out of nowhere.
-
My head hurts, with the ben arfa deal. Like the fact we are doing murky deals beyond the public eye, obviously I don't have a frickin clue who we are after! They are so good I don't even know if we are after anyone.
-
Might be worth a punt on this Knott guy if he looks decent, wont figure in the first team, but he might be one for the future, plus it would be nice to see a natural left footer in the reserves.
-
I'm not advocating for getting him. Just saying he wanted the Fulham job, I think he would jump at the chance of the job here if it was available too. Ajax letting him go is a separate issue, they are the reason he didn't to Fulham, wouldn't be any different if he wanted to come here in the immediate future.
-
Hughton has denied anything regarding Ben Arfa, he hasn't been committal either. He did say there was no progress or nothing new to report, something along those lines. Definitely in for him regardless of the outcome.
-
Nice. Its true, Perch is the new Aaron Hughes!
-
so if the power was in your hands who would you hire to replace him? Maybe Martin jol. For me if the manager picks the right team a result can be blamed on the players, for me hughton often selects the wrong team, ir Guthrie on the right and that will be found out this season The same Martin Jol who turned down the UEFA League finalist Fulham to stay at Ajax (2nd in Eredivise)? No seriously, who would you hire to be the manager? That said he only turned them down because contractually he had to. He would be here in a shot IMO.
-
I'd agree, Kadar look's far more proficient in the short time we have seen him. However, having signed Perch and Simpson I don't see us signing another RB, regardless of us needing one Hughton would be accepting poor choices as far as Perch and Simpson are concerned. Onuoha would be mint though. Back to Kadar, Hughton didn't rate him at LB last season in the championship so I would be surprised and certainly curious to see why he would rate him now. Van Aanholt was brought in on loan in preference despite being younger. I would love to see us getting a decent RB and LB in but I think its more likely we will get a LB

This, I have the brown panty fear. We will struggle to contain them even if we are playing at our best. Faith in the Hughts though.
