  1. WTF was that statement all about anyways? What a waste of everyone's f***ing time. Was aimed at other clubs and the media more than anything else, playing games and making sure we weren't held for ransom like in the past. As far as the better good goes, whom ever does the statements has never had a problem with leaving the fans as collateral damage. It's far from ideal as you can tell, but maybe its working?
  2. Mancienne would be a cracking signing, could do a decent job in DM or CB, could learn alot from Campbell too. Still be very suprised if we were in with a shout at getting him. Surely a LB and AM/striker are higher priorities.
  3. this hasn't been a great game in terms of quality True, but if we cant dictate the pace of the game we will be in trouble, paul scholes is quicker than the majority of our team. I don't think we can even register the speed they pass.
  4. Close call between the comical finish and the defending by chelsea. If Manure play anywhere close to this they will rip us a new one next week.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Is it too premature for the poll of who he will fall out with first? Hughton calderwood Carroll Barton Nolan Campbell The fans
  6. Good PR. It is what it is, I can't believe anyone wants to find something negative in it. Hope they throw some more random trialists into the training session for some more forum related hi-jinx.
  7. Sell to buy - only an option if we sell Raylor, Smith, Xisco and Ameobi. If that happens we might be able to afford one player from the SPL. Ie Kenny Miller.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

If cleverley has gone anywhere else, its because he isn't our first choice. Whether we get our first, second or third choice remains to be seen. Not hopeful about ben arfa, but we will get someone in to cover the left flank/upfront. 50/50 chance of getting out targets imo,We are probably hedging our bets to get our targets as cheap as possible, could be a good reason ranger and lua lua are sticking around in the meantime.
  9. stream?? Good experience for the bairns, hope they enjoy it and play well.
  10. Kevin looks to be eyeing the trophy up for his tea. "Please God, tell me this thing is made out of chocolate...." How come now Williamson involvement? Did he pick up a knock at the weekend, surely better than Perch?
  11. Sicko is pretty close. We do desperately need decent wing cover too. We will be getting a LB, if hughton didn't rate kadar there in the championship and got cover in, we will be doing the same now. I think we are still after a striker, surely one of best or xisco have to be moved on if we do, I think the options are still open on that one with ranger and best looking ok and xisco looking determined to stay. Let's hope not. An attacking cm would be nice, might well get someone that can play both in the centre or out wide like cleverley. Or a pacey striker that could also play AM. A good DM would be great but I think the other positions are more pressing and hughton is happy with either barton/guthrie deep or smith. I think we are still after those three but time will tell.
  12. Lets be fair, even if it was true its hardly a bid deal. The club has a blueprint for they type of players we bring in, Campbell isnt just borderline he is way off the chart so I would see it as a good sign the board level actually cares. Whilst Hughton should have complete control, the powers that be certainly has the right to check the with the manager to see if he is sure. I'd question whether bringing Campbell in rather than a young up and coming talent would be the right decision. Hughton however knows Campbell very well, knows what he brings to the table etc.. Nothing article trying to stir up a storm in a tea cup.
  13. To answer the second (merged) question. No. Whilst I wouldn't be unhappy to have him back here, I don't want him back, there must be better younger options, that won't cause bellamy like disruption in the squad..
  14. Was Bougherra the guy that was constantly linked with us the past 3 summers, each time he said we would be a backwards step? Will probably get him this time! Be a decent signing if the price is right, can cover in midfield too right?
  15. Hughton on reports we are retaining Nicky Butt in a player/coaching role?
  16. Looked decent at the world cup, not really a great guarentee. We were supposed to be out looking/scouting someone in the world cup though. Like you say got to be better than Smith either way.
  17. Which is why nobody wanted him last summer. And why he managed 10 league goals for us minus penalties. He's an average championship player who's past his best. I agree. I like the lad, but he is not premiership class. I think he might be effective off the bench, right now we dont have a whole lot of choice but to play him unless we are going to set up shop in defence/midfield. I dont think he is half as terrible as people are making out though. He has decent movement and a good finish on him and more pace than any other striker we have currently. He chipped in with a couple of goals last time in a poorer looking team (albeit not on paper), I think he will do the same this season, I'm sure we are still looking for a striker though with better qualities.
  18. In fact, it's the only thing he's got going for him I'm assuming he means his attitude on the pitch. Ie half arsing his way around and grinning like a goon when we are losing. When Shola actually gets motivated, fit and serious on the pitch he's an effective player for us. For the people wetting themselves about Hughtons comments: "He has a big part to play in our squad this season. It was only the injury that stopped him having a really big impact for us last season." At worst he is the 3rd best striker we have at the club, (which speaks volumes) even if we bring in another striker or two he would be getting game time at somepoint this season.
  19. I should bloody hope so he hasnt been playing for them for years!
  20. Surely they are told not to write anything so they dont get into any bother. Sure more than a few look at the fan sites though. Its been mentioned on here before a couple of players used to read from time to time.
  21. Was the least of our problems back then. Our soft centre never gave him a chance and still might cause us problems this year. Having Guti injured for long spells didnt help either not least because he then had to have Duff or a CM in front of him at LW..
  22. Can see Huntelaar being the new Kuyt, despite Roeder not scouting him. The one thing Hodgson is going to need if he is to succeed at Liverpool is time, two years minimum. The club is messy and unless new owners come in he wont have much money to spend to help his cause. I can see the scousers getting itchy feet by christmas if they are off the pace and the honeymoon period has worn off. I hope it doesnt turn into another Blackburn experience for him. I dont see Liverpool being top four this season the way things currently sit. A couple of big signings might change that, but Everton and Spurs will be pushing them all the way, maybe Villa too if O'Neill actually spends some of the Milner money. Man City should be top four providing they gel just a little. If they have patience Liverpool will pay dividens with Hodgson, if not we will see someone else at the helm this time next year.
  23. thought I was going mad there. Oh and to answer Fenham's question Joey Barton would be interesting.
