Newcastle United 1 - 0 Norwich - 18/3/12 - post-match reaction from page 35

Foot was eased off the pedal after our goal, we just wound down from there and called it a day at half time. Can't believe that was the tactics employed but seemed like we only cared to try and keep possession (god knows how I would come to that conclusion as we were fucking terrible at it) and defend the 1 goal advantage. Never really tried to use the wings and feed Ba and Cisse. In that case we would have been better taking one of them off and putting Santon on and playing 4-5-1. -

Ffs little effort!? Can't you realize how hard we press them at 1st half? Rematch the match you f***ing idiot. I'm happy having to watch it just once, I will take the win. Your right of course. Effort was way less in the second half but we were committed but disorganized, lacking any killer instinct and the sloppiest of joes in possesion. Midfield might just have been in the directors box they seemed invisible. -

Great result ground out by us, but completely unnecessary. Another game where we only turned up for one half. Pretty much did the usual and took the foot off the pedal after we went 1-0. The fucking foot was draped out the car window far from the pedal in the second half. Have to cut out this habit of sloppy passes we have found ourselves in. Still dont know how we had gaping holes through the middle when we had three playing there, and we were pretty much raped down the flanks at the same time in that second half. Our midfield was disappointing again. Lots of plus points though, Perch, Cisse's movement, Jonas playing very well. Midfield is worrying though. We showed what happens when we give our front two chances, please can we learn from that and do it more often. Stopping doing it after we are in front is not good enough. Think the players let Pardew down in that second half. Pretty happy with Pardews subs and tactics today. We need to find a greater attacking need and killer instinct. -

Good call, might stop all the sloppy passing too. -
Don't think there is anyone here that could honestly say different about Raylor and Perch.. all three have been great squad players this year. I have knocked Pardews motivational skills the past couple of months but he has got the best out of our worst players.

They would have been two quality strikes from the half way line Backheeled FYI.

Fuck that, keep him at LB and put Santon where he should have been playing all along.
-
Shite, should have buried that first and third chance. Nolan would have.

Should have mentioned Perchy, second game at LB looks the business tbh, great decision. Should have dropped Simpson to the bench and started Santon though. Simpson needs that kind of a wake up call, he has had no opposition for that RB slot. Raylor doesnt count. -

Some real brain dead use of possession from Guthrie, Williamson, Simpson and Ben Arfa, who is at his frustrating but less than best today. What exactly has happened to Williamson.. he was slow but he used to have a footballing brain, did the mackems abduct him and brainwash him in his sleep or something. He is a fucking HUGE liability. Cabaye reminds me of Scott Parker for us, goes about his job but doesnt appear to do much. Guthrie and Ben Arfa have been hit and miss. Please for the love of goodness, think about where you are passing the ball in the second half guys, should be 3-0 now at least. Dissapointed Cisse hasn't done better but cracking finish our goal. Guti hasn't been amazing but his passing has been on several occassions. -
Thank fuck for that, wasn't expecting good news. Hope he can recover swiftly, horrible, horrible thing to happen to anyone let alone at his age. Unfotunately likely to cut short a very promising career. Sad day.

Quite impressed with TFC to be honest, Galaxy were absolute turbo shit. Toronto were smart in possession, moved the ball around well and pressed really well. Totally deserved the win. Had me shitting myself with their insistence on playing a high line, should have been caught out but the gamble paid off.

Thanks for everything Mike and good luck in all your future endeavors.

Don't think Pardew got it terribly wrong here today, protected Cisse a little which will serve as motivation. Obertan didn't really come off which was a disappointment. I think he will be off in the summer. Perch played very well imo. Good sub there. Shola did ok too. Guthrie is unlucky not to be starting, would have done far better than Cabaye today imo. Rather see us change to 4-3-3 that watch this long ball shit again. Guthrie/Cabaye Tiote Gutierrez Ben-Arfa Ba Cisse

Nice, worked hard all game although he was invisible in the opposition half like most of our players in the second half. Can still do with stopping all the showboating and passing the ball rather than doing one trick too many and losing possession. That is something I hope we can iron out of his game, thought we already would have tried though. Wish Marveaux was back to play on the left. I love Guti's work rate but he offers nothing these days as an attacking winger. Think he should play as part of a midfield three in a 4-3-3.

reminds me of the depression i had when we sold him. same with elliott, watson, howey.. Yeah, I was gutted when we sold him and Watson, Elliot and Howey not so much.

This, certainly not getting on Simpsons back for this game. I can't stand the player but Williamson, Cabaye, Obertan were way worse. We are sorely lacking pace on the wings. -

Dont understand why the commentators havent questioned it. there has been nothing, yet the Sunderland game with the sending off and way more incident gets 3 minutes? crazy. And fuck off how can the ref blow the whistle with ball about to land in the Arsenal box?? Thought you had to let the offensive play conclude? -

Oh and Ba was getting the key to the city in Arsenals penalty box for the first half hour. They were playing so high and not picking him up. One point Guti should have played him clean through alot earlier which could well have resulted in our second goal.
