Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup
Kanj replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
Todd Boehly is going to hoy in 10,000 each for those. -
Lascelles kicking off at the lads who didn't give a shit when we went down, him being the leader under Rafa, his time as a properly good CB in the back 3, his never ending commitment to the fans and putting his best for the club. I'd love to see him get a taste of Europe as an NUFC player. Even if as a cameo off the bench or just on the bench.

People complain about our development of players -- we really can't just shove Willock, Longstaff and Joelinton aside for the headline names - those 3 have been pivotal to our tactics and our league position.
-
Nah they sold us WIllock for 25 mil then bought Odegaard for 30 mil + bonuses
-
Shak my guy, you and I see eye to on this all the time

I do not doubt for 1 second that this will be a difficult match away from home under the lights at a stadium that always sounds pretty intimidating on weeknights. I do not think we will turn them over, nor do I think they will for us. Thank God Gordon now plays for us because I'd actually be worried about him against us at home when his fans were backing him. Key for us will be how we jump out the blocks, and if our pressing starts working early (remember they have a good ball player GK who will attempt to kick beyond our press) and our CBs are winning higher up the pitch then we'll be good.
-
You should look at the average positions - Schar is the clear higher up CB and Botman is the one who's usually mopping up deeper. Schar's at his best when he's very aggresive winning the ball like that - recall his world class performance under Rafa at Leicester in 2019 (?) The CB's are both instructed to aggresively press and win back the ball when they come into the CF or wingers, ala Schar for Murph's howitzer and ala Botman for Willock's header v Man United.

Turn us over. They say this about a team that just dismantled Spurs 6-1.

I’ve got all the respect for Caciedo but if we’re able to get Rice then it’s him for me. If not then id rather buy and develop Kone or Thuram.
-
Always funny to me that when he misplaces a pass or loses the ball in he exact details are remembered yet footballers all over, our team and others do all of that every single game. Listening to a podcast this morning and it was really insane to me how he gets measured so differently. He has to be Perfect in some peoples mind to be worthy of any praise.

If you guys get a chance to listen or watch that bit with Ian Wright he talks about a lot of his upbringing, career moves, etc. once you give that some time you’ll see what I see in that I think. He loves it here, he wants to be our top dog but this is his first chance to add Europe to his story. his chemistry with isak on the sub and after match was telling, some proper big brother / little brother vibes. They were smiling and hugging and joking. Cal ain’t a fool.

I’m with you @Shak Id caveat that with potentially a fast better on ball LCB / LB if we can’t get Davies. (Ie someone who can play Big Dan’s role but is simply quicker and more potent when actually getting up pitch). I’m all in on Rice who I believe has the engine of Longie but better all around play, and a dynamo RW. Going to be hard for me to accept anyone displacing Joelinton and Joe Willock at LW/LCM at this point. Doing so stunts development of two sensational talents who play our ball and are integral to how we function as a team. I don’t want to see Bruno out of the deep playmaker role.

I'm glad Matt Law wrote an entire article about Poch without any bit on when he'd start.

I don't want him switching, if I'm honest. Keep the #14 and make it his own.

I think City will nip the title from Arsenal (and I'll lose my bloody bet in Vegas!) and it'll be a dogfight for 3 and 4 between us and Man United, potentially going down to the final match of the season. I think Liverpool, Brighton and Villa will be fighting for 5-6 and Spurs will fall down a bit. The Stellini departure makes it interesting, would like to see them slow down a few of the teams around us a bit!

First match was pure robbery, nothing more than that. Was our 3 points and it ended up being 0. The second match was our own doing and they played us in our worst possible time.

https://www.celticonmarket.com/ Will probably get there around 1215-1230p and look forward to meeting your brother if he wants to join us.

Ya, for work. My colleague bounced and you and I went down the deep end for a few hours

Messaged the admin of the Mile High Group and they said mid-week games are tough due to work, but that 1-2 would plan to come to meet etc. Not bothered with the turnout, just happy we get to hang out after so long!

Love him throwing his hands up to the crowd to get louder. He loves it.

@cubaricho and I planning to meet up later this week in Denver for the Everton match
