Soccernet was huge, my local paper in Florida used to have match results and PL table on Sunday mornings. Meaning I'd have to wait another week to see updates on how we did. ESPN 2 coverage of tape delays, they had some type of review/highlight show too. We had satellite dish so I'd use my allowance or do extra chores around the house to pay my dad back for Setanta / ITV PPV matches. (Pay 15.00 and watch us lose, ffs). Internet helped massively with message boards, newsnow, internet radio listening to nearly all of our matches at some point...Fox Sports World coverage, ESPN at times, streams, and then finally NBC saved us

Played FIFA as a kid and got into footie through my family, who lived in London and Leicester in the 60s and 70s. World Cup 94 was my first time really watching the sport and I was hooked. My dad used to travel to England to meet biz partners and came back telling me about Alan Shearer + talking about him with his brothers in front of me as being the best striker in the world and maybe England has a chance in Euro 96. One uncle was a massive Liverpool fan when he lived in England and would also tell me about Keegan's Newcastle at the time as KK was his idol. He tried to get me to like Liverpool, but I was always a contrarian. I was torn between BB and Newcastle as I played as Blackburn and Newcastle in the FIFA game as 1) Shearer on BB and 2) the B&W stripes were awesome. I was 10 at the time. ESPN covered the tourney on ESPN2. I fell for England and Shearer then. I followed him to Newcastle and it officially became my club. And so began the love affair.

Nothing cringy about the uncertainty if it was going to work or not, we hired Howe. We were still shite, we’d create chances and then bam, mistake and concede and then we’d never grasp the winner or equalizer. I blamed most of that on the prior manager and the players tbh.

Bruno rolled ankle. wanted help. physio radios to doctor and Howe, they all say he can carry on as Bruno tries to. This is in the 17th minute; while not comfortable he still is important in some of our chance creation and ball movement. In the 30's or so Pope gets told to go down, Bruno goes to the sideline and gets wrapped up and carries on. As half winds down, Bruno isn't comfortable and is getting emotional that he has to come off. Half time comes. He's subbed off. People need to chill.

There is no either / or for me - it's why not to both. Re: the league cup, we've got to be better than 2 two teams over the course of 3 matches. Toss-up but we've got the quality to do it. Re: the league, I fancy us to push on and take a CL spot but will be more than happy with even getting Europa league as well. I want European football next year, deep down.
