I’d like to see Howe get back to seeing these games out like he did last season and the other before — it’s subs, it’s slowing the game down, being creative within the rules to give ourselves a chance to get a break and get the ball up the pitch. I doubt there’s a single person losing their job over the Tonali deal if there’s no legal challenge; I assume the club and PIF will test the reps and warranties in the deal with Milan to their fullest but regardless of the case - a very stern word with the club and likely some additional and unique background checking will be conducted on ALL future purchases. Now if this happens again…different story.

Szobo always wanted Liverpool from all reports. He was obsessed with Klopp and there’s no way he was coming here. Maddison has done brilliantly, he also was in this type of form before the World Cup and fell off dramatically too, struggling to stay fit. Who knows what happens for him rest of this season.

There is now absolutely 0 excuse for him in regards to learning the system, being tactically spot on, finding a niche in terms of positional awareness and that and what is expected of him in our patterns of play. We spent like 70m on backup fullbacks, we absolutley need to use them in this crunch period. Particularly with their versatility. Hall can play LCM, so use him there. Livramento can play RB/RW, so use him there. Targett is also chomping for some game time as well.
