no way dude, we played some of their rock bottom teams last few years and they still made us look stupid. They had the decent player in that though (Ki, Borini, whoever). They're a paceless, organised outfit interested in nothing more than a 1 nil this time out - even someone as s*** as Pardew can't contrive to f*** this up as badly again, thankfully he's free (Gouffran aside) of options to go to his grafters and passionistas this time out too. It'll be a horrible game but 99.5% of me thinks it can't be worst than last year and if it is... Neesy, burns, everything, down.

Resting the main players is what actually got him started on the winning streak this season so it's not all bad. You can guarantee though that he will blame defeat against Sunderland on having to play two matches in 4 days. Just don't have that brilliant little wideman Rolando, who I think would have been brilliant to see this season.

Shearer > Henry, all day every day. As much as I want to be impartial...there's no greater striker the PL has seen and he's up there with the best ever strikers in terms of the last 20 years IMO. Shearer did everything he did with those injuries for team's that completely relied on him at times, and he did it with immense pressure to perform at home in front of his own people. There's over a dozen "factors" that made his job much harder, and when we finally put a squad around him worthy of anything - we were a top 5 side challenging for the title. It was a shame he had those 2 injuries later on and it was a shame we didn't see him longer with Kevin Keegan or Sir Bobby Robson. I'm saying all this and Henry will go down as one of my favorite ever players as well.

Look man, he played for us in our absolute rockiest of bottoms when we couldn't score a fucking goal to save our life in a team that looked as timid, boring, and weak as anything I've ever seen from us. We looked as shit if not shittier than the relegation season. I can't imagine anyone bar Demba Ba and Loic Remy scoring goals for us. He played fucking awful for us don't get me wrong, but a lacking confidence striker who relies on service who plays for a team at its lowest, not creating chances isn't going to score a single fucking goal.

What we sorely lacked was Sammy or (Aarons) running at Debuchy and Mertesacker.

That is partly true to be fair, Bruce was getting a lot of love at the time. I remember posts claiming he was one of the best managers in the league, they'd kill to have him manage us etc and there was a lot of 'agent Brucie' talk about him rescuing Hatem and going to be getting the best out of him in this exciting Hull side he's putting together. They cannot possibly be people in the literal sense. Glad I missed that though as it sounds absolutely horrific When you go and sign Tom Ince, Gaston, Hatem, Diame and Abel Hernandez you look at those and say hmm, some good quality players there - looks like an exciting team on paper.
